So, here’s the plan, everyone. I’m thinking about finally getting back into a training routine. It’s been quite a while since I’ve done any real exercise, so I wanted to ask: what kind of movements would you recommend for someone just starting out again? As far as gear goes, all I have at home right now is a pair of 10-pound dumbbells and an ab bench. Once I find my rhythm and get back into the groove, I’m planning on joining a local gym.

You really gotta start from square one here—any recommendation I give is totally gonna depend on what your specific goals actually are.
The more precise you can be about what you're aiming for, and honestly, the better you understand those objectives yourself, the more concrete my advice can actually be.

Could you maybe spare thirty minutes to actually search this forum? There are dozens of threads covering the exact same thing.

Honestly, people are just lazy. Everything is documented online, and this forum is packed with similar discussions and genuinely helpful advice. But no, instead of doing the legwork, some folks would rather just drop a cliché question and expect an immediate solution.

Man, do some reading first. If you hit a wall, then ask...

That’s how I handled things when I started out...

Getting started? Here is my training split from San Diego. 🤷

MON - chest, triceps, and forearms
TUE - back and biceps
WED - cardio (cycling or running)
THU - legs
FRI - shoulders and abs
SAT - cardio
SUN - rest day

I suppose this might serve as a decent example of a program.
