The Eye (2008)

It took American studios about six years to pull off a remake of The Eye, even though the producers made the call just months after the original hit theaters. Personally, I think the original holds up way better than the sequel. Alba is in the remake, and honestly, she’s one of my top five picks for a horror lead—she’d be perfect for any scary role, but she does a solid job here too. Has anyone else seen the original or the remake? What did you guys think?

Looking at the reviews, it seems people are pretty split on this one. Some appreciate that the remake sticks closely to the original plot (aside from the ending), while others find the beat-for-beat repetition of scenes incredibly tedious. Then there's the matter of Albin's performance.

The original is quite strong, whereas the sequel misses the mark. As for the third installment, titled "The Eye 10," I haven't seen it yet, but word is it's a strange blend of a teen comedy and a horror flick. 😲

Jessica Alba is hands down the absolute best part of that entire movie🙏

They really should have cast someone else entirely rather than relying on Alba.

I actually downloaded it just the other day... planning on finally sitting down to watch it soon. I really hope it was worth the download. Personally, I'm a fan of Jessica Alba... I think she's perfect for roles like this.

I haven't seen the original yet... and as for this remake, I honestly don't even know what to say. It isn't really a horror, nor is it quite a thriller either. Pretty much the only thing worth watching in this movie is Jessica 👍 😁

I honestly don't get why they bother making remakes at all when the original already said everything it needed to say. If you've already seen the first one, there's zero incentive to drop money on a movie ticket or even bother renting a DVD just to watch some American studio strip every single detail down to the bone until it's practically unrecognizable.

I watched The Eye with Alba yesterday, and honestly, it was such a letdown. Her acting felt off, and the movie wasn't scary at all. 👎
