Hey there,
does anyone have a recommendation for a truly amazing dermatologist in Washington, D.C.? (And maybe tell me a little bit about them?!)??! I went to see someone at a clinic recently and honestly, nothing... they didn't even attempt to actually fix the issue.

This question is still hanging in the air!!
When I'm booking an appointment (basically via email since everything is centralized), is it possible to request a specific doctor? And if I already know certain dates won't work for me, can I mention that upfront? Or do they just ignore those emails and schedule whatever they want regardless?!

You can request a specific doctor; they actually listen and show respect there (both at the Mayo Clinic and the Borovje Health Center).

Thanks!

One more thing—since I’ve got two different referrals but it’s all handled by one dermatologist anyway, I’m a bit lost on which clinic I actually fall under at Manhattan. Does anyone happen to know their office hours for making an appointment in person? I really don't want to trek all the way there just to find out they've already closed up for the day and have to walk all the way back empty-handed.

At the dermatology clinic, they don't have specific windows for placing orders; they just do it whenever throughout the workday. You end up waiting forever because the same nurse is stuck handling both patient exams and all the paperwork. I guess it's probably the same deal at other clinics too. Honestly, it'd be way better if they just handled everything via email.

I'm looking for some intel on the best docs for specific stuff—specifically, who should I see for sports injuries? You know, joints, muscle issues, all that mess.

If you could lay it out like this, that would be huge:

Name and Surname:

Address
(where they practice in Miami):

Specialty: like an orthopedist or whatever

Experience:

Feel free to add any extra fields to the template if you think they're useful.

Oh, one more thing... has anyone actually been to see Dr. Pivalica or Dr. Šošo? Also, looking for your honest takes on which doctors are the best go-tos for students (like, solid primary care types).

So, I’m thinking about heading down to Miami to get my thyroid checked out privately—you know, the whole drill with the ultrasound and all the bloodwork. If anyone has a lead on a solid clinic, let me know.
Right now, I’m torn between the Matulic Clinic (with Dr. Anka Pranic Kragic) or maybe the Medikol Clinic (seeing Dr. Darijo Radovic).

Hey everyone!
We just moved into the neighborhood near Gajnica in Washington, D.C...
so we could really use some solid recommendations for a dentist, a GP, and a gynecologist! Thanks!

Greetings,
I am looking for a highly competent endocrinologist regarding some thyroid investigations, specifically to review my FT4 FT3 levels and related markers.
I am interested in private consultations,
and I would also appreciate any recommendations for specialists at the Mayo Clinic or VV.

Has anyone here had the experience of seeing Prof. Dr. Sc. Ivana Pavlic-renar?
Thank you much.

Hey everyone—does anyone know a dermatologist anywhere in the US who actually has the intuition to spot scabies when the symptoms aren't super obvious? I’m looking for a specific name and clinic, or honestly just any really thorough dermatologist who won't dismiss you after a 30-second glance. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the States for this. Basically, I suspect I might have it because I found out some people I was hanging out with a month ago were positive, even though my symptoms aren't screaming "scabies" yet (though I do have a rash and occasional itching). My current dermatologist basically brushed it off as just a standard rash or a sun allergy—the whole appointment, including the chat and writing a prescription for some pricey cream, barely hit the five-minute mark. He looked at my back for maybe 30 seconds, tops. It's incredibly frustrating that something this contagious and serious is treated so flippantly when someone has a legitimate reason to be worried. I need someone who will actually listen and do a proper exam. Of course, I'm hoping for a negative diagnosis, but I want that to come from a real evaluation because the last thing I want is to accidentally spread this to everyone around me. If you've dealt with this, please send any advice my way—especially names of doctors (ideally private practice, since my insurance won't cover a referral right now). Feel free to DM me. Thanks so much.

Honestly, I'd travel anywhere in the country for this. My suspicion comes from knowing people I was in contact with about a month ago who definitely had it—even though my own symptoms aren't overwhelming (though I do have a rash and occasional itching). My current dermatologist dismissed it as just a common rash or maybe a sun allergy; the whole "consultation"—which included writing a prescription for an expensive cream—barely lasted five minutes. He looked at my back for maybe thirty seconds tops. It's incredibly frustrating when something potentially contagious is treated so flippantly, especially when there's a valid reason to worry. I don't know who to turn to for a real conversation and a proper exam. Of course, I hope the diagnosis is negative, but I need that to be a conclusion based on actual diligence—I don't want to accidentally spread anything to those around me. If you've dealt with this, please share any advice or names of doctors who might help (ideally private practice, since my doctor won't issue a referral for this). Feel free to DM me. Thanks so much. Best regards.

Manhattan, Dermatology Clinic.
There is a specific skin test used to rule out scabies.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast. I'm pretty far from Washington, D.C., but like I said—I'm willing to travel anywhere. Could you just let me know how things work at the Manhattan clinic? Do I need a referral, or is it private? Should I book an appointment ahead of time, or can I just show up and wait? And do they run the test as soon as there's a suspicion of scabies, or do they have to be "certain" during the exam first? Thanks in advance for any info—sorry for all the questions, I'm just feeling a bit lost.

P.S. Please, keep sharing your experiences and send over any info I asked for in my first post. It would be a huge help—not just for me, but for everyone else too.

Also, do they run the tests as soon as there's suspicion of itching, or do they need to be absolutely "certain" during the exam? Thanks in advance for all the info—and sorry for the barrage of questions, I'm feeling a bit lost here.

P.S. I’d still love for everyone to share their experiences—please send any info related to my first post if you have it. It would be a huge help, not just for me, but for others too.

I believe you'll need a referral from your primary care doctor—though you don't necessarily need an appointment since they have a general dermatology clinic open from 8 AM to 3 PM. Definitely give them a call first, though; it's summer vacation season, so their schedule might be shifted.

Essentially, just mention you've been in contact with someone who has the itching... any dermatologist will likely send you for testing right then and there.

Honestly, just mentioning you've been around someone with an itchy rash is usually enough... any dermatologist will likely send you straight for immediate testing.

Thanks for the help, everyone. Honestly, I’m not sure if I can actually swing getting another referral. The dermatologist I saw earlier was through my insurance—I got an emergency appointment because I was so worried about this itching, but he didn't think skin testing was necessary to be certain. I doubt my GP will hand out a new referral since they usually defer to a specialist's findings. I'll try, though. Does anyone happen to know if any of the doctors over in Manhattan take private patients? It might be easier to just book something directly. Thanks again for all the info.

If you aren't in a rush, go to Dr. Kristijan Peroš at VV. You'll have to wait a few months to get in, but is he worth it? Absolutely.

Just call them up and ask how much an out-of-pocket exam would set you back at the hospital. Since I was worried about some itching, they checked me out over at Vinogradski, scraped off a spot of the rash, and put it under the microscope (turns out it wasn't scabies after all!). Right now, I'm thinking about heading over to Nola Clinic instead.

Which ophthalmologist from the Mayo Clinic would you recommend? Is it enough to just grab a referral from a primary care physician and show up at the front desk to book an appointment, or is there more to it? Specifically, are we allowed to request a certain specialist? Also, should I expect a massive wait time for an exam? Thanks.

So, here's my saga: I sent an email to book an appointment back in May, but didn't hear anything until late September. Then, I reached out to Vin and they managed to squeeze me in for October. But honestly? I ended up going to Dubrava, where I actually snagged a spot by the end of August!
When I was booking things for my little one, I specifically requested a certain doctor, and they actually made it happen and scheduled him right with her.
Fingers crossed that everything works out perfectly for me!
