I was listening to them myself just yesterday, but after reading yesterday's comments and several others, I can no longer argue he’s a genius on the level of John Lennon or Duane Denison. I suspect they've lost quite a few fans along the way, but there's no one to blame for that. They played in my relatively small city three times, and I doubt they'll ever make it back here...
Fortunately, there are still some decent musicians left in America whose music we can actually enjoy without feeling nauseous, and Rebel Star is certainly one of them.

Man, I can't even tell you how much this constant cancel culture hysteria gets under my skin. I really hope the Tutor doesn't end up being its next victim. I get that Boris was trying to call out Western hypocrisy, but he totally botched the delivery—it ended up looking like he was cheering for Putin and his troops as if they were liberating Ukraine from neo-Nazi hordes. To make it even more ridiculous, he wrote this in a country where you basically choose between nationalist and ultra-nationalist options since the days of Đinđić, all while the far-right presence in Ukraine is way below the European average, and definitely lower than in Mexico. It looks like that Internet Research Agency out of Saint Petersburg did a killer job with our neighbors, and what shocked me most about Boris was seeing him cite headlines from those notorious, inflammatory Vučić-style tabloids like the New York Post.

But whatever, I can't help it; I’m just sitting here hoping he’ll wake up, admit he completely overstepped, and face reality. Look, the Russians have started pulling their most extreme moves exclusively at night just to dodge video evidence hitting the news, and now they've clearly pivoted to a full-on intimidation tactic by brutally attacking civilian targets like we saw this morning. It's obvious the sanctions are starting to bite hard, so they're playing nothing-to-lose. I'm certain no sane person—and I consider Boris a sane guy—could justify this crap.

At the end of the day, nobody's perfect, but what separates a man from a total loser is whether he can own his mistakes and actually learn something from them.

Exactly. It’s far more useful—and honestly, more important—not to just ignore those who are misguided or try to isolate them into some echo chamber where their logic can just fester away. Instead, we need to actually point out the flaws and try to bring them to some level of awareness.

It won't work every single time, obviously, but if it works even once, it hasn't been a waste. It’s our responsibility to keep at it. There’s a certain quiet satisfaction in knowing you might have steered just one person toward the right path.

Nowadays, it’s way too easy to get sucked into fake news, especially when they use those staged photos of dead kids—and the Russians are absolute pros at that. When you mix that stuff with the kind of rage-bait media you see all over New York City, it creates this wave of public opinion that’s honestly hard to ignore.

Add someone to the mix who just goes straight for the throat, and that's exactly what Boris does, and you end up with this massive pile of insults that makes it look like he's celebrating someone else's misery. I know he isn't that type of guy, and I'm sticking to that, but his future is really going to be up to him. He definitely has my support.

History shows us that everything just goes in circles. If you push too far toward the extreme left or the extreme right, you eventually end up at the exact same spot. In the end, Hitler and Stalin actually had more in common than they had differences.

Stalin's big issue was just that he sat on a massive pile of resources that Hitler desperately needed for his war machine.
If things were different, maybe they would've stayed buddies and grown old together. I'm talking about Hitler, obviously—that Georgian jerk lived a pretty long life.

Honestly, the dude just comes off as super arrogant, regardless of anything else... I mean, props to his playing and what he’s done for the music scene—he's undeniably talented and all that—but there's just always been something about him that rubs me the wrong way. It kind of reminds me of how I saw John Lennon back when I was a kid—his whole vibe and that "BEST!" cap used to drive me nuts, especially seeing all those reporters sucking up to him. I know you aren't a kid and I know Boris isn't John Lennon, but perception can be tricky sometimes. Looking at his Facebook posts lately, though, he seems to be picking fights way too often. Probably just a mix of having too much downtime during COVID-19 and how easy it is to become a keyboard warrior these days. 🤷

Oh, totally, it's not like I've actually met him or anything. I've caught some of their gigs before and they just never really clicked with me... plus, I've always just had this weird, unexplained dislike for him. Recent posts like this one just kind of confirm that gut feeling, I guess.

I don't think he's some massive jerk, though. He probably just phrased things poorly and hopefully learned something from the whole mess. Still, he's definitely not someone from the scene I'd ever want to grab a beer with or just sit down and chat, you know?

I totally forgot how much Albini used to love trolling people and being provocative... once I finally met him, though, I realized he's actually just a sweetheart who lives for Coca-Cola and would probably accidentally fly under a car if he got too caught up in a daydream.

Since we’re already discussing Koja, it’s interesting to note how much of that condescending, "looking down from on high" attitude Cane shares, especially when they perform in America.
It honestly infuriates me, seeing him pull those acts like “What’s wrong with you Americans?” or “Where are we going to sleep, in Jasenovac?”—both of them acting incredibly pretentious, regardless of the fact that they were playing some truly excellent rock n roll.
As for that clumsy Putin supporter, I don't even want to bring him up anymore...
