In exchange, I’ve got a dentist recommendation—Dr. Hrvoje Blažić (at the Police Department Clinic)—and one huge warning: avoid Arianna Pervan, the dermatologist at Dubrava Hospital, if you can help it.

Sorry, why not Pervan? I saw her last week for a mole check, and she kept pushing to have them removed, even though nothing seemed urgent to me. So, I'm wondering...

Well, she kind of gave him the wrong treatment. My dear was dealing with hives—he looked like he’d fallen headfirst into a patch of poison ivy or something—and she didn't even recognize it until the very end. She actually had to call over a technician to take a look, which, I mean, hives are basically bread and butter in dermatology, right? It honestly felt like she lacked experience the first time we were there. And while I was busy Googling everything, I figured out what was going on immediately. Then, naturally, she kept prescribing all these different creams that just made the reaction flare up even worse, so, yeah, bad meds. Maybe some people think it's no big deal, but goodness, imagine if he'd gone into anaphylactic shock 😲 Not that I'd blame the doctor for that, obviously. Anyway, I'm not trying to trash her—I don't want anyone thinking I am—I'm just sharing what happened to us. But man, they can be incredibly rude at that clinic (the dermatology department).

Some people might think this is trivial, but God forbid someone experiences anaphylactic shock 😲 Well, fine, you couldn't blame the doctor for that. Look, I'm not trying to smear her reputation—don't get the wrong idea—I'm just sharing what happened. They are incredibly rude at the clinic (dermatology).

My god, what a disaster. 👎
thanks!

I mean, maybe things will turn out fine for you (I really hope they do!), but honestly, once a doctor screws up like that, I just can't bring myself to trust them anymore. You've always got to go out and get a second opinion!

Like, here's an example: my future mother-in-law (I'm not even married to her son yet, haha) went in for an MRI, and they told her they saw these little clots in some vein leading to the brain, saying there was a huge risk of a stroke and she basically had to have surgery right away. Well, she decided to get a second opinion—which she did privately, because let's face it, MRIs aren't cheap—and they told her everything was actually totally fine, and as long as she keeps taking her blood thinners, the chances of a stroke are super low. She actually went to private specialists maybe two more times after that, and they all said the exact same thing. So, without checking, she would've gone through with a surgery for absolutely no reason at all 👎

Seriously guys, please do your homework and always double-check everything, because your health is worth way more than anything else!

Amanda Hill24 said:Does anyone know an ophthalmologist in Chicago? It’s urgent because reading is giving me terrible headaches. I recently moved to Chicago and I'm looking for somewhere where I can get seen quickly. I'm actually a high school senior, and I have so many responsibilities right now that it's becoming nearly impossible to manage when the letters are literally dancing on the page.😉

Since you're still in high school, you likely still qualify under pediatric ophthalmology, which generally means you can be seen much faster. I would suggest trying Dr. Mirjana Bjeloš Rončević at Holy Spirit; she is excellent.

Looking for recommendations for a private ophthalmologist. It’s huge for me that they actually know their stuff—someone who answers every single question and does a thorough exam. I can't deal with those rushed five-minute appointments that leave me with more questions than when I walked in. Thanks.

Does anyone actually know a top-tier internist who also handles cardiology? An all-in-one specialist—if such a thing even exists? I'm looking at either a private clinic or a major hospital setting.
Price isn't the issue here. What I want is a thorough, legitimate examination and actual expert advice.

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place in Chicago where I could get a full breast exam done—specifically looking for an ultrasound, cytology analysis of any discharge, and a galactography. Thanks!

I need some help here. I really need to book a neurologist because I’m honestly freaking out about potential MS. I'm not a huge fan of those massive clinics, so I was thinking of finding something a bit more low-key at a private practice. I found two doctors and wanted to see if anyone here has worked with them or can vouch for them. It's either Dr. Petar Kulić or Dr. Dragutin Šunjara. Thanks in advance for any leads!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good general practitioner in Chicago, specifically around Sigečica, Peščenica, or Trnje? Ideally, someone who is actually taking on new patients and isn't too bad at what they do. Thanks in advance!

anitapor said:I have a patient here who wants to share some praise for the pharmacology department at Holy Spirit. Honestly, there is an angel working there named Dr. Jasna Čerkez Habek. She is a doctor completely dedicated to her craft, and on top of that, a wonderful woman who actually makes time for her patients.

This isn't some scripted thank-you note. These are genuine feelings I have for this doctor after months of being shuffled between different departments. I feel incredibly lucky to have ended up under her care. This is just a regular patient trying to express her respect and admiration for Dr. Habek since I have no other way to say it.

Thank you!

Patient Anita Porzižek

P.S. My thanks also go out to the surgeons who operated alongside Dr. Marton and Dr. Habek!

Honestly, I’d be happy if someone could just point me in the right direction to get in touch with Dr. Jasna Čerkez Habek. I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about her—both as a top-tier internist and as a truly wonderful person. I’ve tried everything to reach her, but even endless searching and phone calls via Google haven't yielded anything.
If anyone knows how to schedule an appointment with her, please let me know. It’s for my closest family member. Just shoot me an email at kbszeljko@gmail.com and I will be eternally grateful.

Does anyone know a decent general practitioner who’s taking on new patients? Ideally someone working out of the Police Department Clinic in Trnje, though I'm open to checking out the offices over on Runjaninova or Ninski 3 too.

I’m looking for some solid recommendations for a private ophthalmologist. It is absolutely vital to me that whoever I see actually knows their stuff—someone who will take the time to answer every single one of my questions and perform a truly thorough eye exam. Honestly, those rushed five-minute appointments feel completely useless to me; I usually end up walking out feeling even more confused and riddled with more questions than when I walked in. Thanks in advance!

I recently moved to Chicago and now I need to track down a doctor around here. Does anyone have a solid recommendation for someone in the Vrapče, Gajnice, or Spain areas?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a psychotherapist in the Chicago area? I am specifically looking for someone who actually engages with me—not just some psychiatrist who sits there listening to me talk only to hand me a prescription and show me the door. Ideally, I would like to find someone covered by Medicare, and I would prefer if they weren't located at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I realize I might be asking for a lot, but mental health struggles are real, and I need actual support...

🙂I just cannot do anything near Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone I can reach out to regarding these matters?
I’ve heard some things about Dr. Kovac over at Dubrava Hospital, but it seems like he doesn't take private patients—which is a bit of a hurdle since I really need someone in private practice, given that the patient isn't an American citizen.

Thanks

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice, and please feel free to send me a private message if that's easier. Which hematologist or oncologist has the most experience when it comes to diagnosing and treating multiple myeloma?

Thanks,

Hey,

I need a solid recommendation for a private neurologist in Miami. I'm dealing with some circulation issues and neck problems that are messing with my vision, so I really need someone who actually knows their stuff and can dig into this. So far, the only name I've been thrown is Dr. Sučević. Does anyone actually know if they're any good?

Thanks!
