Ashley Bailey6 said:Not likely.

As soon as the weather warms up, this whole thing becomes a memory.

It won't have nearly the impact of previous outbreaks.

Aside from the hit to the economy, obviously.

Joseph Clark37 said:Well, that's a relief. I was starting to get a little worried, but it looks like there's no reason to be... Thanks @Ashley Bailey6!

🤣 🤣

Not a single scientist actually knows what’s coming next with the virus—they’re all being incredibly vague about the whole warm-weather theory—but apparently, Ashley Bailey6 has it all figured out and is just shouting "bring on the heat!"...🤣
So, how exactly would the virus survive in warmer climates where temperatures are already climbing?

How much longer is this actually going to drag on? Honestly, my inner eugenicist is starting to wake up. Let Mother Nature just do her thing—I mean, who are we to step in and get in her way? Let's go, anima Corona!

Give them a moment to wash up and perform a little ritual cleansing with some holy water, and then maybe—just maybe—they'll actually sit down and type something out.

People are mindless cattle.
Maybe it takes losing two or three thousand lives to finally wake them up.
We need strict penalties and public executions; there isn't any other way.

The police should just record every single name and surname; then, when they actually need help, throw those people to the back of the line. They can wait until all the actual patients are seen—after all, what harm can a ridiculous little virus do?

That’s exactly why the Germans slapped those $25,000 fines on people breaking quarantine, yet here you are, trying to grab a coffee on an empty patio at a brewery... If I read that correctly, though, feel free to set me straight,

Anyway, this was a pretty solid read:

Look, just because people want to take a walk outside doesn't mean they’re some kind of deranged psychopaths. Getting some fresh air is actually healthy, especially for those of us stuck in tiny apartments. It’s good for both your physical and mental health, which is pretty crucial given everything going on right now. As long as people are following basic precautions, I really don't see why there's such massive hysteria about it.

The real issue isn't a simple stroll; it's the seniors congregating on cafe patios and playing bocce ball in groups.
Nobody is even talking about a normal walk.

It's because people are idiots.

If you go out for a stroll, it doesn't mean you have to hold hands with your girlfriend or gather a group of ten for a BBQ and a soccer game. Maybe stop acting like a tough guy and just sit at a cafe terrace pretending you're some big shot.

Or look at the crowds at the local park lately—everyone is suddenly out there, packed onto those stairs, practically touching one another.

And now, because of morons like that—who probably make up 90% of the population—the rest of us can't even go for a simple walk.

Alright, look, idiots are idiots. It’s just a fact. I feel like way too many people still haven't wrapped their heads around the idea that their own actions can actually end up screwing someone else over.

So, people were complaining about digitalization on this thread before, but now suddenly anything goes? School on TV, everything being interconnected, everything moving online... apparently we don't even need a physical stamp on paper anymore for anything.

Man, we really stumbled into the modern age thanks to a damn disease.

Now I finally get how the Black Death jumpstarted development across Europe. 🙏 I guess you need an epidemic every once in a while just to shake things up.

In the end, I asked them how they managed to keep 11 million people strictly confined to their homes. My colleagues explained that when they locked down Wuhan, the government assembled the top legal experts in China. As early as February 6, just two weeks after the lockdown began, they enacted the "Law on Punishing Criminal Acts Aimed at Preventing the Spread of the New Coronavirus Causing Pneumonia." Under Articles 114 and 115 of the Chinese criminal law, any infected person assigned to quarantine who intentionally violates it would face anything from 10 years in prison to the death penalty, depending on the outcome. If someone accidentally violated quarantine, they could face one month to three years in prison. And anyone who contributed to the spread of the virus through negligence or by ignoring the instructions of the Coronavirus prevention headquarters would be sentenced to between 3 and 7 years...

The Chinese certainly took a much harder line when it came to motivating people to stick to quarantine.

I see where you're coming from, but honestly, this whole school situation is just pure chaos. Look, the teachers and professors have done an incredible job getting things ready, but the idea that kids can just sit at home, stare at a screen all day, and crank out homework without anyone watching them? That's a total pipe dream. In theory, parents should be stepping in to keep them on track, but let's be real: half of those parents are working, and the other half doesn't have a clue how to discipline their kids. If you ask me, this entire school year is already a wash.

To resolve this quickly, nothing short of rigorous—essentially drastic—measures will yield immediate results. One has to admit that authoritarianism occasionally has its merits; in extraordinary circumstances like these, rigid repression is actually desirable.

On the other hand, there was the blatant cover-up and minimization regarding the virus's origins at the very start, even though the situation might have been kept under local control within the initial outbreak zone. They'd rather suffer in silence than say anything that might call the establishment into question—it’s the exact same pattern we saw with Chernobyl, followed by a sudden escalation once the catastrophe turns into a global disaster.

Of course some kids are gonna slack off. But look, it’s about time these kids learned how to take some damn responsibility. You gotta learn, period. Nobody is going to hold your hand through life forever. Otherwise, they’re gonna get hit by a massive reality check when they show up to American universities and realize the professors couldn't care less about them.😁

I find the human race absolutely fascinating. Like, a month ago, nobody gave a damn about being outside—everyone was glued to their phones, computers, TVs, the internet, the whole nine yards. Now, suddenly, everyone’s acting like they’ve discovered nature and can’t live without it. Meanwhile, most of them couldn't tell an oak tree from a shrub if their lives depended on it.

That applies to high schoolers, sure, but honestly? I’m thinking more along the lines of elementary school kids.
