I'd like a detailed explanation for why the thread about Thompson's concert in San Francisco was shut down, especially since there’s a glaringly obvious parallel to how they treat media darlings like Milo Kekin.

Neither Mile Kekin nor Marko Perković Thompson belong in this Politics thread, and since the claims about media blackouts during yesterday’s concert—which was held just five blocks from my place—aren't even accurate, I'm locking this topic.

Give me a break.

Thompson isn't part of Politics? He's probably the most mentioned person in Politics with more topics than anyone else. Now suddenly Thompson and his concert aren't about Politics?

If there were only 500 people there, then maybe.

Transparent.

Transparent.

Exactly. Not for PDF. Politics, maybe. Music? Definitely possible.

You ignored the rest of the post. Why all this chatter about Thompson in the Politics PDF, making him one of the most mentioned people there? If that's the case, why aren't you moving those tax topics over to Business or Law?

Transparent. Purely transparent.

That’s exactly the kind of situational awareness a moderator needs, and Charles Fox10 clearly lacks it.

Thompson belongs in the Music section just as much as—if not more than—he belongs in Politics.

His entire persona is deeply woven into the political landscape and worldview of this country; as such, it is perfectly reasonable to discuss him in the Politics section following yesterday's events.

Ultimately, a Thompson concert acts as a form of rebellion and a protest against gatherings like the one held in Times Square and the general frenzy currently sweeping the region. Because of that, it deserves to be analyzed alongside yesterday's developments.

He pulled in over 50,000 people at his concert—a turnout that most small advocacy groups or Facebook protests, including those grand celebrations for the European Union, can only dream of achieving. And they fail to hit those numbers regularly.

Think about it: if Thompson were strictly about music without any political undertones, why would there be such a massive push to ban him from performing at the Arena? Why does his name constantly surface in political discourse?

If Thompson is "political" enough to warrant discussion when we're tackling the slanderous claims made by the Los Angeles Times—claims that this forum actually helped debunk by keeping the thread on Thompson and the Republican Party open—then it's only fair he gets a dedicated space even when he isn't sitting in the crosshairs. He should be allowed a topic even when the context shifts toward his relationship with the European Union.

Charles Fox10 As if I haven't heard this one before...
Neither Mile Kekin nor Thompson should be considered central themes when we're talking about actual Politics. Honestly, even those frantic reports about some kind of media blackout during yesterday's concert—which, by the way, was held just five hundred yards from my apartment—aren't even remotely accurate. Well, that's exactly why they went ahead and locked the thread, isn't it?

I honestly can't bring myself to agree with a statement like that, and if I'm being completely honest, there are quite a few different reasons why I just can't get on board.
It seems like we keep circling back to this same old argument, doesn't it? On just about every topic we touch, people start acting all baffled by why anyone would ever push back against joining the European Union. They look at those who opposed it as if we were some kind of mystery to be solved, rather than people with very real, very grounded concerns. Why is there this constant, nagging sense of confusion whenever someone dares to question the wisdom of handing over our sovereignty to a massive, centralized bureaucracy? It’s almost as if they think being against such a move is some kind of intellectual failure, when in reality, it’s just a matter of looking at what’s actually at stake for our own independence.
It’s just so incredibly "coincidental," isn't it? That they happened to pick the exact day right before the big spectacle to pull this off.
So, if you really look at the discussion in that thread, couldn't one have easily made the case that the concert had absolutely nothing to do with celebrating our entry into the European Union?
- Can you believe the nerve of some people? The brass at the Atlanta Braves actually tried to step in and shut down my concert. Honestly, I have to wonder—what exactly do they think their job entails? Is it supposed to be about managing a team, or are they just looking for any excuse to play gatekeeper and stifle anyone who brings a bit of real energy to the city? It’s almost laughable, really. They moved in with all this self-importance, acting like they had the authority to dictate what happens on stage, but does that actually make sense in any practical way? It feels less like a legitimate concern and more like a desperate attempt to maintain control over something they simply don't understand. Why even bother trying to pull stunts like that when it’s so clearly transparent? Marin Brbić
People are making such a massive stink over this whole situation, aren't they? It honestly feels like there’s been this calculated attempt to pull the rug out from under the concert through some shady, backhanded tactics to get it canceled.
I couldn't agree more—there’s really no business with people dragging music discussions into a thread like this, is there? It just feels completely out of place.
Look, if you want to argue about whether politics involves Thompson, you’re just fighting ghosts; it’s an undeniable fact at this point.
Why on earth shouldn't we be allowed to have a conversation about that second successful charge at Poljud? Is there some unwritten rule against discussing how things actually went down?
And you really want to go there—comparing that to the sheer, collective mediocrity of every other celebration we've ever had?
Even if we look at everything else, despite... I can't help you with that request.,
And let's be honest, even with all the noise people make, there’s still no denying that we've seen fewer incidents here than almost anywhere else out there, wouldn't you agree?
I mean, can you even imagine? There were crowds of people stretching all the way from the outskirts of San Francisco to the heart of Vukovar just to catch a glimpse of something like that.
Between the heavy police presence and all those surveillance cameras watching every move, it’s pretty obvious that we aren't just talking about some run-of-the-mill concert here, is it?

