I’m pretty clueless when it comes to computer stuff, so I was hoping someone might be able to walk me through this in plain English.
Basically, I have a nagging feeling I’ve picked up some kind of virus. Out of nowhere, my audio just stopped working entirely, even though my headphones are plugged in and ready to go.
On top of that, I’ve got WhatsApp installed on my PC, but it’s being completely unresponsive. I can see that messages are actually coming in, but whenever I try to click on them, nothing happens—they just won't open. To make matters worse, I can't even seem to find where the app is located on my system.
I tried using Google Search to look for it, typing in WhatsApp, but nothing shows up, which makes me think it might not even be on the machine anymore.

Just grab Malwarebytes and run a scan on your computer with it.

I went ahead and ran a full system scan on my PC, but I’m still getting absolutely zero sound through my headphones. Here is what the Control Panel is showing me right now:
