Do you guys actually buy into this?
Is it even worth losing sleep over?
What’s your gut feeling on the whole idea?
Does this show up in other spiritual paths besides Christianity? Like, was Jesus the only one to ever experience resurrection, or is there more to the story?
I used to think the whole "resurrected body" thing was just total nonsense—childish stuff, really—but now I'm just spinning my wheels trying to make sense of the doctrine. Is there any connection to that bacterium discovery by Dr. Radman that everyone was buzzing about in the news and seeing all over the headlines lately?
Why is this stuck in my head like this?
Thanks for jumping in on this! Everyone is welcome to join the conversation!

That’s a great question. Honestly, I’m not even sure why it’s weighing on my mind! Let's just say I've started leaning toward believing in the "supernatural." Yogananda touches on stuff like that, but things really started clicking for me after I read that interview with Castaneda. He was saying something along the lines of how nobody actually cares about the version of Jesus who rose from the dead and ascended into heaven... or something like that.
I’ve always felt like rising from the grave isn't the only way to "beat" death. For the longest time, I figured it was all just symbolic, you know? But now? I'm second-guessing everything. I figured I'd reach out and run it by the folks over at the IMF.

Exactly. If you take the Bible literally, you'll end up heading down the completely wrong path. I assume you can see where I'm coming from.

But let's break this down: what does it actually mean to conquer death? And why is death even framed as something we need to defeat in the first place?

It’s a fair question. Honestly, I don't know why it keeps gnawing at me. Let's say, for the sake of argument, I actually started believing in the "supernatural." Paramahansa Yogananda touches on something similar, but I really started spiraling after reading that interview with Carlos Castaneda. He basically argues that nobody gives a damn about the Jesus who rose from the dead and ascended into heaven... or something along those lines.
I’ve always felt that rising from the dead isn't the only way to "conquer" death—in fact, up until recently, I was convinced it was all just a symbolic gesture. But now? Now I'm lost in the fog again, so I figured I’d try to get some counsel from the experts here at the IMF.

Rising from the dead is the only way to conquer death!

When you die, everything goes. Your soul is mortal and it dies too! (Ezekiel 18:4,20)

The soul and the spirit are two entirely different things!

The soul represents the LIFE OF THE INDIVIDUAL, while the spirit is the VITAL FORCE!

Only God can restore the SPIRIT—that vital force—thereby resurrecting you! Our very existence rests in the hands of God!
The Son of God, Jesus, said, "I am the resurrection and the life!"

"Do not be amazed by this, for the hour is coming when everyone in the graves will hear the voice of the Son of God and come out!" (John 5:21,28,29)

Honestly? It's because I'm terrified of it and I'm just not ready to go!

But you will, whether you're ready for it or not.
Fear isn't going to help you escape it. Look, death is part of who you are. Everything between your first breath and your last is just part of the assignment you're working through right now. Just accept it! Live with the fact that you're mortal. Once you shift your consciousness, you'll realize there's actually nothing to be afraid of. It's all about perspective.
Death is just one clause in the contract you signed yourself, just like birth was...😁

I can’t even remember my own birthday! Honestly, at this rate, I’ll probably have to wait until I’m old enough to get some serious memory loss just to stand a chance of recalling it.😁 And that way, I won't even know!😁
Now I just need to figure out a game plan to dump everything onto that guy with Alzheimer's as fast as possible! To kick things off, I'm going to go totally silent—no reading and no posting on the forums for a while.😛 😎

Technically, you "die" every single night when you go to sleep. 🙂

Spot on! It’s like falling into this heavy, terminal slumber! (1 Thessalonians 4:13)

That’s exactly it! It’s like I’m riding this roller coaster of fear and pain right up until the moment I pass out, then boom—I die all over again that same night, only to be resurrected fresh and ready to go the next morning.🙂

It’s honestly easier to just become an alcoholic. Or an addict. You don't even notice when you're dying, and honestly, you won't even care.

It means waking up—or being resurrected, if we're using Richard Murphy6's phrasing—meaning you "reanimate" yourself. It’s about finding God within, accepting that presence, and refusing to drift through this world like some kind of zombie. Most people are just half-asleep, I guess. They spend their lives waiting for death—physical death, anyway—because it feels inevitable. Once the spirit is dead, physical death isn't even much of an issue; you just accept it, much like how one accepts the weather.
I assume Richard Murphy6 doesn't want to be that kind of zombie.
Neither do I.
I have no interest in being "disconnected."

Richard Murphy6, that concept sounds pretty compelling to me.

It’s not physical death that claims most souls. Most people aren't even thinking about that kind of passing; they're terrified of the physical kind because it hurts.
What you're talking about is a different sort of death entirely, and you hit the nail on the head regarding our metamorphosis. Honestly, very few people actually want to wake up. Most just want to sleep soundly in comfort and avoid any kind of pain in life.

Richard Murphy6 As follows:
It is quite simple. I move through fear and pain, then drift into sleep—essentially dying a second time that same night—only to be resurrected again the following morning.🙂

Sometimes you even experience a "resurrection" several times within a single dream. 😉 Why would you assume that physical death would be any different?

I believe Jesus rose from the dead simply because I trust God's word—He isn't the type to lie. At the end of the day, it’s a matter of faith; there's no way for anyone to really explain it or prove it to you. Now, as for my own resurrection or yours... that's a much harder pill to swallow. But if that's what He says...🙏
