Basically, the ACL and PCL are the main ligaments holding your knee together from the inside. In your case, the ACL is partially torn.
The cartilage surfaces between your knee bones are cushioned by the meniscus (medial and lateral). Each meniscus has two parts—a front and back horn. You’ve got a tear in the back horn of the medial meniscus that goes into the tissue itself rather than out toward the side. As for the "joint effusion"—that's just medical speak for swelling.
