Morgan Palmer4 said:Regarding follow-up rehabilitation, does anyone have experience with spas specifically for rehab rather than just leisure? I've had both lower legs amputated—I'm currently using crutches—and my orthopedic surgeon recommended a spa retreat. I am torn between options in Colorado Springs or maybe somewhere near Denver... Does anyone have any insight? I would be grateful for any response...

I stayed at the facility in Colorado Springs and I have nothing but praise. If you go through Medicare, you are placed directly in the resort to undergo your therapies. I also used Medicare, though I was actually placed at the Marriott, where I did all my treatments.
The equipment at both locations is high-quality, and the physical therapists are wonderful (at the Marriott, there is a great guy working on magnetic therapy—I believe his name is 😉)...
The only downside is how crowded it gets—they’ll put 30 or more people in one pool, which feels a bit unsanitary. However, you can always pay for access to the private pools at the Marriott $5.00 and have a therapist available to assist if needed.
Therapy sessions run from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Oh, and the entertainment there is top-tier. I ordered a beer and noticed they were much more generous with the pour than expected—I ended up ordering two more because they serve much more than the standard amount for the same price 😂
Also, the prices in the local shops are outrageous. Even back home in the middle of summer, it isn't this bad. It's awful... that's why everyone ends up drinking there 🤣
Anyway, if you need anything else regarding the physical therapy...

I’m looking for a solid dermatologist who accepts insurance for cryotherapy to treat a wart on my foot.
I used to go to Kaiser Permanente and they did a fantastic job (shoutout to their technician, Drago), but their dermatologist is out on maternity leave right now and they haven't brought anyone in to cover the shift.🙄

If you have any personal recommendations, I'd love to hear them—I'm specifically hunting for a dermatologist, or perhaps a highly skilled nurse or technician, who actually knows what they're doing. I want someone precise, without the risk of unnecessary burns or subsequent tissue necrosis.

I’m planning a move over to Boulder soon, and I find myself in desperate need of a reliable general practitioner—ideally someone at a local Community Health Center. My primary concern isn't just medical expertise, but rather finding a doctor who actually practices common sense regarding sick leave. My current physician is, quite frankly, a bit of a zealot; she actually had the audacity to tell me that if *she* can manage to work with a 100-degree fever, then I shouldn't be making such a fuss about my own symptoms. It was a rather exhausting lecture to receive while feeling completely under the weather. 🙄If anyone could point me toward a sensible professional in the area, I would be immensely grateful.

Hello,

Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for a good general practitioner in the Denver area, or maybe somewhere nearby?

Hi there,
I'm trying to find out if there are any private clinics in Washington, D.C. that accept Medicare for MRI scans and X-rays—and if so, which ones?
To be more specific, I need to get my knee scanned. If anyone has some leads, please let me know. This is urgent because I’m training hard, and if I have to go through the standard public system, I’ll either end up disabled or fully healed by the time they actually see me...

I believe Quest Diagnostics accepts referrals through Medicare. Your best bet is to give them a call and ask directly.

Thanks. I already called, and they don't take insurance for MRIs. They supposedly do in Des Moines (which would be a bit of a trek, even if there were openings), but they're fully booked for this month. As for next month, they don't even know if they'll be able to process it through health insurance yet. Any other ideas?...

They do take them over in Scranton (which is a bit of a drive, though I wouldn't mind traveling a little further if there were better options), but their schedule is completely booked for this month. As for next month? They don't even know yet if they'll be able to cover it through Medicare. Does anyone have any other ideas?

If memory serves, you should try the Neuron Clinic. I had a 3T brain MRI done there myself—it's easily the most advanced machine in the country. They accept insurance referrals, too. It's located right near the Salad, close to the Department of the Treasury. It might be worth giving them a ring to see what they say. 😉

Maybe Dr. Jackdaw?

Well, I booked an appointment there last summer, and they told me my slot wouldn't be until sometime in June. That means you're looking at a year-long wait! Ridiculous... If you don't absolutely need that high-end 3T magnet, I’d suggest the Mayo Clinic in Scranton instead. They accept standard insurance referrals.

Thanks so much, I’ll give them a call on Monday and just hope I don't get stuck in a massive line. 👍

There’s an older gentleman, about 80 years old, who is otherwise quite sharp and active, but he recently broke his hip. They installed a new implant, but now he’s dealing with fluid buildup that’s actually leaking through the wound. The doctor mentioned it might be an allergic reaction to the metal in the implant or some other complication—I can't recall the exact terminology.
The doctor is essentially claiming there’s nothing to be done about it. Who should we reach out to, and where can we go to find someone who can actually fix this fluid issue?

Stupidity isn't just something we should fix; it’s something we absolutely HAVE to deal with, one way or another, because this kind of negligence can turn life-threatening faster than you can blink—if it hasn't already (I mean, think about it: an infected prosthesis leads straight to osteomyelitis, then sepsis, plus eighty grams of weight loss and you're basically dead)... You need to get some sort of imaging done immediately, like a fistulogram, to pinpoint exactly where that fluid is coming from. If it’s some kind of seroma under the skin, they need to go in and resect it to clear things up, and if the root cause is an infection from the implant or even an allergic reaction to the material itself, then that prosthesis has to come out so the infection can be treated, or they'll need to swap it for a different one made from entirely different materials...

The only time you could even remotely tolerate seeing something like this is right after surgery when the wound is still incredibly active and healing, so maybe you wait a bit to see if it "just closes up" on its own, but even then, that should be resolved within a few days at the very most. Otherwise, my honest advice is simple: find a new specialist to handle your care...

Thanks for getting back to me!
Please, could you just point us in the right direction? Who should we actually see? Should we be heading to a specific hospital or looking for a particular specialist? His wife mentioned he’s mostly been seeing trauma specialists up until now. Forgive me if I'm asking such obvious questions—I’m out of my depth here, and his wife is absolutely devastated because she has no clue where to go to get a second opinion.

Dr. Elizabeth Warren, MD, has her practice over at http://www.ozonomedic.com/o-nama.html. Don't let the extra homeopathy training throw you off—she’s a legitimate physician who also specializes in homeopathy and nutrition. I've seen the results firsthand through people I know personally—family, friends, even neighbors. Definitely recommend her.

honestly, the only way to get the real scoop on that is to show up in person at the Medicare office, — because half the clinics won't give you a straight answer if you just call them or walk through the door... they'll just dodge the question...

I believe Dr. Kršek is accepting patients over on Runjanin Avenue.
