Paul Sanders5 said:Lol about Milan Bandić getting kicked out of the Democratic Party 🤣 yeah, Zoki finally realized just how much of a disaster Milan was and decided it was time to cut him loose 🙏
I remember being just a kid back in my small hometown, and even then, Milan Bandić was already acting exactly like he does today—totally unchanged. His whole playbook stays the same. He brought in all that money for the Democratic Party in Washington, D.C., and that’s the only reason they didn't toss him out sooner. It wasn't until he had the nerve to run for President that they absolutely crushed him. By then, it was too late; the guy had already built such a massive web of influence that he could stay in power as long as he damn well pleased. And honestly? You can thank Zoki for that.
So yeah, Zoran is just like everyone else—actually, maybe worse, because he basically held the ladder for a guy who basically controlled the most important city in the entire country. He covered for him on purpose because it kept the perks coming.
And why was he the absolute worst Prime Minister? Look at his economic policies, look at the crowd of people he surrounded himself with to draft them... I mean, seriously, these are people whose biggest achievement was fixing up Marshall's old boat in some random city.
So yeah, Zoki, suck it. Sending kisses from my ski trip 👋
Paul Sanders5 said:They aren't selling Barbika to me as some kind of messiah coming to save us, especially when they conveniently ignore the fact that the guy has already been in power before.
Man, if you didn't know anything about them—if their resumes were just handed to you out of nowhere—you wouldn't even be able to tell who is who 😂 because they’re essentially the same. That's why I don't buy this whole "choosing the lesser of two evils" hype. No, you don't "choose." If neither of them works for you, you just skip the election entirely.
Paul Sanders5 sleeps like a baby because he hasn't spent his life voting for either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. How many times has Zoki voted for Milan Bandić? Like, maybe four times, brother to brother, at most. 😂
I guess Kolinda thinks she can just charm her way through the EU, but honestly, I doubt it. It’s the same old story—lots of big gestures and lofty promises, yet very little actually changes on the ground. Maybe there's some merit to her approach, but from where I'm sitting, it feels like more of the same political theater we see all the time in Washington, D.C. It might look good on camera, but whether it actually moves the needle remains to be seen. I'm skeptical.
Nah, they’re trying to sell her to us as the one dragging us straight to the bottom. 🙄

Look, honestly, I wouldn't choose either of them. I generally prefer things to go well for me and try to aim for that.
Your question is basically asking an abused woman whether she’d prefer a husband who kicks her in the stomach and throws her down the stairs, or some ex who just gave her the occasional slap. Just because one option is worse doesn't mean you actually want the other one.
But it's fascinating to me, guys, how passionately you defend an option that you yourselves just compared to herpes and a slap in the face. I've also noticed you tend to jump at any attempt to suggest a third alternative.
How far does this go? It seems your resentment isn't even ideological; it's purely partisan.
And then people will be surprised when most folks just stay home on Sunday, because they have no desire to hand everything over to one slimy, shameless party just so it can gloat over the other.
A third option, a third option...
There is no third option. You choose between Zoran Milanović and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

I guess you could say the presidency is essentially a "useless" role.
But look, first off, Kolinda is openly flirting with Milan Bandić, which is a massive drawback—at least on a national level, though I suppose for Washington, D.C., it’s an obvious plus. On top of that, she comes from a party that basically tore this country apart from the inside out.
Zoran Milanović, on the other hand, was pretty terrible as Prime Minister; honestly, just as bad as anyone in the Republican Party.
Still, maybe Milanović was actually built for the presidency. He’s a top-tier orator—I might even go as far as saying he’s a great statesman. He has backbone. For instance, I don't see him ever standing in front of the White House giving some casual interview. Not a chance. Besides, when it comes to the president, I’d always prefer someone from the opposition rather than the ruling party. It provides a much-needed check and balance, allowing someone to actually say a few coherent sentences, unlike Bernardić.
As for her, her only real way to counter anyone is through her looks. And that’s about it.

Too much trash talk. It’s not even that bad, they aren't actually that terrible. Besides, we need an actual candidate to step up first; until then, what can you do?

If we were talking about the version of Kolinda who actually went toe-to-toe with Ivo Josipović—someone whose speech felt more organic and healthy, lacking those artificial stretches like "the peoople" or "the natiooon" 🤦—I probably wouldn't care nearly as much; honestly, I was pretty indifferent between her and Josipović back then. At the time, I viewed her as one of the better Hadeževač types, someone whose time spent working abroad had somehow instilled a sense of dignity, poise, and actual style. I even welcomed a bit of her fire and optimism compared to how overly cautious and elitist Josipović seemed to be.
But because of this blatant brown-nosing toward the top criminal elements and those bizarre outbursts in her behavior—whether they stem from an illness, substance issues, stress, or something else entirely, it hardly matters—she just isn't that same politician or even the same person anymore. Can someone who acts the way she did in Chicago really be trusted to command the military or oversee our intelligence agencies? How can you reconcile the need for absolute secrecy in investigations with her cozy relationship with criminals, all while she’s simultaneously tasked with supervising the very people doing the wiretapping?

Matthew Young35 said:There really isn't an issue here. Zoran Milanović basically claims he might have been rude, sure—but he was only being rude to an idiot.
Larry Fox5 said:As if that’s some kind of virtue... Justifying being a jerk because your opponent is an "idiot." That’s basically what the guy said about the Southampton manager yesterday too.
It really just boils down to a total lack of self-control. A professional politician running for President should probably be able to keep their cool... right?
I mean, how many times do we deal with complete morons on here and still manage to keep our act together? This whole thing is just a hobby for us, for crying out loud.

