I’m looking for recommendations for a specialist to check out some scoliosis in Miami. Ideally, I'd prefer a place that handles everything—from the initial diagnostics through therapy to any potential surgery.

I have zero interest in any alternative medicine methods.

Thanks.

Hey, does anyone happen to know what private dermatologists in Columbus charge? I've heard nothing but amazing things about Dr. Peterson, but I have no clue what an exam actually costs there...🤷

Does anyone have any recommendations for a neurosurgeon specializing in the Lumbar Spine over at Johns Hopkins Hospital? I'm really curious if anyone here has had any personal experiences they could share with me.

Urgent
Does anyone know a reliable dermatologist in Miami? Ideally someone in private practice who specializes in severe hair loss. This is urgent.

Dr. Fauci is excellent for spine issues in general.

My father suffered a stroke just a month ago, and he’s currently dealing with partial paralysis on his left side.
Does anyone know of a good private facility here in the States where he could undergo carotid artery endarterectomy? To be honest, the vascular surgeons at the hospitals in San Diego and Washington, D.C. seem to have been dragging their feet for years; they missed the window for the procedure when it was actually needed, and they never even warned us about how dangerous the situation was—it almost felt like they were just waiting for under-the-table incentives. On the other hand, I suppose it was our own mistake for not seeking out private care to get this sorted out sooner.

Thanks so much to everyone for any information you can share.

I am in urgent need of a recommendation for a solid neurologist in NYC.

Thanks!

I would suggest Dr. Hećimović, a specialist neurologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I have personally been seeing him for years to manage my epilepsy. Before finding him through a referral, I spent quite some time bouncing between different doctors without much luck, but I can say I am very satisfied with his care. He is a genuinely pleasant man and an exceptional physician who possesses a broad understanding of other medical fields as well. You can ask him anything, and he takes the time to explain things clearly. Furthermore, if he feels you need a consultation with another specialist, he is more than happy to provide a recommendation. He is incredibly thorough. I truly hope you find him helpful, as he was a lifesaver for me. :-) Best of luck.

Thanks so much. Have you actually worked with him before?

I'm really hoping to get a second opinion because my first neurosurgeon told me I need stabilization surgery—specifically getting screws put in at the Lumbar Spine—and honestly, I am just terrified.

I think I read somewhere that he mostly focuses on the neck, or maybe I just got my wires crossed.

I wouldn't recommend him based on his bedside manner—he's incredibly arrogant. You practically have to pull answers out of him, and the wait times are ridiculous. In the end, he didn't help me at all... apparently, because my EEG came back normal. Perhaps he's so used to dealing with extreme cases that he finds slightly abnormal EEGs unworthy of his time or effort..

😕 I honestly never had that impression... I certainly wouldn't consider myself an extreme case. It is true that the wait times are significant, but I've heard nothing but praise from several other people. Even my husband, when circumstances led him to neurology, proved to be a true doctor. If I may ask, what was the reason for your consultation with him? I only ask because you mentioned a normal Electroencephalogram..

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a private specialist in the US to perform a carotid artery endarterectomy. Thank you all so much for any information you can share.

To be clear, I am looking for a private VASCULAR SURGEON for a carotid artery procedure, not a vein specialist. Finding those who deal with veins is much easier.

Thanks again!

He was actually quite polite to me (went private), and the appointment took a while, but he didn't even hint at what might be wrong or who I should see next...

I think privacy is the key issue here. I went to Johns Hopkins Hospital myself. My Electroencephalogram isn't perfectly normal—it shows some slight changes—whereas my results have always been spotless in the past. By pure coincidence, I had a scan from a year ago to compare. Even so, he insists the Electroencephalogram is FINE and says the shift isn't a cause for concern. As for symptoms? Honestly, aren't we getting off-topic? I’d rather not end up with another strike on my record. 🙂

Does anyone have a recommendation for a physiatrist in Washington, D.C.? I’ve been seeing Sanda Dubravčić at Holy Spirit up until now, but I really don't want her treating me anymore. I guess I just haven't met many doctors who are quite as stuck-up and impossible to talk to as she is. If anyone knows someone else, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Honestly, I haven't encountered a doctor quite that full of herself, uncommunicative, and just plain cranky in a long time. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

I went to her once... decided never to make that mistake again.

Hey everyone.
I am urgently looking for a reliable general practitioner in the Washington, D.C. area. I live near Downtown, though I don't mind traveling a bit further as long as the office is easily accessible via public transit.

I was wondering if anyone might have a recommendation for a psychiatrist—private or otherwise, I don't really mind either way—located in either Washington, D.C. or Seattle. Ideally, I am looking for someone who comes highly recommended, or perhaps someone who specializes in working with younger adults, maybe in that 20 to 30 age range? I guess it would be helpful to find someone with a particularly good track record for that demographic.

Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for a solid endocrinologist (private practice is perfectly fine) or perhaps a good proctologist? I would truly appreciate any leads you might have. 🙂

Hey everyone! I’m currently hunting for a solid private doctor here in Washington, D.C. because I’ve been dealing with some pretty annoying leg pain lately. Honestly, I’m starting to suspect it might be a vein issue, but I’m totally lost on which specialist I should actually be looking for. If anyone has a great recommendation, I would be so incredibly grateful!
