What are your thoughts on this movie?

Personally, I think it’s just perfect. Honestly, I can't find a single thing to complain about—everything from the script and direction to the acting and score is top-tier. It deserves a full 5🙏 I know the critics absolutely trashed it, but whatever—critics usually don't have a clue what they're talking about anyway.😉

Stephen Hopkins proved he's a storyteller right up there with John Milius, delivering an epic that balances action and romance seamlessly. It’s almost hard to believe he went on to make that silly 'Lost in Space' flick later on.😕 The way he handles the characters of Remington and Patterson—and pits them against those lions—is just brilliant.🙏

And don't even get me started on the Jerry Goldsmith score; it's pure perfection. It’s honestly a disgrace it wasn't even nominated for an Oscar.

Bottom line: it's going to be a masterpiece.🙏 🙏

😂 Yeah, hitting John Milius levels is a tall order... he basically proved it with Red Dawn.

Back to the topic: It's just an okay movie, not bad though.

It may not be a masterpiece, but it’s genuinely good—right up there with Jaws.
I realize critics, including Ebert, have trashed it, but I stopped caring about their opinions long ago. I find it curious that you place such weight on an Oscar; it hasn't been a relevant award for a long time, if it ever was.

It’s not really about the Oscar itself—it’s more that I just feel for Jerry Goldsmith. It’s a shame that such a little-less-than-genius score didn't get any recognition at all.
