Hello everyone,
I just received my thyroid lab results (I'm 28), and my doctor is actually quite concerned. Since I can't see an endocrinologist for another four months, I was wondering if you could help me understand how worrying these numbers really are. I've dealt with thyroid issues before—specifically Hashimoto—but it wasn't anything severe back then; we monitored it, and my levels even returned to normal at one point. However, over the last few months, I've noticed I have absolutely no energy, I'm constantly sleepy, my skin is dry, and I've been feeling anxious, though I just chalked that up to stress at work. But this persistent exhaustion, even after sleeping in, started to worry me, so I had a KKS done. It turns out my iron is low at 3.7 (8-30), so I started taking Heferol immediately, though it's making me feel pretty rough with nausea and headaches. Here are my thyroid results:

T3-2.04 (1.3-3.1)
fT4-18.6 (12-22)
TSH-0.02 (0.27-4.2)
ATPO-107.8 (0-34)
ATG-250.1 (0-115)

Thank you so much in advance.

A standard blood draw can flag certain markers—like CRP or white blood cell counts—to show that there’s inflammation going on somewhere in the body. But honestly, I’m not sure if those specific metrics catch every single inflammatory process, or if they only pick up on a fraction of them.

For instance, if someone is dealing with an inflamed prostate or a bladder infection, would a standard CBC actually show something is off, or do those kinds of inflammations fly completely under the radar on a blood test?

-I went ahead and got some blood work done without a doctor's referral or any specific medical reason, other than the fact that I've been dealing with heart palpitations, insomnia, and night sweats lately.
-31 years old, smoker, healthy weight.
-I've been taking Metoprolol for about 9 years now due to arrhythmias (specifically supraventricular tachycardia and PVCs).
-I have GERD.
-For the last few years, I've had mild hypokalemia, which I mostly manage through my diet.

From the results:

Basophils 1.2% (range up to 1)
-Lymphocytes 3.4 10^9/L (range 1.19 to 3.3)
Urate 374 µmol/L (range 134 to 337)
Potassium 3.8 mmol/L (range 3.9 to 5.1)
Sodium 137 mmol/L (range 137 to 146)
Total calcium 2.57 mmol/L (range 2.14 to 2.53)
Cholesterol 4.9 mmol/L (range 3.5 to 5)
-LDL cholesterol 3.2 mmol/L (< 3.0)

Does anyone have an idea what these numbers might point to? 🤔
What other tests should I run, and are these values actually outside the normal range enough to warrant more follow-ups? 🤔
The urate levels are the weirdest part to me. 😕

(Glucose, creatinine, magnesium, iron, thyroid hormones, AST and ALT enzymes, and hs-CRP were all normal)

Blood work results + context regarding why I had them drawn...
Hello everyone. I’m hoping someone might be able to offer some insight here. (For the third month now, my question seems to be getting ignored—I must be formatting it incorrectly every single time, so let’s give it one more shot!)

So, I am 27 years old and generally in good health. Back in August 2014, I underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove a benign ovarian tumor, which was confirmed by pathology. The procedure went well according to the doctors, and my follow-ups with the gynecologist were all perfectly normal. However, I have been struggling with one specific issue: I am not sure if it is even related, but I mention the surgery because immediately upon waking from anesthesia, I suffered three days of intense stomach pain—right around the navel area—that didn't respond to IV injections or Peptoran. That pain finally subsided once they removed the drain that had been in me for those three days.

Since then, I’ve been experiencing intermittent pain on the right side of my abdomen near the navel—somewhere in the vicinity of the small intestine or duodenum. This discomfort intensified between October and December, becoming a daily occurrence. It isn't excruciating, but it is constant. It has lessened slightly, but it keeps coming back. On two separate ultrasounds, they told me everything looked fine, though they noted my stomach wall appeared thickened and suggested a gastroscopy, as the location of the pain suggests a possible duodenal ulcer. To clarify, I don't have issues with heartburn, I feel bloated occasionally, and food doesn't bother me—it is just this pain and discomfort near the navel! I have lost some weight, but perhaps that is just because I haven't been eating much.

Gatroskopija:
Ezofagoskopija: results were normal
gastroscopy: corpus and antrum findings are normal. Antral impression on the exterior. ABUNDANCE of regurgitated bile. Dropped stomach.
deep Duodenoscopy: results were normal
deep Duodenoscopy: results were normal.

Biopsy:

The material consists of pieces of gastric corpus mucosa with superficial findings and pieces of gastric antrum mucosa with a very sparse, diffuse chronic inflammatory infiltrate. HP negative.

Basically, since these pains have persisted for three months now, I have a consultation scheduled with a gastroenterologist in about a month. These blood results were taken two days ago; we are still searching for the cause of the abdominal pain.

I will only list the values that were high or low; everything else fell within the standard range. (I did not test for cholesterol, glucose, bacteria, calcium, or lipase...)

KKS:

basophils - 1.1 H (0-1)
neutrophils - 39.8 L (44-72)
lymphocytes - 50.0 H (20-46)

enzymes: AST; ALT; GGT; ALP; all within range

(U) amylase - 418 ( (S) amylase - 55 (23-91)

IRON, TIBC, UIBC - all within range

To continue the story—in the meantime, I had another abdominal ultrasound performed, and everything remains normal with no abnormalities found. I am waiting for the gastroenterologist's opinion, and based on my records, they are sending me to repeat tumor markers CA-15 and C-19-9. These were slightly elevated a year ago, which they attributed to the cyst (which, again, was a BENIGN TUMOR). The repeated marker levels have since dropped:

CA 125 - 54 REF. < 35 mU/L (2014)
CA 19-9 - 47 REF. < 37 kIU/L (2014)

CA 125 - 29 REF. < 35 mU/L (2015)
CA 19-9 - 6 REF. < 37 kIU/L (2015)

I also repeated my amylase tests in both serum and urine, and this time I added a lipase test as well.

Serum Amylase (*) 48 U/L 37°C 23 to 91
Urine Amylase (*) 167 U/L 37°C up to 400
Serum Lipase (*) 9 U/L 37°C 13 to 60[/B]

What does a low lipase level actually mean in this context???

Thank you.

does anyone have a clue what could be causing high bicarbonate levels in my blood? I've been dealing with this stiff neck and some pretty nasty headaches lately...

When it comes to prostate inflammation, your CRP doesn't necessarily have to be elevated for it to be a factor.

Honestly, a stiff neck paired with a headache is never a fun combo to deal with.

You really need to get in touch with your doctor ASAP! (Especially if that headache hit you out of nowhere like a freight train, or if you start running a fever or feeling super groggy/disoriented).

It didn't just slam into me out of nowhere, it's been hanging around for a while... and my temperature is totally fine, nothing crazy there. But when I'm just standing still, I get this weird, funky sensation—almost like the blood is draining out of my head or something, I don't even know... I can go for a run or do a full-on sprint without any issues, it's just those static, standing-still positions that really mess with me.

Sean Harris93 said:It didn't just hit me out of nowhere, either. This has been building up for a while now, and I don't have a fever or anything—my temperature is totally normal. The weirdest part is that when I'm just standing still in one spot, I get this bizarre sensation, almost like all the blood is just draining down out of me or something. I honestly can't wrap my head around it. I can go out for a run or even pull off a full-on sprint without any issues at all; it’s strictly those static, standing-still positions that really mess with me.

Honestly, if I were you, I’d head in for a full physical with your doctor and just ask them to take a closer look at your lungs and kidneys. It might be worth getting some extra blood work or maybe even some diagnostic imaging done, too—just whatever your physician thinks makes sense after they check you out. Better safe than sorry, right?
Look, just because your bicarbonate levels are running a bit high doesn't mean they're actually the culprit behind everything you're feeling. It’s easy to jump to conclusions when you see something flagged on a lab report, but honestly, those elevated numbers don't necessarily have a direct line to the symptoms you've been dealing with.

