I was a huge critic back when I was a kid, but when I heard a year ago they were planning this movie, I honestly didn't think it would turn out this well.
With Michael Bay directing and Steven Spielberg producing, plus a trailer that doesn't look half bad...

Total classics.

This movie is probably going to be absolute madness. Even if it turns out to be total garbage, I’ll still go see it just because it was my favorite cartoon growing up. I think I still have those robots stashed away somewhere—the ones my dad used to bring home from Italy that you could snap together to build one massive ultimate robot 😬
Though, if I recall correctly, I didn't have the full set; I was missing two 😢

The trailer looks solid, actually. It’s got enough polish that you could almost mistake it for something other than a movie... just seeing those characters again brings back all those memories from when I was a kid.

Honestly, this whole thing looks pretty predictable to me—I’d bet my life savings that the plot is just going to circle back to that one kid and his girlfriend instead of actually focusing on the Autobots. It’ll probably end with some big, sweeping gesture where it turns out the Americans or that kid saved the day rather than the actual robots (typical, right? Just a bunch of clueless Americans). Look, what I actually want from a movie like this is massive robots duking it out and leveling cities—not some sentimental nonsense centered around a teenager. This film should be about the Transformers and absolutely nothing else.

Clearly we weren't watching the same trailers... I swear I heard that exact sound from the cartoon in one of them, and honestly, I just had to laugh at how cool they made it look when they dropped it in... 😁 Maybe that sound is just reserved for specific robots or Transformers... won't be every robot having it...

Ugh, it’s so stupid how they totally redesigned the Decepticons. Like, why leave the Autobots looking mostly like the cartoon versions while completely changing the design for the other guys? Now all the Decepticons just look the same... zero personality. I’m honestly hoping for some massive destruction and real carnage, but let's be real, the chances are slim... Probably won't even live to see a big-budget movie that actually shows giant humanoid robots leveling a major US city... where they actually flatten everything to the ground... 😢

I'm a huge fan of Transformers, but I've got this nagging fear that we're just gonna get a bunch of flashy CGI slapped onto a hollow story. Knowing the director, that's a pretty safe bet...

You can hear that sound for a split second in this second trailer, but if you actually pay attention to all the other teasers and trailers, it’s nowhere to be found. It’s just that standard hydraulic noise. 😕
But... if they decided to slip that sound in later...🙏

See, that’s exactly why I’m actually looking forward to this, since Michael Bay is at the helm. In my book, the guy directed the best action flick ever made with The Rock, then followed it up with The Island, and even if you aren't a die-hard fan, Bad Boys and Armageddon aren't half bad either. I haven't sat through Pearl Harbor yet...

Plus, with Steven Spielberg producing, there's no way this flopping isn't almost impossible. Though, if I had it my way, I'd throw James Cameron into the production mix too, just to make sure it's an absolute masterpiece...

The destruction effects were stunning, and honestly, that's exactly what a movie like Transformers needs. My real worry, though, is that the plot might lean too heavily on the human characters; from what I saw in the trailer, that seems to be the direction they're heading.

It feels like people are going to play a massive role in the movie. Honestly, I'm not really feeling that direction, though I wouldn't mind if they actually managed to weave it into the plot properly. My biggest fear is them shoving some cringey teenage romance or those dumb high school drama tropes down our throats—you know, stuff like you see all over TV in shows like The O.C., Tree Hill, or Smallville. Just some predictable nonsense where the guy is obsessed with a girl who doesn't give him the time of day, he's moping around being all depressed, then suddenly some evil Decepticons show up, and he proves his love by doing something heroic, and they run away together, or whatever...

I'm just praying Bay is a bit smarter than that...

Look, let's be real—studios usually pack every single best moment into the trailer just to bait us. I really hope that isn't the case here, because if they've already shown their hand, we're in trouble.

Bay is a total powerhouse when it comes to those summer blockbusters—the guy just doesn't miss 👍

I suppose this might just end up being the best film of the year. ☕

I’m definitely hoping it turns out to be one of the better ones. Personally, I think Bay is a solid director and honestly, I can't imagine anyone else better suited to helm Transformers... it's just pure destruction, start to finish. There isn't a single movie he's made where millions upon millions of dollars don't go flying through the air—whether it's cars, houses, or anything else in sight. So, from what I can see, the Transformers are going to absolutely wreck everything in their path.
For me, though, the real winner for movie of the year will be the new Die Hard, Live Free or Die Hard.