How many times do we run into various idiots on here and still manage to keep our discourse civil? After all, writing this stuff is just a hobby.
I don't hold back. I often find myself wanting to write something blunt like, "Oh, give me a break, you're clearly wrong," while just shaking my head at the screen.
🤣 🤣 🤣
We really need to start using some kind of forum version of that "/s" thing from Reddit, just so people actually get what’s going on. It’s getting ridiculous. 😁

I honestly don't think she’s a bad person, even if she does come across as an ambitious little overachiever.
I don't see any malice in her, though on the flip side, Zoki has this one really ugly character flaw, but hey, we're picking a president here, right?
My gut feeling is that Zoki is basically a Republican at heart while she’s the total opposite; he'd probably pull about 65-70% of the vote.
In that kind of scenario, the Left would start whining about how Americans can't seem to vote for a woman and instead opt for some primitive guy with a slightly better vocabulary, claiming that Zoki's supporters are just displaying their innate misogyny through angry internet comments. The local newspapers would run a column or two about it, and Tomić would probably write some flowery prose about rocks or something equally trivial.
But honestly, American hypocrisy is pretty well-documented by now. From every possible angle. 😁
When it comes to global affairs, she’s essentially a conservative liberal playing the part of a traditionalist, whereas he’s a conservative liberal who just blabs whatever is on his mind. Which is fine, really—there won't be any sudden crackdowns on gay rights, religious education, or anything else; all your usual political battlegrounds will stay wide open for more endless bickering. 😁
She’ll have to speak out against adoption by gay couples because that's what her base demands, even if she doesn't actually feel that way, and he’ll have to argue that "religious ed should stay, but maybe just as an elective since it isn't currently—so maybe move it to a different school shift or make it a first or last period thing, like Spanish or Computer Science"—because he’s a realist and isn't some extreme leftist who’s going to start ringing church bells.
Nobody is touching abortion rights; she won't touch them because she's a woman, and he won't because he's not an idiot. I mean, they probably don't even have the authority to change it anyway.
Moving on to economics, she leans toward being a sort of social democrat, while he’s a bit further to the right based on his statements, though whenever he actually had a chance to show it, he stuck to the tried-and-true socialist policies used by every government before him.
In the past, there was always this friction, sort of a Marshall vs Harmon vibe or conflicts involving Canada, but Zoki is actually the one who changed the dynamic; he stopped cooperating with the Democratic Party in Mostar and moved away from the old ways regarding the airport (though I’d personally prefer Krleža, but whatever), bringing things into a more realistic light. He represents a newer generation of politicians who actually worked together in the MVP for the good of the country. Honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if they ended up grabbing drinks at a Christmas Party. 😁
That’s why it seems so strange to me that the Right—for instance, Ajuto on this thread—is in such deep shock at the idea of the colors turning red and the communists returning to power. They don't respect the Democratic Party as a legitimate American institution, they don't respect left-leaning voters as actual American citizens, and they take it upon themselves to flat-out decide who counts as a "real" American.
And then, out of pure fear, they keep the Republican Party in power simply because they think the GOP is better than the communists. It's embarrassing.
Personally, I find both sides problematic, but I don't see the Democratic Party as being un-American. They are essentially interest groups for their members, donors, and connected business owners who use the budget as a tool for enrichment. Somewhere in that mix, there is still a sense of national interest. 😁
Just to prevent any further arguments, let's just say both social and conservative liberals exist.

loneseal said:Yesterday, MPT and Mate Bulić both jumped on Meta to throw their support behind Kolinda. But honestly, if you look at the comment sections on their posts, she doesn't stand a chance.
And let's talk about Thompson, because he seems like an absolute piece of work, doesn't he? He basically called us all communists just because we aren't voting for the Republican Party. So what, I'm some hardcore communist now just because I don't back the Republicans? Please. It's not that simple; I don't have any love for the Democratic Party either.
Then you've got people screaming through the halls about Zoran Milanović, only to get hit with that classic, blunt response from Zoran Milanović himself.
Then I see Sebastian Kurz—all polished, young, educated, and serving as the Chancellor of Austria. A guy who actually rides in economy class and waits in line like everyone else to board a plane. Sure, he has bodyguards, but he isn't rolling up in an armored tank or crushing people under a bus just to prove how "sophisticated" he is, you know?
But I guess that’s just down to the mindset and how people are raised. What do our local North American criminals—these so-called "distinguished" entrepreneurs and politicians—actually know about that kind of decency?
Ivo Josipović was the only one who actually acted like a gentleman, but I suppose you can't succeed when you're surrounded by such a bunch of peasants.
And then, to top it all off, I see these women all over Facebook losing their minds over some message from Thompson... 😁😁

Thompson would head straight to a stadium in Mexico City tomorrow—for the right amount of cash—just to sit there and wail along to Ceca's biggest hits.

Though, I suppose he wouldn't need to anymore since he’s made his fortune, but back before he climbed the social ladder, I could easily see him standing there, embraced by Arkan, singing "Coward" as a tribute to Ante Gotovina.

A few years back, his track with Škoro was actually more popular in Mexico than it ever was here in America...

I know Thompson loves skipping out on paying musicians who played on his albums, but I highly doubt he'd ever actually bother touring through Mexico.

The real kicker here is that a massive chunk of his voter base would probably hold his trip to Mexico against him way harder than they would his habit of stiffing his own band.

The Democratic Party walked out of the chamber when the vote for an independent America happened.
The Democratic Party is basically just a follower of the old communist party.
