Post: Thu Jun 02, 2005 2:46 pm Subject: Liver

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently went to a local blood lab and found out that several of my enzyme levels are quite high. They told me this could point toward some kind of liver damage. I’ve gone through just about every test imaginable, and everything else seems fine—there isn't any obvious cause for the damage, either. I eat pretty healthy most of the time, and while I might have a drink here and there, it's really nothing outside the normal range...
ENZYMES:
S-AST: 62 (11-37)
S-ALT: 113 (12-47)
S-GGT: 115 (11-55)

The numbers in parentheses are the reference ranges, or what they should ideally be.
I've heard people mention that "natural remedy" involving yogurt and garlic... though I haven't actually tried it yet.

Has anyone else dealt with similar issues? And has anyone tried any specific medications for
"detoxing" the liver?!

Late last year, I got hit with a brutal case of angina followed by some nasty virus—ended up stuck in the hospital for a full fifteen days. My liver enzymes were actually even worse than yours; I had to stick to a strict liver diet. That means absolutely no pork and nothing heavy. Mostly, I just lived on light meals, though I was basically surviving on Sabra hummus and black olives.
My enzyme levels eventually stabilized all on their own.
Look, do yourself a favor: stay away from anything alcoholic for at least a month and cut out the greasy, heavy stuff. Stick to chicken and lean fish.

I didn't take any medication at all. I’m no doctor, obviously, but my understanding is that everything you ingest has to pass through your liver, so every single pill you swallow puts extra strain on it.

Your liver isn't a rug you can just steam clean once it gets dirty. 😈

Health is an investment. You have to put in the work—protecting it, looking after it, and making sure you aren't inviting illness through reckless choices like excessive drinking, unprotected sex, or just a generally messy lifestyle.

We're living in an era where people are finally realizing that "free" healthcare is an impossibility. When one person pays $667 every month while ten others pay $33, yet everyone expects equal access and treatment, your personal relationship with your own body becomes critical.

It needs to be understood: if you don't take care of yourself, nobody else is going to do it for you.
And when you eventually get sick, if you haven't saved up, there won't be anyone offering you free medical care.

I can't speak to how things are handled nowadays, but about 25 😬 years ago, I was stuck in a hospital bed dealing with some pretty nasty Hepatitis B results. Back then, the "treatment" was basically just a strict diet, plenty of rest, and taking Essentiale Forte capsules. By the way, since the body clears it through sweat and urine, we all smelled absolutely revolting 😳

Mark Hill3 said:Post: Thu Jun 02, 2:46 pm Subject: Liver stuff So... liver issues. Anyone else dealing with this? Just feeling kind of off lately. Not sure if it's diet, stress, or just bad luck. Is it even worth worrying about? Or am I just overthinking things?
I've heard people talking about that old-school "cure"—you know, the whole yogurt and garlic concoction... haven't actually given it a shot myself yet though.

Anyone else dealing with this... or has anyone actually tried any meds for it?
Liver "cleanses"? Seriously? Give me a break.

So, here's your go-to natural remedy for liver health: http://www.cro-web.com/zdravlje/index1.php3?newsid=213
So, apparently this stuff is supposed to help with liver issues? Is that what the label says? Honestly, I’ve seen so many of these claims floating around online lately... just one after another. Does anyone actually know if there's any truth to it, or is it just more marketing hype? Anyone here ever tried something similar for liver health?

Can anyone tell me if walking is actually bad for my liver? I recently dealt with mono, and my enzyme levels are still slightly elevated. I’m not pushing myself or overdoing it, but since I used to be in much better shape, it might look like I'm walking quite a bit more than I really am.🙂Is there any chance this could significantly make things worse?

Maybe give some Aloe Vera and a Swedish Match a shot.

So, I was at this blood lab the other day... and they tell me my enzyme levels are all over the place. Apparently, it points to some kind of liver damage. I’ve gone through every single test under the sun and everything else looks fine—no obvious reason for the damage or anything. I eat pretty healthy, too. Sure, I have a drink here and there, but nothing crazy, definitely within normal limits...

S-GGT : 115 (11-55)

I heard about that "miracle cure"—you know, just yogurt and garlic... but I haven't tried it yet.

Anyone else dealing with this? And has anyone actually tried any specific meds or supplements for "detoxing" the liver?!

The lab results I got back yesterday are incredibly bad.

ENZYMES:
AST: 77 (11-37)
ALT: 271 (12-47)
GGT: 183 (11-55)

To be honest, I’m starting to panic. I knew my liver was in rough shape—given my lifestyle choices involving alcohol and heavy spices—but I had no idea it was this severe. Can anyone share their experiences or suggest how to get these enzyme levels down?
p.s. Is it worth taking those liver support supplements you see advertised on TV?

Have you ever thought about just... I don't know, totally flipping the script on your lifestyle and what you actually eat? Look, I get it, it’s not exactly easy to overhaul everything overnight, but we're talking about your actual health here, and honestly, it's better to make those moves now before things go south... which might be a hell of a lot better than just popping pills (though let's be real, TV commercials are constantly shoving every random supplement down our throats anyway)
Anyway, I was reading up on how dandelion root works as a natural detox—you can toss it in a veggie dish or just brew it as a tea—and it’s supposedly great for flushing out toxins, especially for your liver...
I'm pretty sure there's a ton of other natural stuff out there that could help too. Have you actually sat down and talked to a doctor about all this yet?

Does anyone have any solid recommendations for a liver cleanse?

.............

Give this a shot!

Honestly, it’s almost hard to believe how much stuff your body actually flushes out after doing this.

Edit!
No, no, no... I'm not having any of that alternative medicine nonsense about "liver detoxing" around here.🙂