Chloe Gray5 said:Last week I went in for some routine blood work and my liver enzymes came back pretty high—specifically AST at 195 and ALT at 111.
I’ve honestly never had any issues with them, or my liver for that matter.

Then I went back today for more tests, hasn't even been a full week, and look at that—everything is back within the normal range.
I'm wondering if there was just a mistake in the measurement last time? Or can they really drop that much in a single week? It feels like they point toward liver damage, but does the liver actually recover that fast, or was it just an error?

Thanks 🙂

It’s totally possible you’re dealing with "lab error"—it happens more often than people think, though it's hard to say if it was a fluke in the first test or the second 🤔.
The thing is, the liver has this incredible capacity to regenerate itself, so we shouldn't rule out that being the reason behind the sudden drop.

A third checkup (ideally at the same lab) should probably clear things up for you. 👍

Quick question about lab work: what are the standard abbreviations for Creatinine and BUN (blood urea nitrogen)? Also, where should I be looking on my results to spot them? ☕

bluebadger14 said:If you're looking for Creatinine and BUN (blood urea nitrogen) on your lab results—and wondering what their abbreviations might be—you'll usually see them listed simply as Creatinine and BUN... though sometimes they can be tucked under a broader heading like "Renal Function Panel" or "Kidney Function Test." To find them, just scan your report for those specific terms—they should be right there near your other metabolic markers... once you spot them, you'll have your answers. ☕

As far as I know, there isn't really an abbreviation for creatinine—it’s just written out exactly like that on my lab results (at least, that’s how it shows up on all of mine). As for the other one, I'm honestly not too sure...

Hey there,

I really need some insight on these thyroid hormone results:

T3: 6.39 H
T4: 287.0 H
TSH: 0.01 L

This is my first time ever getting these checked out, and honestly, I have zero clue how far off these numbers are from the normal range. My primary care doctor can't see me until next week, so I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on this.

Thanks!

The lymphocyte to neutrophil ratio looks slightly improved...

I should have two stool samples ready later today.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks in advance!

Back again after a month with updated results.

My levels are all over the place again. It’s been the same pattern for four months now. Here is the link to the full report (note that this was a finger-prick test, so calcium and phosphate aren't included, though they were slightly high last time):

http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...9d1095483c.jpg (kks)

http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...bd08dbfd89.jpg (urine)

Essentially, my white cell count is even higher now. The lymphocytes and eosinophils are showing the same trend, while neutrophils are down.

It's strange, truly strange... If I look this up online, everything points toward an acute infection—viral or bacterial—or perhaps something related to allergies or parasites (though my stool cultures for both bacteria and parasites came back negative).

I'm seeing my doctor on Tuesday. I'm hoping she'll actually refer me for further testing instead of laughing at me or snapping like she did last time, telling me I'm just imagining things and trying to self-diagnose some non-existent passing virus.

To add to it, I'm still dealing with that maddening scalp itch from time to time... and I've been feeling an indescribable level of fatigue. My digestion is hit or miss depending on the day. I don't really have pain, just occasional stomach discomfort like before. The only other thing is that I've lost a little more weight. For context, I'm breastfeeding and gave birth almost five months ago.

All these values that are acting up now were perfectly normal before I gave birth.

This is an older thread, but I’ve started seeing ketones in my urine too. This is actually the third time in the last six months. The first time around, I had both blood and glucose tested, and everything seemed perfectly fine—my sugar was at 4.6, which sits right within the standard range of 4.4 to 6.1. I even went for an OGTT, and all those results came back normal. Yet, despite that, these ketones just keep showing up in my urine. 😢
I’m not fasting, nor am I overdoing it with intense workouts (though I do try to eat healthy, avoiding things like refined sugar and white flour), and I stay active with plenty of walking and weight training. Honestly, I’m starting to get a bit worried about these ketones. What else could be causing this?
I'm not sure how much weight this carries, but my father has Type 2 diabetes.

Not sure if it matters, but my dad has Type 2 diabetes.

If you're walking and hiking all the time, you're burning fat, and then naturally, ketones show up in your urine. There’s really nothing to worry about.
