New GPU recommendations?

Now that NVIDIA’s latest cards have finally dropped (slowpoke) and prices for everything else have taken a massive dive, I figure it’s about time I grab something new. My main priority? I need to be able to crush games at max settings on 1080p. I just need this thing to hold up until roughly mid-2016, because that’s when I plan on swapping out the entire rig once Pascal and Skylake hit the market. This one caught my eye:http://www.central.com/details/product...368410316.aspx. Any suggestions? My current setup is an i5 2500k, 8GB of HyperX RAM at 1600MHz, an ASRock P67 B3, and a Seasonic 520W PSU. I’m also looking at picking up a new case; I saw they finally have the CM 690 III Windowed in stock at a local shop for about $250. Honestly, I’m tired of cramming components into this CM Elite 335. Does anyone happen to know if there's an online retailer in the States that ships to my area? I’m looking to pick up an NZXT Phantom 530 instead of the CM case. I spotted it over at http://www.computeruniverse.net/fami...hantom-530.asp but I have no clue if they actually ship to the US. I think someone mentioned ordering their rig from there and everything arrived without a hitch.

Regarding central.com and the GTX 970, I think you might just be having some bad luck—those specific cards tend to fly off the shelves almost as soon as they hit the market. Personally, I’d aim for the ASUS GTX 970; you really just need to make sure you have a single 8-pin power connector available. Anyway, why not give a few local shops a ring and see if they even have any GTX 970s sitting in stock?

Alright, I’ve finally pulled the trigger on the Strix 970; most retailers should have them back in stock later this week. Now I’m just stuck in this endless loop of indecision regarding which case to pick. After digging through a bunch of specs, I’ve narrowed it down to the Arc XL and the Phanteks Enthoo Pro. They’re priced pretty much the same. The Arc XL comes with a built-in fan controller, which is nice, but apparently, the Phanteks has superior cooling—especially for the GPU if you ditch the HDD cages. Then again, I'm not even sure if I'll need those cages for hard drives, since SSDs can go on the back panel, though I've heard they run hotter back there. Also, word on the street is the stock fans on the Phanteks are surprisingly loud. I’ve read countless reviews, yet here I am, still unable to make a call. If anyone has a recommendation or some solid advice to help me tip the scales one way or the other, I’d appreciate it. I’m hoping to get everything wrapped up by the end of the week.

Hmm, I was just reading a review on that card. Performance looks solid, but honestly, the aesthetics are what really sold me. Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up a cheap fan controller? I’d love to be able to dial them down to 7V when I don't need full blast—it would definitely help with the noise levels.

So, the case showed up just three days after I placed the order through central.com $10. Honestly, I’m a bit let down because the bottom dust filter—the magnetic one that's supposed to be attached—was missing. It probably got lost in transit somewhere. I sent them an email about it, and they replied immediately saying they'd check with the supplier, though obviously, nothing can happen over the weekend 😢. On top of that, I told them to throw in a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1; the price isn't bad, but I'm just praying I don't end up with one that has that annoying coil whine. I'd love to post a few photos of the case, but I can't get anything to upload from my phone. Does anyone have any liquid cooling recommendations? I was looking at the Fractal Kelvin S24—the pump pressure looks solid and the fans seem decent—or should I stick with something from Corsair instead? I want to make sure I'm getting the absolute most out of my setup 😁. Once I'm back on a stable connection, I'll post some pics, haha 🙂

What kind of thermal headroom are you aiming for at 2500K? Looking back at your old thread, I see you're running a Mugen—what kind of overclocking results are you getting with that setup? Personally, I don't think there's any real need to swap out the heatsink.
