Motherboard temps?

I need a quick answer on this, please—I'm working on a computer that’s currently logged into eBay and I really don't want to linger here longer than necessary.

Why on earth is my CPU hitting such insane temperatures? I can't tell if it's just some freak thermal spike or if my motherboard is actually on the verge of melting down. :///

It feels pretty hot to the touch, honestly—definitely running much warmer than my PC does.
I’ve been scrolling through some threads where people are claiming the numbers are just fake or that we're looking at a cumulative total rather than real-time data, but honestly, if that were actually the case, I can't quite wrap my head around why things are feeling so incredibly heated right now.

It sounds as if everything inside is being slow-cooked at some constant 50-plus degrees.
Beyond that, if this is a used machine, you really ought to consider repasting the processor, giving the chassis a thorough internal cleaning, and perhaps even swapping out—or adding—a more robust cooling system.
