They finally dropped the tour dates, and looks like the US leg is the only thing on the schedule besides one stop in Eastern Europe.

You should have just added $17 then and maybe you could've made it to Washington, D.C. Maybe the agency wouldn't have canceled the whole trip if there had been more than three sign-ups π²
Judging by how things go, an arena in a city like Chicago could easily fill up KSET and the ticket price would be $12, which is basically insane... if he even agreed to π

I GUESS I should've kept a closer eye on things, then I would've realized his concert was in Milan on September 30th. It's not like I had any way of knowing when I wrote how much I wanted to go. π¬
p.s. screw Washington, D.C. π¬

Are there going to be any opening acts, or is Public Enemy hitting the stage right at 10 PM sharp?

Thereβs no opener. Expect a marathon setβback in the States, their shows used to run for three hours straight.
The concert start is scheduled for 10 PM, but whether they actually hit the stage at exactly 22:00 is anyone's guess. You can't bank on perfect timing with a crew like this.
Btw, there's a Public Enemy listening session happening today at the local KSET venue where they'll be handing out tickets and CDs.

I'm selling a ticket for their show for just $50!!! And honestly, I'm open to negotiating...
(Just so we're clearβthis ticket is for the actual concert date $83, which I'm sure you guys already know).
Hereβs how this would work:
So, basically, I won one ticket through a giveaway, which means my name is on the guest list at Tvornica for free entry. This means I don't actually have a physical ticket in my hand, but I can head out there on Friday with whoever wants to go, and they can just step in for meβsince I'll be the one showing my ID at the Tvornica box office.
It might sound a little complicated, I know, but if anyone wants to save some $33, we could even go together.
Get your offers in fast because time is running out really quickly!!!
Shoot me a PM with your offers.

Everyone acts like theyβre the most influential rap group to ever exist... the absolute gold standard... yet Iβve never actually sat down and listened to them. Look, I'm not exactly a hip-hop head, but even I can admit there's a curiosity there to finally hear what the hype is about. Theyβre definitely up there among my favorites, though they still sit firmly in second place behind my all-time favorite band, Rage Against the Machine.π

If you actually went, then you saw exactly what I sawβabout two and a half hours of π² (me basically losing it because I couldn't watch anymore, and man, imagine how those veterans on stage were feeling...) pure chaos, just like they were at the start of their career. Guitars flying, crazy stuff happening, hitting those punk HC tempos, and everyone just jumping around everywhere.
The sound system was pretty mediocre, but PE blew my expectations out of the water; they were literally spilling drinks on the crews in the front rows, and they were greeting every single person in the crowd... Flavor Flav might not exactly know how to exit a stage gracefully, but since heβs so incredibly chill and "heavenly," along with the rest of the guys in the bandβIβm giving them a solid five stars.

The worst sound I have ever had the misfortune of hearing in my life π π π Tvornica, seriously, props to you!
GOD DAMN IT.
Otherwise, just pure chaos and nonsense, like pouring Coca-Cola for kids in the third world π
Pure drunkenness and idiocy π
Was there anything else after they played "One Love" through the PA? I headed out right then; it didn't feel like they were going to play anything else, though it felt weird that they didn't hit us with Welcome to the Terrordome...
Did they play Can't Truss It? π€
And since when did Terminator X get so dark? π¬

Ever since DJ Lord took over the decks π
And honestly, I wasn't expecting anything better than that sound from the venueβitβll never be better there.
Anyway, Public Enemy have proven yet again that they're simply the best.

This was hands down my worst experience with concert promotion ever. Compared to this crew, Chuck Berry would have seemed like a saint. It was basically just a pack of teenagers on a little high school field trip with zero supervision. π
It all kicked off with the airport pickup. They were supposed to land around 11 AM after flying from Manchester via Paris. Right around then, the tour manager, Bro Mike, calls me to say theyβre stuck in Paris because they missed their connecting flight and heβs completely lost. Honestly, managing to miss a connection on a flight you actually boarded successfully is... π¬ quite the feat. At that point, the show was on the verge of being canceled, but thirty minutes later, heβs calling again saying the agency found them a flight to Ljubljana leaving an hour later, asking if we could just wait for them there. We sent two vans to Brnik and told them theyβd have to squeeze in a bit (they really needed to arrive 15). They finally touched down in Ljubljana around 3 PM, though it was 2 PM instead of 4. Word is they lost two people somewhere during the tour (Chicago was their seventh stop), luckily it wasn't band members, just a merch guy and some random tech assistant. Then they spent an hour hunting for gear at the airport that turned out to have never even left Manchester.
They finally rolled into Tvornica around 7 PM, but they were supposedly "too exhausted" for soundcheck and wanted to hit the hotel immediately. To make matters worse, it was the sound engineer's birthday and he insisted on celebrating, which resulted in a level of suicidal partying that you could clearly hear bleeding through the PA system. I want to apologize to everyone for the terrible sound quality; it wasn't a failure of the equipmentβwhich was top-tierβbut rather the result of a sound engineer who couldn't keep his feet under him after his birthday bash π¬.
The concert start was pushed from 10 PM to 11 PM. By 10:30, everyone showed up except Flav, who apparently had "some things to take care of in his room." Well, those "things" took another hour, delaying the whole set. He was probably just jealous of the sound engineer and decided to be even more difficult.
The only bright spots in this entire disaster were Chuck D, who is a genuine legend and the only sane person in that chaotic group, and the fact that they actually played a full-length set despite the circumstances.
To wrap it all up, the tour manager insisted their flight to Frankfurt left at 5 AM instead of 7 AM, so they rushed them straight from Tvornica to the airport. I didn't bother arguing with him, so I assume they spent a very pleasant two extra hours sitting around the airport π¬.
DJ Lord has been behind the decks for the last 5-6 years and through several albums, and he's a masterβhis solo set proved it. Welcome to the Terrordrome kicked things off right at the start of the show.

I swear, Emily Ruiz59 and Flav are driving me absolutely insane. π
If I didn't know better, I would have thought I walked into some amateur noise set at a dive bar. Thankfully, I bailed for a drink after the first set so they wouldn't completely ruin my memory of this arena from twelve years ago. π¬
Ugh, unbelievable...

Between all the media hype, the constant delays, and the fact that the venueβhonestly, the absolute worst place on Earth for a live showβplus those shirtless guys who kept bumping into me with their gross, sweaty bodies... I actually had a blast. π
