Hey there.
I’m on the hunt for a motherboard. $233 Based on the specs from Links, here’s what we’re looking at:
Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7790 OC graphics card—features 1GB of DDR5, plus HDMI, DVI, and DisplayPort outputs.
So, I was looking at this Kingston SSDNow V300—specifically the 120GB model (SV300S37A/120G)—just to get some thoughts down. It’s running on a SATA3 interface and uses MLC chips, which I suppose is a bit more reliable than those cheaper TLC drives you see everywhere lately. On paper, we're looking at speeds up to 450 MB/s for both reading and writing. It’s a modest little drive, really. Probably fine for a basic office build or just breathing some life into an old laptop that's struggling to keep up with Windows updates, I guess. Nothing groundbreaking, but maybe exactly what some people need for a budget upgrade.
I was looking at some specs for a DDR3 RAM upgrade—specifically that 16 GB G.SKILL Ares series kit (F3-1866C9Q-16GAB), the one with the 4x4GB modules running at 1866MHz. I guess I’m just weighing the options for an older build.
My BIOSTAR H77MU3 motherboard just gave up the ghost. It’s dead.
It’s an Intel Core i5 3470 BOX, running at 3.2GHz with a 6MB cache. It’s a quad-core setup, socketed for 1155, and comes with integrated graphics. I suppose that covers the basics.
I've got a 500W power supply and an old SATA II hard drive, though I can't say for certain what the brand is.
Thanks in advance!
