Webcam not working

Not sure if I’m posting this in the right spot, so my bad if I am.
So, I’ve got a bit of a situation here. 😁
Basically, my webcam is acting up. It worked perfectly fine when I first bought it, but then I swapped some USB ports around for my mouse and camera, and now everything is just broken. 😠 🙄
To make a long story short, everything was totally fine until I lost the connection somehow. I tried being smart and uninstalled it to reinstall it, but now when I try to run the setup, it just keeps saying "please plug-in device" even though the camera is plugged in the whole time. 😕 🤷
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I have zero clue where to even start... my hand actually hurts from constantly plugging and unplugging this cable. 🤣

What webcam are you running (brand and model)? Also, which version of Windows are you on?

I'm using a Logitech C270 on Windows XP 🙂

So you swapped out the USB ports you use for your mouse and webcam? What was the reason for that? 🤔

Did you try installing the latest driver (check under Downloads)?

Believe me, I have no clue either. I was just having a total meltdown and reflexively swapped my mouse and webcam positions 🤣
I tried messing around with the driver, but all I get is this constant error 😛please plug-in device 😠 so, I guess I'll try again..
The camera is plugged into the USB port, but the system isn't even acknowledging it exists. I didn't hear the connection sound or get that pop-up saying the system found new 😢hardware
So now what? I'm clearly not a tech genius 🙄 😂

Right-click on This PC, go into System Properties, hit the hardware tab, and then open the Device Manager

Do you see any yellow exclamation points or question marks popping up?

nah, I don't see anything yellow here 😢

Can you see your Logitech Webcam listed in the Device Manager?
Did you try plugging the camera and mouse back into the original USB ports on the tower?

It might actually help if you plug the camera directly into the router or modem—I'm guessing one of those has a spare USB port. 🙄
The router/modem is always running anyway, right? And there's no point even using the camera if you aren't "online."

My camera isn't even showing up in Device Manager yet, and I even plugged it back into the exact same port where it worked fine before.
Nothing is happening here; the system hasn't even recognized the camera.🤷
Everything was working perfectly until I decided to swap ports.🙂
Once it stopped working, obviously I tried swapping them back a few times and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, but nothing works. It's just stuck.😕

🤷 What else am I supposed to suggest, besides having you try plugging that webcam directly into your router or modem, assuming it even has a USB port

And I can't do anything about it because that modem is tucked away behind my bed, way too far from my laptop, so there's no way I'm getting any connection with the camera 😢
Ugh, I honestly don't know what else to do at this point...
Is there seriously no other way? 😁I need to get this fixed ASAP 😉

What kind of laptop are you running? Does it have a built-in webcam that might be (out of nowhere) clashing with this Logitech? 🤔

My laptop is an ASUS, and it doesn't have a built-in camera..
I honestly don't get what the deal is. A few days ago, I got a notification saying new hardware—specifically the camera—was detected, but when I tried to install it again today, all I get is "please plug-in device"😠

Maybe the laptop battery was just dying when you plugged in that new hardware, so you popped it on the charger in the meantime. 🤷

Heh, wouldn't be such a big deal if that were actually the issue, but I'm not even using the battery right now... I just plug it straight into the wall and call it a day. 🙂

Go into your Device Manager and uninstall both the mouse and the webcam. While you're at it, strip out any software tied to them too. Shut down the computer. Unplug everything. Boot it back up. Now, reinstall the mouse first, shut down and restart again, then tackle the webcam...

Alright, I’ve got a problem here too, if anyone can actually help me out!!

My webcam picks up audio just fine, but there's no video at all.
When I fire up MSN, I just get a black screen, and on Skype, everything stays solid green. What's the deal? Any idea what I should do?? 🙂

Which camera are we talking about here?
What version of Windows are you running?
How does the picture actually look inside the webcam app itself?
Might be worth grabbing DirectX 9.0 C while you're at it—sometimes that's the culprit behind these kinds of glitches: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html

It's a Logitech Webcam

Running Windows 7 edition... When I try Skype, it just shows green. On MSN, it's just black. Mic works fine, but the camera won't show any video...

Did you actually grab those drivers from the Trust website—or did you just use the CD if one came in the box? Either way, make sure you get it done.
