Does anyone happen to know of a way or any substance that could be used to dye teeth black... besides using a permanent marker?

Nail polish, car lacquer, model boat paint, primer for metal...

Come on, use your imagination. You've even got those tiny model kit paints lying around.

Just take a little bit of bronh and stretch it right over the tooth.
It looked awesome down in San Diego (over at Our Little Clinic).

That is actually my Plan B... provided that the ink is non-toxic enough to be safe...
