February 2017—just walking along the Mississippi River levee during those steep evenings, with The Great Gatsby on obsessive repeat in my headphones. It was the last, forever missed, chance for Kanye West to drop that ethereal Coachella vibe onto X.

That choice caught me off guard—honestly thought you weren't really into this kind of stuff.

The way they sing is just so conversational, which makes it really easy to listen to... And if you actually pay attention to the lyrics, they're pretty heavy and sad, assuming you know the story behind them.

And just like that... another Sunday afternoon drifting by; it's the same old story, as they say... 😁

I'm hitting the road at midnight just to dodge the traffic, hoping to be there by sunrise. My old man mentioned that Mom went all out and packed the fridge with everything imaginable for my kid, which is honestly such a relief. It actually brought to mind that one song that always makes me think of those two:

Too many of them, honestly. It’s getting to the point where I can barely follow what they're actually singing without looking up the lyrics online...

I only find myself thinking about these songs maybe once every four or five years, but man, every single time they hit, they just absolutely wreck me.
