Way back in the day, probably around the same age your sister is now, I tried going to the local health center with a referral. That was it. One and done. Never again.
Honestly, it just pissed me off. Instead of actually helping, they just take out their own frustrations on you. So, I decided to go private. Thank God, because I don't have any major issues to deal with.
I’ve been seeing the same specialist for 20 years now—the same one who handled both of my pregnancies. She’s someone I actually trust, and I head in for a checkup once a year.

Look, if I see that my doctor is actually good, explains things clearly, and does a thorough exam, I don't mind paying the money. It's worth it.
If my very first experience had actually been decent, maybe I’d be out there trying to get grandkids through the public system today too.🤷

It totally burned me out. Look, if someone wants to take their frustrations out on someone else, fine, go ahead, but I decided to just pay out of pocket. Thank God I don't have any major issues to deal with.

But here's the thing: she just finished school and doesn't exactly have cash to burn$167 for an exam. About five years ago, I went to our local VŽ clinic using my insurance, and I was seen by this phenomenal young woman. Thank God, I was happy with her...
It just sucks that people can't actually access the benefits they're entitled to...
I don't know, we'll probably end up having to go private with her too... 🤷

Look, if anyone in NYC needs a recommendation, I’ve got two private docs for you: gynecologist Vesna Harni over in Brooklyn and dentist Ivan Azinović near the bus station in the industrial district. Prices are solid, they actually know what they're doing, and they aren't jerks.
For both of them 👍

Does anyone have a recommendation for an orthodontist who doesn't strictly deal in those white fixed braces, but rather uses the metal ones 😍? I actually prefer them.

Ideally within the Washington, D.C. area... 😉

Oh, yeah, looking for someone around the Washington, D.C. area... 😉

Honestly, pretty much everyone uses the metal 😬 ones! It's just that some doctors are super pushy about convincing patients that the old-school way is "outdated" (🙄), so they end up upselling you on the Damon system. Of course, that stuff is way pricier, even if it does mean fewer check-ups at the office.

I’m currently going to IMED and I am loving it! If you want the lowdown on my experience, shoot me a DM. 🥳

amberheron62 said:Everyone is working with scrap metal. 😬 It seems some people are becoming remarkably persistent in their attempts to convince patients that the method is outdated. Is it really that effective?🙄Simply implement the Damon system. It’s significantly more expensive, of course, but it demands far less involvement from the orthodontist—fewer follow-up appointments required.

I am currently visiting IMED and I must say, I am quite satisfied with the experience. If you require specific details, we can discuss them via private message. 🥳

Send me all those details via private message. 😁

Hey there! I'm on a hunt for a dentist in downtown Washington, D.C. or somewhere nearby—ideally someone who takes Medicare... though I'm open to private practices too, as long as they don't charge an absolute fortune.

Eto, way back in my earlier posts, I recommended Dr. Ivan Azinović. He's a private guy, but his prices are totally fair. Honestly, he blew me away because his work is top-tier and he isn't some greedy shark.

A close friend of mine recently saw Azinović, and apparently, the guy claimed everything was perfectly fine with his teeth and couldn't see what the issue was. Meanwhile, my friend was in actual pain—though he couldn't pinpoint the exact spot. So, what does Azinović do? He "kills" a tooth using poison, and had to do it in two separate appointments because the tooth just wouldn't cooperate. Even after all that—X-rays, exams, the whole nine yards, and countless follow-ups—the pain stayed exactly the same. It turns out, when he went to a different dentist, they discovered the problem was actually a completely different tooth. Once that one was treated, the pain vanished. Now I’m left wondering if that tooth Azinović "killed" was even necessary to touch in the first place. The guy clearly has his work cut out for him; about ten teeth needed intervention, ranging from simple fillings to several that were so damaged they required root canals. To say the initial state was anything other than "everything is great" would be an understatement.

Personally, I get that mistakes happen. Diagnosing someone who can only say, "it hurts somewhere in there," isn't exactly easy. But a dentist shouldn't be telling a patient that "everything is perfect" when there's clearly work to be done, nor should a second doctor be left staring at a mouth in disbelief at how much visible damage exists. No matter how you look at it, having a decayed tooth isn't "super."😉
By the way, he didn't exactly say, "let's go ahead and pull the nerve"—you know, the way people usually put it. When it later came to light that he used actual chemicals to kill the tooth, my friend nearly lost it. He hadn't given permission for that kind of procedure, especially given the vague "I don't know what this is, let's just try this" vibe. Of course, anyone would want a second or third opinion before having a tooth essentially assassinated, especially since there's been this lingering bitter taste in his mouth, leading us to believe that the tooth might have been perfectly healthy to begin with.😢

So yeah, I’ve developed a bit of a grudge against the name Azinović. I truly hope you guys are actually doing okay and won't end up dealing with any "surprises" like this.

We did X-rays, exams, the whole nine yards, tons of visits... only for another dentist to find out it was a completely different tooth all along! Fixing that other one solved everything, so now we’re wondering if Azinović should have even touched the first one. Plus, the guy has a massive amount of work to do; about 10 teeth needed intervention, from small fillings to some being so trashed they needed root canals. The starting state was definitely NOT "all good."

Personally—look, I get that mistakes happen when someone just says "it hurts somewhere," but a dentist shouldn't be claiming "everything is fine" while another pro is losing their mind over how much obvious work needs doing. A rotten tooth isn't "fine," no matter how you slice it. 😉

Seriously, 😲 he did a great job on one of my teeth a year ago that needed rebuilding, and he helped my brother with two as well (shoutout to him if he remembers us👋). I also hope everything stays perfect. He was awesome for us, and even a patient in the waiting room praised him, saying during a 6-month implant process, they only felt pain for like 10 minutes. Can you believe that?

I, for one, was thrilled with Azinović.🙂 He saved my wisdom tooth when everyone else wanted to just pull it out... we spent about two months working on it, seeing him every week, and eventually paid around $300....

I finally got over my fear of the dentist.🙂 And don't even get me started on the laser cavity removal🙂—I haven't experienced a more painless aftermath in my life... all praise to him.👍

I’m on the hunt for a good general practitioner here in Washington, D.C., ideally somewhere downtown or maybe closer to the Central Park area.

To be more specific, does anyone happen to know if the Medveščak Health Center is actually taking on new patients right now?

On top of that, I'm also looking for a dentist in the D.C. area who accepts Medicare, preferably near the city center or just on the outskirts.

Thanks! 🙂

I’m not entirely sure if I’ve landed in the right spot here!? This is a health question, though it doesn't fall under gynecology or dentistry...
I am looking for a reliable surgeon in Washington, D.C. who performs laser capillary removal.

THANKS!

If I remember right, my wife got her Beta HCG tested at Sun and the results came back the same day. Just call the Miami office at 305-555-0199 and ask. Honestly, I don't even think it was that pricey.
