Is it just me, or is this movie actually worth the ticket price (mostly just to see Kate Winslet 😉 😁)?

I mean, how could a movie about Romeo and Juliet being reimagined as a werewolf vs. vampire feud be any good? Everyone's wearing leather, and Kate Winslet is in it... honestly, that alone is enough reason to go see it.

Kate Winslet is on another level because she studied Russian and French literature😁

It’s even more than that. How could it not be an interesting film when it so blatantly lifts elements from the White Wolf role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade? It's a game where players take on the roles of decadent, wealthy, powerful, and angst-ridden vampires who navigate political intrigue and battles against werewolves in the modern world using whatever high-tech weaponry they can get their hands on... And, naturally, all of this happens under a veil of absolute secrecy so that ordinary mortals remain oblivious to their existence.

I won't just watch that movie; I will *watch* *that* *movie*.

Anyone know when this might actually hit the shelves here? Maybe by some miracle around August 18th? I'm just wondering before I go ahead and grab tickets for her...

Right now, I'm testing out this little psychological trick on her to get her ready for entrance exams... though it requires quite a bit of sacrifice on my part...

And she's just so sweet—well, she'll be 18 soon. My mom told me she bought her a quartz bracelet for Christmas. She lives off her meager allowance, while I’m out here living on an American Express card my dad pays for, plus some of my own income. I have to make up for it by spoiling her a little more. 😁

Oh, they certainly don't—that’s precisely the issue. The movie is identical right down to the poster: Kate Beckinsale in a long black leather coat, standing atop a skyscraper during a stormy full moon. If you ever played the computer game "Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption," you'll recall a guy in a long black leather coat standing on a skyscraper under a full moon during a storm appearing on the main menu or in the intro animation.
White Wolf sued them over it—of course, just a week before the film's world premiere. Given that the movie is still playing in theaters, one can assume the lawsuit went nowhere and they reached a settlement.

Naturally. I also want to be a samurai, a vampire slayer wielding a katana like Uma Thurman, or perhaps a swashbuckling nobleman in some Dune-esque space opera. That is why I play role-playing games with my friends where such things are actually possible. 😁

I am turning into a religious fanatic: while others proselytize faith, I propagate D&D. It's all quite tiresome.

They're running ads for it on the radio too, so maybe it’ll hit Cinemark right away. It finally opens this Friday.

The trailer for this movie looks absolutely incredible, and honestly, Kate Beckinsale is going to make me sprint straight to the theater.

I caught this movie a few months back, but I’m heading to Cinemark tonight 👋 YAY!!!!

Anyone who enjoys White Wolf or those kinds of vampire RPGs is going to have a blast 😁

The plot is actually a bit more solid than Blade's—it's just a fun ride, and visually, it looks incredibly cool (lots of black and blue tones, plus plenty of leather and latex 😁). The fights are great too (that time stop thing, again 🙄)—really cool characters overall...

If you're a Shakespeare fan, though, you might want to skip Underworld 😉

Watched it last night...

Man, that ending totally tanked the movie. I can't tell if they specifically pick someone to ruin the finale or if they just run out of ideas and settle for garbage...

The story itself is decent. It actually reminds me a bit of Blade's aesthetic—you know, the color palette and the general vibe. Everything looks great, though there's way too much music playing during the actual scenes, which was pretty annoying. Luckily, they have Kate Beckinsale, who looks incredible and honestly seems built for these kinds of roles. 🙂

All in all, probably worth a watch once it hits DVD...

I haven't actually played Tam myself. However, our GM preferred using various custom rules that made the whole experience rather difficult, to say the least.
