Does anyone have a recommendation for a good GP in Chicago? I’m looking somewhere on the west side, maybe around Brooklyn or even near Lake Tahoe.

The main thing for me is digital communication—like, can they email test results? And can the doctor send a prescription straight to the pharmacy on the same day? (I deal with frequent bladder infections, so I really need to handle this stuff on the fly. I can't afford to sit in a waiting room for two hours just to get a simple prescription after a urine culture.)
Also, it would be huge if I could just call in to order referrals for those routine tests and then just swing by to pick them up.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an adult ophthalmologist in Indianapolis? Maybe at the Mayo Clinic?
Thanks

Mayo Clinic
57 Main Street
Dr. Branko Sever

or perhaps

Johns Hopkins Hospital
Dr. Puretić Hrvoje
Dr. Žuljević Ervin

Personally, all three of them have left quite an impression on me.

Hey admins, if there’s a specific thread for this kind of thing, would you mind moving my post? Thanks!

So, here’s the deal: about two months ago, I got bitten by a dog on my right thumb.
The wound didn't heal quite the way it was supposed to, and now I've ended up with this nasty keloid. It's actually getting to the point where it's messing with how I use my thumb normally, which is super annoying. My doctor is now referring me to a plastic surgeon to get this sorted out.

Does anyone have any solid recommendations for a great surgeon or a hospital I should look into?

Thanks so much!

Did you get your tetanus shot? Look, if you only got it when you were a kid and it's been more than a decade, you need a booster—most adults don't bother until something actually happens to them...
You really should have gone straight to the doctor; they would've given you the shot right then and there after you told them about the dog bite..

So, I ended up catching tetanus, and they've got me on a cocktail of antibiotics—Augmentin and Klavocin. I already had everything cleaned up at the ER, and now I'm looking at a full month of medical leave.

Can anyone tell me if I can see a specialist without a referral? Is it possible to just book an initial consultation directly with them?

No, you really can't just walk in... someone has to give you a referral first.

That’s really only an option if you go through private practice.

Cleveland Clinic has a solid plastic surgery department. (Dr. Srećko Budi and Dr. Krešimir Martić)

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a solid ENT surgeon? My nose is pretty much broken and definitely leaning to one side, so I think I might need surgery to fix it up. Any recommendations?

Not sure if I’m in the right spot, so my bad if I am. Just moved to NYC and I need a primary care doctor ASAP. I haven't officially registered here yet, so does anyone know if I can even pick a doctor before that's done? If I can, send me some recommendations. Need someone actually good. Thanks!

Your best bet is to head down to Medicare and ask for a list of licensed physicians who are actually accepting new patients. Honestly, half of them are already completely maxed out or just totally overwhelmed.

I'm looking for some solid recommendations for a dermatologist or an aesthetician in Washington, D.C.!

It feels like my feed is just constant ads, so I'd much rather hear about actual experiences—good or bad. I'm dealing with some skin stuff like broken capillaries, larger spots, and those little bumps.

Thanks in advance!

I have experience with keloids, so here's my take.

The issue with keloids is that nobody will tell you the truth: they can come back after surgery. Nobody.

I've seen plenty of surgeons—some through Medicare, some private (even a certain celebrity surgeon who happens to be a top-tier aesthetic specialist despite his tax evasion scandals)—but absolutely none of them could fix mine.

I have a 15-20cm keloid scar on my left upper arm. Any time I get even a slightly deep cut anywhere else, a keloid pops up.

My advice? Just see any surgeon whose main goal is restoring full functionality to your finger. For specialized care, maybe look at Mayo Clinic just because the staff is highly skilled.

I’m looking for recommendations for a solid cardiologist or internist in Indianapolis. I'm relatively young, just 35, but I've been dealing with high blood pressure for a few years now. It's one of my biggest symptoms, and even though I'm on medication, my readings still fluctuate quite a bit. On top of that, there's some underlying anxiety, so I really want to figure out if this is purely physical or if it's mostly psychological—just so I can have some peace of mind. My current clinic hasn't been particularly interested in running more detailed tests; my EKG and blood work came back fine, and my TSH is just slightly above the limit, so they're basically telling me it's nothing to worry about. Would you recommend checking in with Phoenix or maybe Quest Diagnostics?