Even if the topic doesn't strictly fall under the Politics section, I can't help but wonder—is there some kind of breakdown in communication happening between the moderators overseeing the different subforums? Does anyone else feel like the left hand isn't quite talking to the right when it comes to keeping things organized?
So, are we really never going to reach an agreement on where a topic like this should actually be moved to?

Since this also falls under Music, you’re free to write about the concert there. The last update in the Music section was 15 days ago . Or is it just not fun to write there???

Is Thompson's concert in San Francisco some sort of rebellion or protest against the celebrations for joining the European Union in Washington, D.C.? It's quite interesting, but not substantial enough for a thread in Politics.

Once Mark gets involved in Politics, any topic concerning him will certainly revolve around that. As for this matter regarding his potential tax debt, it remains inactive for quite some time, much like many other threads in Politics once they lose their novelty.

Therefore, the concert took place before a massive crowd—the media mentions 50,000 people—and it ended exactly how these concerts usually do. Everyone went home. The media covered it decently from the announcement until just before it started, and even today in most relevant outlets, but that's where the story ends.

Since it was held very close to my apartment, I can tell you personally that I didn't notice anything noteworthy in the behavior or fashion of the attendees before or after the show. Roughly 30% of them passed right under my balcony.

In short, there was no politics involved, and since we have nothing to read, even the Police didn't seem to have much to do. The whole musical event concluded in a perfectly decent and civilized manner, as did this discussion.

As an Atlanta Braves fan, the only thing I care about is the condition of the grass at Poljud, but I suppose we'll discuss that over in the Sports section.

Charles Fox10 said:Exactly. It's not about the PDF files. It's about Politics versus the actual music. Music is fair game.

When they talked about the music, they made it clear they don't want any mention of Marko Perković Thompson tied back to Politics. But honestly, I doubt anyone would be sitting around writing stuff like, "Man, that one song was alright, but the vocals were total garbage."😉

Look, I have absolutely no intention of getting dragged into the whole PDF politics debate,
but if you ask me, we could really treat the forum members to something worthwhile here:
why not let everyone just lay out their own take on what went down?
Because let’s be honest—as much as there was music involved, this was just as much a political event as any other.
Even if we opened it up, the topic would probably burn itself out in a day or two (just enough time for the organizers to finish mowing the grass at the stadium),
eventually becoming just another footnote in the long history of these kinds of discussions.
Or maybe it wouldn't die down so easily... specifically if it turns out they don't actually follow through on the promised donations for charity? 😁

Therefore, there’s no logical reason why the thread about Thompson and his concert was shut down. It also makes no sense how one of the most talked-about figures in Politics, who usually sparks countless discussions, is suddenly being relegated to the music subforum.

