Ovulation help/questions

Hi everyone... I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong section, and if there’s already a thread covering this, please just point me in the right direction.
So, I was reading that even when you're on birth control pills, ovulation can still occasionally occur—usually due to something like missing a dose or other mishaps.
My question is, can a gynecologist actually use an ultrasound to determine with certainty whether ovulation has taken place during the current cycle? And specifically, what is the window of time following ovulation where this would still be detectable? Thanks for the help...

Ovulation can happen if someone isn't taking their pills consistently, or if they take them regularly but have a more significant hormonal imbalance that the standard pill dosage just can't manage. In my opinion, a doctor should be able to see if it happened at almost any point after the fact. They can spot a tiny cyst on the ovary where the egg was released; that little thing eventually ruptures and disappears once your period starts, leaving behind a small scar on the ovary.

I really hope this is just pure curiosity and you aren't dealing with any actual issues here.🙂

Look, I had a bit of a rough patch where I was feeling under the weather, and right as I took the first or second pill from a brand-new pack, I ended up throwing up. I tried taking another one, but after a little while, everything just came back up again... basically, nothing I swallowed or ate that day stayed down. By the next day, I was feeling much better, so I just went ahead and continued my pill schedule as usual. As for my boyfriend, we did "get intimate" 😍 just once—the day after the whole pill incident—and we used a condom just to be safe (I’m incredibly paranoid about this kind of thing 😢).

I'm not sure if I actually have any reason to worry, but I have an appointment with my OB-GYN in two weeks, and I wanted to get some perspectives here before I go in there and bombard her with my ten thousand questions 🙂

How long have you been on the pill consistently? Generally speaking, your chances of ovulating during that first week are pretty much zero.

I’ve been on Logistics for three years straight without a single hiccup.
Now, I was under the impression that ovulation couldn't just trigger that quickly—you know, if you happen to miss the first or second pill—but then I stumbled upon some info suggesting that with low-dose contraceptives like Logistics, missing those initial pills in a new pack might actually fail to suppress ovulation altogether. I’m just not entirely convinced that ovulation can occur that rapidly, like within a day or two of that one missed dose, especially if every subsequent pill is taken strictly on schedule.

Hopefully, I managed to make sense of all that. 🙂

I had the exact same thing happen once where I missed a pill and immediately spiraled into a panic. I called the on-call doctor at the local Mayo Clinic (it was a Saturday) to ask about emergency contraception, and the doctor told me it was highly unlikely I'd ovulate, even though I was halfway through my cycle. Since I'd been on the pill for a full year at that point, he explained that for a hormonally healthy person, the ovaries have basically been "switched off" for a while; they need a specific period off the medication before they kick back into their normal rhythm. In your case, the odds of ovulation and pregnancy are even lower because the encounter happened at the start of your cycle, you used a condom, and you've been on Logistics consistently for three years. It seems pretty straightforward to me. You can stop stressing.👍
