I think people have already told you this, but quietsailor97, I’m pretty sure Pearl Jam has a few lyrics just for you!
can't escape from the common rule:
if you hate something, don't you do it too?
🙂
quietsailor97 said:+ honestly, I just don't get people who go around listing all the bands that have played in Washington, D.C. over the last two years.
And that National band—man, oh man—they were practically just here! And before that, maybe two or three years ago... and even further back... hmm... I don't know, but they've been here like three times now.
I mean, look, it's fine if they come, they're great, but if you're an actual music lover, wouldn't you want to see something new for once?

quietsailor97 said:p.s. I still can't quite believe I'm going to be listening to Nick Cave live—so for now, that alone is more than enough reason for me to grab a ticket.

Kevin Chavez3 said:so like, you actually went to Coachella in the last three years😬
look, I totally wanted to go see Coachella, okay? I just said why I’d actually bother buying a ticket...
Yeah, I did. But since I didn't go, I'm just sitting here feeling all happy-hypo about it now...🙂

you just can't dodge the basic rules of life:
if you're gonna talk trash about something, why don't you stop doing it yourself?
🙂
look at this guy trying to act all high and mighty...
i'm definitely not doing that. think about it...

I’m not even going to bother thinking about this—it’s way easier to just type it out: you have to admit there’s something hilarious about saying, "I don't get people who list all the bands that played," and then immediately following it up with "I can't wait for Cave!" 🤣
I mean, what is actually weird about wanting to see bands that blew your mind the first time around? 🤷
edit: Or maybe they just missed them the first time! 🤷

She’s definitely excited about seeing Cave, but she wasn't out there chanting "bring them here, bring them here" like some people do for bands they've seen a hundred times already. It’s one thing to be stoked when a group like National or Caribou plays, but it feels a bit misguided to demand they come now if they're just going to take up slots from artists who haven't even had a chance to tour the States yet, or at least haven't been here in a really long time.

but yeah, since you're clearly out to get me...
he was with the Bad Seeds, which is obviously way better than his Grinderman era—not that they're even the same thing, let's be real—and I'll definitely be happy to see him, honestly more than AF right now...
but I still don't think picking Grinderman as a headliner makes any sense, nor would I support it, objectively speaking...
but hey, that's just me being subjective, I'm excited for the show...
though if we were actually debating this over drinks or something, I'd never say they should bring Cave to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival...
same goes for Morrissey, I missed him because my luck is absolute trash and I'd be thrilled if he showed up, but I'm not gonna go around screaming WHAT THE HELL ARE THE COACHELLA ORGANIZERS THINKING by not bringing him back... because I don't think the festival exists just to cater to my whims, and I think it'd be way better for the US scene to bring in some fresh talent 😁 so that festivals like Coachella can actually become legendary...

🙏
man, you always make things sound so much simpler than I do... thanks for that!

Paolo Nutini is a must-see; the guy is incredible. Macy Gray dropped a new album, too, but she’d definitely vibe better at Central Park than at Carnegie Hall. ☕

To be honest, I don't think anyone is actually "taking anyone's spot" in this country yet. Our concert scene is still far too young for that kind of gatekeeping. In fact, if anything, you're more likely to see established acts return because they already have a built-in fanbase, rather than seeing brand-new names break through.
Nick Cave, The National, Caribou, Flogging Molly, and similar artists prove my point.

If anyone finds out whether students only get one ticket per person, please let me know 🙂
Just want to make sure I have enough time to snag two of them 😁
btw - would a part-time student count?

He was with the Bad Seeds. Which, obviously, I think is six times better than him being with Grinderman. (Though, okay, IT'S NOT LIKE they aren't basically the same thing). I’m still going to be happy to see him, and honestly, that’s a bigger reason to buy a ticket right now than anything else.
But I still don't think picking Grinderman as a headliner makes any sense. I wouldn't support it, objectively speaking.
But since it's me—subjective as always—I'm looking forward to the show.
But I definitely wouldn't say in some debate (whether on a forum or over coffee) that they should bring Nick Cave to Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Same goes for Morrissey, for instance. I missed him because my luck is absolute garbage, and I would have been thrilled if he showed up, but I'm still not going to go around yelling ABOUT WHAT THE HELL THE ORGANIZERS AT COACHELLA ARE THINKING FOR NOT BRINGING MORRISSEY AGAIN. I just don't feel like the festival is organized for me personally. I think it would be better for Los Angeles to bring in some new names😁 so that this Coachella thing can actually become a legendary festival one day.
It's not that it's "LIKE" the same... it just isn't. Believe it or not... ☕
Besides, who is even saying Grinderman is the headliner? Honestly, I think we'll end up getting someone else with equal or greater popularity...
And if your argument is that the guy was with the Bad Seeds three years ago...
Look, this festival is mostly for the younger crowd, and Grinderman has a decent following that's growing... And not everyone had the chance to see Nick Cave three years ago... and yeah, again, I'm telling you, it's not the same.
Regarding that last bolded part... 🙂
Aha, so you're expecting this to turn into something like Ozzfest? I mean, there's really no point in complaining. No matter how much you might dislike certain bands, the promoters have brought in huge names over the last few years (not talking about the music itself 😁).

So what if they played three years ago? 🤷
Back in October 2009 we had Massive Attack, then T-Mobile brought them back in June 2010... both shows were absolutely killer, and honestly, anyone who actually listens to Nick Cave is gonna feel the exact same way

Mr. Wrong said:Apparently Pearl Jam knows how to handle spelling just as well as they write a damn good song. 🙂
Oh, great—now we have a punk theorist worrying about grammar and songwriting quality. At this rate, you'll end up wearing a button-down and khakis, pretending to be a dockworker like the lead singer from Krešo-t i kiseo kiša. (I know, I know—grammatically incorrect). 😳
