Forget those fancy tortes... I'd much rather have some classic American cake. 😂🤣

Anyone here actually tried the pastries at Microsoft? I swear, their stuff is absolutely massive $20!

Thanks velvetraven12! I’m actually in the exact same boat. My boyfriend’s family is from the West Coast, so they’re dying for that crunchy praline cake, but they also want the authentic version. How much does a cake like that usually run out there? I have some relatives visiting from California soon, so I might just see if one of them can grab one for me while they're in town.

Oh, I honestly haven't a clue... truth be told, this was her gift, and she was the one who insisted on it! So, frankly, it's not really my concern! However, I can certainly ask her where she sourced that brittle for her wedding and what the damage was! Do you have something specific in mind? I know most people tend to go with St. Joseph's for these things!

I’m thinking about going with a classic tiered look, maybe 5 to 7 layers. I’d love to hit 7 since it’s actually our 7th anniversary. I checked in with a local bakery over in Brooklyn and the lady there said it would be around $667, but she needs me to bring in a photo so they can give me a solid quote. Honestly, that feels like a lot, especially since we're doing a massive real cake too. We’re planning this huge heart shape with 8 smaller cakes surrounding it, so we'll need to set aside $667 just for the praline cake.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think she’s any less of a failure than the rest of them! But look, we’re facing the exact same scenario here, and we’re going to end up with one classic outcome and one crunchy one! 😁

And hey, the dates actually line up perfectly too. I’m just gonna settle up my bills once I hit the beach in Miami—I've still got plenty of time before then.

And honestly, this croquant is mostly just for show, since most people here in New York City aren't really familiar with how we do things back in California.

How is she actually gonna move that thing though? It looks super fragile to me.

I honestly haven't the slightest clue! I told her plain and simple that I have a batch of brittle to whip up right here in New York City! But she just won't listen to reason! She’s insistent on sourcing it herself, just as you laid it out... I’m completely in the dark! And look, if the whole thing falls apart... we'll just break it into little pieces and share them anyway! 😁

We’re actually planning on having two separate cakes... one just sitting there in reserve... and then this other one we’ll present to the guests first... I suppose at midnight, we'll bring out this little mini cake... and instead of doing the whole traditional slicing thing, my partner and I are thinking about just diving fingers-first into it... and tasting it right then and there... purely to see the looks on everyone's faces... though, of course, the real showstopper comes later... it's going to be this massive, gorgeous thing decorated with 25 red roses... 🙂

We were thinking about doing the one with the croquant, then once the cake is served, just grab a spatula and go to town on it, California style. I bet people who don't know our traditions would be absolutely floored—honestly, I was just as shocked when I saw it happen for the first time.

And then, of course, we’d top it all off with a massive, over-the-top cake 🙂

Arthur Gonzalez6 said:Hey guys, does anyone know where I can order a croquant cake here in New York City? Looking for something that won't break the bank. In San Francisco, they go up to $167, but I need enough to cover about 5 to 7 tiers. Please help a girl out!

Alright ladies, I got you—I went through the same struggle but finally cracked the code!
So, you can actually order Bob's croquant cakes at Madison Square Garden—there's a Bob's shop located right inside the Tommy Hilfiger section. They have a full cake catalog, and the goods are shipped in from California to NYC twice a week!
I'm guessing prices will be similar to what you find in California, which is a bit more than the $167 Arthur Gonzalez6 mentioned, but definitely cheaper than what places like Vincent charge (they quoted me something like $50-$75 just to get a cake like that from Vincent!!!)
Hope this helps!😍

Hi ladies, I was wondering if anyone here might have some insight into how much they usually charge per pound at a small local bakery.

Finally settled on the dessert situation—we’re going with The Cookie Jar!!! Both the cookies and the cake will be from them. One less thing to worry about, I guess... 😍😍😍😍
