I think you can make it work, provided the heatsink doesn't get in your way—though if it’s larger, it might be an issue. Personally, I’d clear everything out first. Metal shavings are a nightmare; they get into everything, and I just don't like mixing live electricity and sensitive electronics with flying metal particles. You'll thank me later...

Regarding the cutting itself... Drill some pilot holes at the corners of your intended square. It’ll make maneuvering the jigsaw much smoother. Just ensure the holes stay within your cut lines...

Edit: Just noticed you have an H80, so the heatsink shouldn't be an obstacle. Still, spending thirty minutes to strip it down and put it back together isn't a huge ask...

I picked up the acrylic for next to nothing in Pittsburgh, so I won't be running any ads for them, but they cut it to shape right then and there... same goes for these side strips. I’m thinking about adding some engraving, though I haven't quite decided on a design yet...
As for lighting, I found LED modules at the same spot for $5.00 dollars per unit (each module has three LEDs and you can chain them together, 12V). I'll post an update once I get everything installed.

So, I’m rocking a Corsair Series case and I'm wondering if there's a way to swap out one of those old USB 2.0 front ports for a USB 3.0 one if I upgrade my motherboard. What kind of gear would I actually need to pull that off? I'm a total newbie at this, so any advice helps. 😉

If I were in your shoes, I’d honestly just stick to the USB 3.0 front panel; it's way less of a headache than dealing with all that extra nonsense elsewhere.

I need some quick advice on something that feels kind of silly to even ask. Basically, I’ve got this super quiet case right now, but I need to squeeze in an extra HDD and there's zero room left. My plan was to pop it into one of those empty 5.25" bays meant for optical drives. I've been browsing eBay and seeing all these weird adapters. Since I haven't messed with this before, I'm worried it'll turn my dead-silent build into a rattling mess. Especially since it's a Dell case with those tool-less snap-in trays instead of actual screws. Anyone dealt with this before? Any tips?

But seriously, has anyone actually tried this stuff? What was your experience like?

I’ve never actually messed with this myself, but if I were you—maybe try some rubber gaskets or weatherstripping to dampen the vibration? Think along the lines of those cheap plumber's seals you find at Home Depot; it’s an inexpensive way to kill the rattling.

Edit: Just making sure you realize you'll be applying those seals on the side where the hard drive sits.

Does anyone know a way to quiet down my PC case?

I just ordered some new silent fans, but I have a feeling they won't be enough on their own.

Is it possible to line the inside panels with something to dampen the noise? I was thinking about using a thin foam, but I have no idea where to pick that up.

Back in the day, you could actually buy specific kits just for this. They usually came with little screws and rubber washers and stuff. Honestly, just try to DIY something similar. Throw some bits of rubber between the fan and the case, or anywhere else you're feeling those vibrations.

And now I've run into another little issue.

I'm using a Cooler Master case.

My new GTX 750 Ti is literally just a few millimeters too large to fit. To make room, the easiest way would be to cut out a section of the HDD tray so I can slide it in. Since we're only talking about a couple of millimeters, I was thinking about just bending the metal plate slightly with some pliers to clear the space.

Personally, I wouldn't go as far as cutting into it since there's no real need to, and a slight bend seems like the simplest way to handle this.

And since you're working with that case, you'll have to figure out how to 😁 either hand it off to someone who actually knows how to use a grinder to get a clean cut, or maybe just try messing around with some pliers. Personally, I'd probably go the pliers route, though I'd probably check if you can just strip the plastic off the GPU first and see how much that messes with the temps

That's not going to work. If you take those off, you lose the fans too, and I'm definitely not cutting into the plastic—I don't want to void my warranty.

I wouldn't recommend just hacking away at it. You’d be better off having someone professionally trim it with a grinder and sand down the edges so it isn't sharp... While they're at it, make sure they clear out enough space for long graphics cards, maybe around 312mm, just in case you decide to upgrade later.

btw, whose GTX 750 Ti is that—is it the Gigabyte Windforce? That one should be the longest of the bunch.