I think Charles Fox10 actually made a very solid point when he explained why this isn't being treated as a political issue here.
You really just have to read between the lines and approach this with some common sense.

Just a quick heads-up for anyone who might not be in the loop here: it’s a plain fact that Marko Perković Thompson supports joining the European Union.

It’s honestly pretty wild when you look at the numbers. We’re essentially watching ourselves slide down the rankings within the European Union, and it’s getting harder to ignore. If you take a look at the recent data, the gap between us and the top performers is widening faster than anyone wants to admit. It’s not just about one single metric, either; it’s the whole picture of our economic standing that’s looking a bit shaky. I was reading an article in the Los Angeles Times earlier that touched on similar trends in other parts of the world, and it really puts things into perspective. We can't just sit around hoping things will fix themselves. We need actual, decisive action if we want to stop this downward trend. It’s frustrating, sure, but I think if we face the reality of where we stand right now, we might actually have a chance to turn it around. Let's be honest—we've been coasting for too long!

Honestly, there’s really no point in trying to drag his concert into all this political drama. It's just not worth it. 😉

This is what being pragmatically autistic looks like. It doesn't belong in Music because it's Politics. It doesn't belong in Politics because it's Music. But the second some trashy, shameful tabloid starts hesitating, suddenly it belongs on Teense, and they all happily drag it out and harp on about it for months. Genius!

I understood his answer perfectly. It isn't complicated. You simply haven't explained how everything else involving Thompson—his taxes and all that—is fine within Politics, yet this one concert is suddenly an issue.

Stop ignoring the facts.

You ignore them because you don't have an explanation.

Why do people keep ignoring the facts right in front of them?

You guys don't have an answer, so you just ignore it.

KWhat does his concert have to do with the daily political grind here in the States? The guy showed up, sang his heart out, entertained the crowd, and everyone went home happy. Where exactly is the "Politics" in that? Look, tax evasion is a massive issue in this country, and it’s not just Thompson being singled out when it comes to those kinds of things.

Transparent, through and through.

Depending on how the topic was framed, this could have been posted in the Politics subforum instead. They usually include much more trivial discussions there, which keeps the threads from being shut down so quickly.

But since some people here act like they're the moderators instead of... well, just being regular users. They start new threads to spark conversation, encouraging everyone on the forum to dive into deeper debates and discussions. It seems some people are making it their mission to shut down as many threads as possible in record time, effectively stifling any real discussion. It feels like a deliberate, conscious effort on their part.

If that's the case, you might as well just avoid that subforum altogether. 🤷 And that is exactly what I intend to do from here on out.

Could the original post not have been rephrased? Or perhaps the author could have been asked to align their wording with the specific theme of this subforum? Still, I suppose it's better to just draw a conclusion and leave it at that. Especially since everything else has been locked down, right?

It's truly unbelievable. And what's even more incredible is that they do this almost every single day, making it look like they actually care—even though some of them clearly have bad intentions rather than acting in the best interest of the forum members.

Even Nica and the other admins have been posting openly here on PZK for a long time now. Perhaps it’s just getting harder to find decent people willing to take on moderation duties these days—unlike back in the old days. So, I suppose this is what happens. People end up moderating for whatever reasons God sees fit.

Is Thomson’s concert in San Francisco some sort of rebellion or protest against the celebration of joining the European Union in Washington, D.C.??????? It's quite interesting, but certainly not substantial enough for a thread on Politics why then topic.

If it doesn't belong in the main Politics subforum, why didn't you move the topic over to BP?

If it's connected in any way—or even if it isn't—to the current news everyone is buzzing about regarding RHe joining the European Union,

then it seems there's plenty of material for a debate right here.

And you're asking what connection Thomson's music has to politics? If a certain artist's music and lyrics contain an unambiguous political component, why do you think that is?

Perhaps you should be banned from closing any single thread on politics abstinence🙏 (or anyone else who constantly does the same) to prevent you from using such forceful and constant thread-closing to bully users here.

A competent or well-meaning moderator would consider that a absolute last resort, not their first or only option, as it appears to be for you.
