Hey, why don't you try grabbing a more recent version of SuperPI?

I wonder, does it always have to be the very last version we're looking at...

I've been scouring the web for ages, but I'm totally stuck on how to overclock the FSB on this ASUS VivoSeries board.
There's zero option for it in the BIOS, so if anyone knows the trick, please help a guy out.

HELP ME OUT HERE
So I picked up an ATI 3870 PCI 512 (775 1125)... got the latest drivers (8.6), updated DirectX, everything seems fine on paper, but basically every single game I touch is stuttering like crazy—think Crysis, Sniper Elite, Frontlines, CoD4, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, even San Andreas... By "stuttering," I mean I'm getting these weird lines tearing all over the screen during gameplay and pretty much every other little thing you can imagine. If anyone actually knows what the hell is going on here, please help me out
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏:

Overheating issues... could it be the power supply or something else in the rig?

edit: actually, I think I picked the wrong subforum for this one.

Intel Core i7, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, AsRock 775 dual-VSTA motherboard
650W Hyper power supply
It’s not overheating or anything—cooling is actually decent, temps stay under 70 degrees...

Nothing special here. This piece of junk isn't going to stabilize even a fraction of an inch; I suspect a move to Austin would have provided much more traction. CPU voltage sits at 1.40, memory at 533...

What motherboard and everything else are we talking about here?

Kingmax 2x1 GB 667MHz

As for the power supply... well, calling a generic 400W unit a "power supply" is like calling a plastic lighter a flamethrower. It’s barely enough to keep the lights on, let alone stabilize a system properly.

8, 9, 10... I’ve cycled through all of them. It holds steady up to a 250 FSB, but anything beyond that results in a complete system freeze. My next move was a CMOS clear...
Honestly, I think he's hit the ceiling. I ran into a couple of guys over at PC Gamer who were dealing with the exact same processor; their limit was 2.55 GHz just like mine at the stock 1.35V. If you bump it up to 1.40V, you can squeeze out about 2.66 GHz...

Maybe the motherboard hit its limit... hmm??

Still, it beats running on stock settings.

I have my doubts... this motherboard should be an absolute beast for overclocking, and a 270 model ought to be pushing its limits... I’m betting there's some kind of old AMD Athlon X2 4000+ tucked inside that could hit 2.8 GHz without breaking a sweat...

But honestly, you can definitely feel the difference compared to running everything at stock settings...

Wait... you're telling me even at 6x, it won't push past 250 FSB?

I haven't gone down that road myself... once you drop below an 8, it honestly feels like a waste of breath.

If it doesn't hit 250, the motherboard is definitely faulty.

What's the ceiling for overclocking an ATI 3870 512 DDR4 (775 and 1125)
cooling is just your standard fan
