Edward Peterson70 said:missing OCZ Freeze, Arctic MX-4, Noctua NH-D15, and the Cooler Master MasterCase

You think it's just those five?
There's way more missing, but what we really need is just having a massive variety of pastes tested all in one single spot.

Does this mean I've hit the limit, or should I just dial it back to around 650MHz?

More than that are missing, but what matters most is having the widest variety of pastes tested in a single location.

I am aware there are more. I only listed the ones from the link provided. I don't know every single paste missing from the list—there's an endless amount of them, so I won't go through listing them all here.

If you check the Arctic site, they claim MX-4 outperforms MX-1. Personally, I’d grab the MX-4, but honestly? You won't go wrong with NT-H1 or Kryonaut either. At this point, we're just splitting hairs.

As far as I can tell, the difference is only a few degrees at most.

E4500:
310x11 ( 3.41GHz ) - I'm running 1.475V in the BIOS, dropping to 1.440V at idle... hang tight, it hits about 1.392V under load.
It crashes after about 3 minutes of running Prime95, but honestly, I think it's a thermal issue. As soon as the first core hit 75°C (the second one was sitting at 72°C), the whole thing just folded.

315x11 ( 3.46GHz ) - Voltages are pretty much the same as above.
Kingmax 2x1GB - 945MHz CL5 @ 2.1V
Super PI - 17.000s
PIFASt - 29.50s
If I wasn't running these stripped-down "lite" versions of Windows, I bet the scores would actually look decent. Plus, this stock cooler is absolute garbage.

This is insane...

Just don't run it like that for too long... you might actually trip a breaker. If you care about your CPU, your next move should definitely be picking up a decent cooler...

For C2D, a voltage range between 1.38V and 1.45V is pretty standard, so I’m not sweating the voltage too much—it’s actually the massive Vdrop that’s giving me a headache. If I end up pulling a cooler, I'm eyeing the GeminII😁. It'll cover my bases for the CPU, memory, MOSFETs, and Northbridge. It feels a little pricey right now (plus I still need to grab two 120mm fans), but it's top-tier. Honestly, I've lost interest in the cheaper stuff like the Freezer, BT, or even those Arctic combos... they just aren't on my radar anymore.

Forget about finding Gemini😢, it’s only available in NYC

I have a quick question for anyone currently running Kingmax 1GB (PC6400) modules:
What's the maximum frequency you can push them to, and what voltage settings are you using?

Nisan is still pushing it to the limit, but generally speaking, Kingmax hits about 900 < clock < 950MHz @ CL4 at 2.1V. You can also squeeze 950 < clock < 1000MHz @ CL5 out of it at that same 2.1V

I did a quick, experimental overclock just for kicks—I bumped the FSB up by 10MHz.
At CL5, I'm hitting 993MHz with 1.85v.

Honestly, I have my doubts about whether this thing is actually stable.

memtest 86+ is reporting that 😉
the issue lies everywhere above that point. Even when I bump the memory voltage up to 2.2v, I can't get anything more stable than 1012.

Alright, let’s try this again, much better:
E4500 - 355x10
kingmaxi - 888MHz CL4

hexus pifast: 28.34s
superpi: 16.343s

Honestly, just wipe it and install a clean version of Windows XP (even better if you can find a stripped-down "tiny" version). These Dark Edition builds are a total headache, and I've heard Vista won't even boot unless your overclock is absolutely rock solid.

What kind of voltages and temperatures are we looking at here?

I’m not even touching the temperature settings because this thing is definitely going to blow. My Prime X670E starts melting after just 3 minutes once temps hit 167°F (running 310x11 @ 1.475V), so I’m sticking with the stock profile for now;

As for the voltages...😬 Just kidding. It's a meme to suggest 2.0V when the CPU is sitting at 1.575V. Honestly, the chip could probably handle even less, but since I'm trying to push 360x10, I bumped it up to 1.6V and still got nowhere. The next jump is 1.8V, so... yeah, we're heading for disaster;

The Dark Edition is absolute garbage.

Just wanted to share a quick update: I’ve got the E4500 overclocked to 2930MHz (running at 266x11) on the stock cooler. After about two minutes of testing, the temperature peaked at 63°C.
Everything seems to be holding up fine so far.😁

Go all the way and crank it up to 3GHz. 😁
You'll never get it as hot as you did with Tat.

You’ll never get it as hot as when you're running it with Dad...

Heh, that’s what I was thinking.
I'll try tomorrow; it's getting late. Though, it honestly surprises me that I can't tell any difference between running at 2.2GHz versus 2.9GHz...
