Bozidar said:It might sound like a dumb question, but shouldn't the FSB and memory speed be synced up? Like, if my FSB is at 400MHz and my RAM is also at 400MHz, isn't that better than bumping the RAM up to, say, 415MHz?

If you're running AMD, definitely stick to 1:1. If it's an Intel build, go with 5:4.
Man, it's a dream when CPU temps stay under 28C on air cooling.

It’s all well and good saying that when your CPU temps aren't topping out at 28°C on air cooling.

What would be the reason to keep an Intel system at 5:4? Perhaps if the memory is absolute junk. Otherwise, I always keep mine set to 1:1.

Well, that's because his idea of 1:1 doesn't mean much.

I heard somewhere that you can link two separate power supplies together—basically just bridge the green wire (pin 14) on both to trick them into starting up as a single unit...
Does anyone actually know if that works?

Forgot to mention—the plan is to have one PSU handling the motherboard, while the other takes care of the drives, optical drive, GPU... and, of course, that cooling pelt. Also need some beers. In this heat, you can't leave a beer sitting for five minutes without it turning lukewarm. 😁

Looking for the easiest way to overclock? Just grab ClockGen right here. It saves you from the endless cycle of rebooting every single time you're hunting for that sweet spot where your processor actually stays stable. 😉

RAM... what a headache

same clock speed.... one stick is some no-name CL2.5 and the other is Samsung CL3... identical settings on the exact same motherboard...

it’s wild that the Samsung is actually faster—handles much higher clocks too, and beats it in both read and write speeds

maybe I'm just wrong... maybe that "faster" memory is just skipping cycles because I pushed the settings too hard

whatever, I'll just relax the timings to 2.5-4-4-10 on the no-name and 3-4-4-10 on the Samsung

expecting that sweet CL 2.5 speed to actually show up... but hey, who am I kidding? Samsung wins again!?

can someone with half a brain explain how this is even possible? I'm using AMD mobile chips... tested them on an ASUS and MSI board... played around with voltages from 2.5V to 2.8V and every memory setting under the sun...

to me, this CL2.5 stuff feels useless... it tops out at a stable 218MHz, while the Samsung hits 242 MHz easy

quick question... did anyone pick up that CL2 kit from Micro Center? How does it actually perform? What's the ceiling on that CL2, and how does it handle overclocking?

Kingmax is out of the question...

Which no-name brand are you even talking about?

Maybe you should give Hynix a shot? They seem pretty decent, I guess.

Look, Hynix is fantastic. I'm running them myself right now, and they're stable at 240 MHz—honestly, they could probably push even higher, but my processor just can't keep up! 😉

Just heard through the grapevine that some outfit out of Cleveland is putting together some pretty wild PC cases with built-in compressor cooling...

Anyone have any leads? Like, where can I actually buy one, or at least find some specs...
There’s a lot of chatter out there—people are even saying the price is decent. Given what I know about "decent" pricing lately, I can only imagine what that means...

I knew a guy who rigged up a similar setup years ago, but he ran into nothing but trouble with condensation issues.
Not exactly ideal if you're busy shorting out your motherboard with moisture...

So, does anyone actually know who's selling these?

People are talking big, saying the price is killer too... which honestly sounds suspicious as hell to me.

I knew a guy who rigged up a similar setup years ago, but the condensation issues were a total nightmare.
You're basically screwed if moisture starts building up on your motherboard.

So, does anyone actually know who's selling these?

Well, you aren't even in Cleveland, man.😕

Maybe dustypilot23 knows something about it...

How can you be so sure it isn't in Cleveland? I always figured Fiume was just the old-school way to say Cleveland. 😉

Yeah, Raymond Rodriguez40, I've never actually heard of a company doing that kind of work, but we could always look into it.

The easiest way to scrape together $700 for a Vapochill and get those -50°C temps.

I’d honestly be happy with a much lower price point...

I tracked down who’s actually building these, but the turnaround is two weeks—plus you have to leave your components with them while they install everything.😉 I mean the motherboard and everything mounted to it; the rest can always be added later.

The price $1533 includes the compressor, three cooling points, and the full motherboard setup (though that part is still a bit fuzzy to me). Still, there are cheaper versions out there using two 120mm fans and passive cooling if you're looking to save a few bucks.$733...

Dimensions are 550×250×450, and it comes with casters on the bottom to make it mobile.😁
Right now, they're booked out for two months.😢
The power supplies get installed internally.

From what I gather, this is strictly custom order stuff—not some imported mass-market product, just their own brainchild.

So, roughly how much cooling power are we actually looking at here?😕

Not sure—they’re out on vacation right now, but they’ll be back next week. I'll start leaning on them for some actual answers once they're back in the office.

From what I gather, you should be looking at hitting somewhere around -40 if you're running R13—maybe even lower... obviously that’s not happening in the real world, but keeping it hovering around 0 seems perfectly fine, doesn't it?

Yeah, but honestly, I really question if it's even worth the money...

$733For 0 C, my buddy uses a beefier cooler (like a Zalman, for example) and keeps his mobile running between 25-40 degrees (depending on the season).

But hey, if someone wants to waste their cash, more power to them.👍

They’ll probably set up cooling for the chipset and the GPU too, not just the CPU.🤔
