Ashley Martinez6 said:Animal lovers 🙏

this guy used to go out of his way to dodge dogs and cats on the street 🙏🙏

but did it ever cross his mind to watch out for butterflies, beetles, fleas, mosquitoes, or even birds... 🙏🙏

while descending that steep cliff, he ended up crushing a few hundred creatures along the way 🙏🙏

he was telling a friend, over a dinner of roasted lamb, all about that absolute monster from the Honda 🙏🙏

I wouldn't call myself much of an animal lover, though I certainly harbor a deep disdain for people...

someone who tosses animals out of their car while cruising at 75 mph is fundamentally broken. plain and simple. if I knew someone acting like that, I’d cut them out of my life without a second thought...

I can't even wrap my head around the kind of person who throws animals from a moving vehicle... what exactly is going on inside that skull? just a vast, echoing void?

I mean those moments when it’s just being annoying and buzzing right in your ear. Like, what am I supposed to do? Grab a pillow and move to the living room, I guess. 😁

Personally, I just flip the lights on and refuse to go to bed until I finally swat them. I absolutely despise mosquitoes.

Matthew Anderson4 said:I don't kill anything. I eat meat, sure, but I don't kill. Not perfect, yeah, I'm a weakling. But if a mosquito wakes me up in the middle of the night, I just move to a different room. Baby steps, man. Even if you think that's hypocritical, hey, at least I'm doing something right.

do you really think someone shouldn't give a damn about non-human life just because they're a carnivore? Like, since you had chicken for lunch, does that mean you can just squash a bug later because "whatever, I eat meat anyway"?

The real point here is that if you ate chicken for dinner and then stepped on a cockroach thinking nothing of it, the public wouldn't give you a second glance. But if you were to kill a dog, that’s when the backlash hits... and that’s really where the line is drawn.

I’m not talking about basic human impulses or a twisted psyche here, of course. Naturally, I am completely against killing animals for sport, or out of boredom, or whatever other senseless reason one might have...

Look, first off, eating chicken for lunch and crushing a cockroach under your boot are two completely different vibes.

Major props for having that kind of patience 🙏 my better half is a vegetarian and treats every living creature like royalty, except for mosquitoes. They can go straight to hell.

Mine is similar. Even though she doesn't eat meat herself, she still cooks and grills it for me.

And what about the other half?

What I mean is the whole idea of crushing a bug just for the hell of it, so you don't end up facing some kind of judgment...

Look, I condemn it, obviously. But does the public's reaction—whether they're more or less outraged—actually change how tragic the act itself was? Who decided this specific case was "monstrous" just because everyone else started screaming about it? At the end of the day, a jerk is still a jerk, regardless of what the crowd thinks.

Honestly, I’m about two seconds away from losing my mind and taking out that idiot over at Honda; someone needs to step in before things get seriously ugly.

Of course he's an idiot.

It’s just that the way people react toward cats and dogs feels so incredibly skewed...

Just imagine if your neighbor ate a dog, much like how things might happen in China, for instance. By tomorrow morning, that person would be the number one headline in the entire country.

They really couldn't have cast anyone better for that role.

If my neighbor tried eating my dog, he wouldn't walk away from that encounter in one piece. And I can barely handle two push-ups.

Let him try it. He won't be touching mine.

Well, isn't it perfectly natural for us to feel this way about dogs and cats, considering we've shared our homes with them for thousands of years? Besides, the more complex and large an organism is, the more weight its life seems to carry, doesn't it? It makes us naturally more sensitive to the loss of such life.

Most people don't go out of their way to kill cockroaches or mosquitoes just for the hell of it; they do it because those things pose a genuine health risk.

If I ever saw someone actually taking pleasure in crushing a mosquito, I'd probably have to conclude they were a complete idiot.

We’ve been living alongside horses for thousands of years too, yet people slaughter and eat horsemeat all the time. 🤷 In fact, humans lived in much closer proximity to all sorts of livestock until just a few hundred years ago...

The only real difference here is that it's probably better not to know exactly what you're eating, otherwise you wouldn't be able to maintain any sense of emotion or empathy.

I personally don't have much of an issue if someone decides to eat a cat or a dog. I imagine they probably won't be anyone's beloved pets, anyway.

The real problem lies solely in killing for the sake of entertainment.
