Michael Martinez16 said:So what's the deal with those Kašnar cookies? Are they actually good?

Michael Martinez16, we actually had some of those treats from Kašnar once, and let me tell you, everyone was raving about them!
In my opinion, their sweets are absolutely divine...
My mother-in-law is quite the expert when it comes to baking... her cakes and pies are truly out of this world.
When she gave them her seal of approval and said they were phenomenal, I knew they really were...
And there were a few other women in our circle who work in the catering industry and know their way around a kitchen... they all sang their praises too...

I’m back at Cukeraj again... honestly, I think we might just end up getting everything from them after all...

I am well aware that wedding expenses can spiral out of control, but ladies, please—do not skimp on the dessert table. I truly believe that is what guests care about most. When you consider the exorbitant fees for a videographer and their entire crew, you'll see that hiring a pastry chef is actually quite reasonable by comparison. You simply cannot find high-quality sweets for pennies on the dollar. The truly exquisite treats involve chocolate, walnuts, or hazelnuts... and those ingredients aren't cheap. It is easy enough to whip up some mediocre cookies for $17/lb, but let’s be honest: those usually taste identical, varying only in shape or perhaps a splash of artificial coloring and extract.
I personally baked the desserts for my sister's wedding—about 65 pounds worth—so I know firsthand the sheer amount of labor required to produce something genuinely delicious and visually appealing. There is a world of difference in a decadent chocolate fudge brownie versus something mass-produced, or peach cobbler infused with real bourbon rather than cheap flavoring.

Oh man, this really struck a nerve with me! The *most* important thing???? Seriously? I honestly can't think of a single guest I've ever had who cared about the dessert more than anything else. Even for me—and I am a total sugar addict—sweets wouldn't even crack my top five wedding essentials! 🙄
To my mind, the real heavy hitters are having a killer band or DJ, a spectacular cake, great food, and excellent wine.
At the last three weddings I attended, I didn't eat a single bite of dessert (and again, I love sweets), and from what all my friends who've been married say, there's always a mountain of leftovers left over anyway. Since I'm not planning on handing out party favors to everyone on their way out, I have zero interest in paying a premium for food that's just going to sit there untouched. That's it!
I'm capping my dessert spend at $23 per pound, and frankly, I don't care what anyone else thinks about it.

Ooh, I love Sugar Land (assuming you mean the one over by the park)! I'm also a huge fan of Orient, Meli, and Piece of Cake... Has anyone here actually ordered wedding treats from any of those places before?

Orlandica - look, don't get worked up. My experience has been completely different from yours. For me, the dessert spread is a massive deal. Whenever my friends or acquaintances talk about a wedding, the sweets are always part of the conversation. We always send boxes home—to neighbors, friends from the office, people who weren't even at the ceremony. That’s just how I roll, and I’d easily put it in my top five wedding essentials. Of course, saying it's the *most* important thing would be an exaggeration, but I used that for dramatic effect 😁

What really sticks in my craw, though, is this constant complaining from people saying the desserts were mediocre or just "not their thing," yet they still refuse to pay for them. It makes you wonder... maybe the reason the sweets don't leave a lasting impression on the guests, or why they aren't being eaten, is precisely because they simply weren't any good 🤷

slycobra53 - my godmother picked up a cake from Magnolia Bakery, but if I’m being totally honest—it wasn't anything to write home about, though it wasn't overpriced either—that's just the truth of it...

I’ve always been a huge fan of those super dry, crumbly cookies from Trader Joe's—especially the Melieri ones (if I'm remembering the name right)—but I haven't really ventured into their cakes yet. That’s actually why I tend to gravitate toward those rich, Middle Eastern style desserts and pastries instead. Though, looking at the budget, maybe ordering full-on cakes for a wedding might be a bit overkill? Everything I've picked up from Magnolia Bakery has been delicious, but let's be honest, they aren't exactly cheap either, right? Even there, I usually find myself reaching for the individual pastries rather than the big cakes.

haha, only you could get this worked up over a display stand! 🤣 honestly, you're such a snob about it. but hey, I guess there's a method to the madness—at least you know exactly what you want. meanwhile, I’m always just wandering aimlessly through a maze of endless possibilities...😕 personally, those cookies are a huge deal to me since I actually love eating them, so I'm stuck in a total dilemma here..

Those matter just as much to me—because if you ask me, you can tell everything you need to know about a wedding just by looking at the dessert spread... unfortunately for some people...

Honestly, I am already losing my mind with all the planning, work, and everything else...
My family never really comments on the sweets either, but oh boy, let me tell you 😉
And I definitely don't have any plans to send out dessert boxes. It's just more work, plus there's the extra cost of buying all those fancy little containers, so I decided to cut that expense entirely from my budget.

I could really use some help here. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect dessert.
We recently tried Kašnar, and they were actually pretty good—not life-changing, but definitely the best we’ve had so far. My only gripe is how they cut them; they're such small bites that it feels like you're just snacking rather than enjoying a real treat...

I’ve noticed people on here recommending Cookie House quite a bit. Has anyone actually ordered from them before?
What about srčeko?

Finding the right sweets is a big deal for me because my guests are total dessert fanatics...

Well, if you already think Kašnar is good, I'm sure you could just talk to them and have them cut the pieces exactly how you want them.

Look, if you ask me, keeping the portions small is actually a genius move. It lets guests sample a little bit of everything without feeling overwhelmed. You know how it goes—someone grabs a massive slice, realizes it’s not their thing, and then leaves 90% of it sitting there on the plate before grabbing something else. Or worse, they overindulge and end up feeling sick, so they stop eating altogether. Besides, since you're buying by the pound anyway, the cutting style doesn't really matter; the total weight stays the same, and people definitely notice when you're being thoughtful about the servings.

Yeah, they are! A friend actually told me today that she had some treats from Sugarland at a wedding recently and said they were incredible.
I think I really need to go try them myself...

I honestly think those small cookies from Kašnar are just incredible 🙂

Girls, I’ve got a cake tasting scheduled at Sugarland the day after tomorrow—wish me luck so I can actually make up my mind right away, because if I don't... I'll probably end up gaining a hundred pounds... 😂

Honestly, I haven't quite decided yet... though I think I’m leaning toward something fruity, just to be safe...

One thing that makes my life a little easier—and I'll take any win I can get—is that each tier of the cake is sitting on its own individual stand. That way, I don't have to obsess over whether the bottom layer is sturdy enough to support a lighter sponge on top... which is definitely a relief... 🙂

Personally, I find the Strawberry Icewind at Sugarland to be incredible—just delicious! It’s also great with chocolate. While I wouldn't say their other cakes blew me away, they certainly aren't bad by any means...

After doing a lot of thinking, I’ve decided I might go with Vincek for the wedding cake. In my opinion, their decorations are the most elegant—provided you remind them a hundred times that you don't want anything tacky. Plus, my mom, my aunts, and the whole older crowd won't accept a cake unless it's loaded with chocolate and walnuts. But then again, when I look at the guest list and think about what would actually delight the younger crowd, I think it would either be a cheesecake (either from Torte&to or maybe myself 😉) or that strawberry chocolate Icewind from Sugarland... So, I'm leaning towards choosing Vincek for the main wedding cake, plus a few other varieties for those who prefer something different. My absolute favorite is the little Vincekov chocolate cups, but since there's only $11 (?!?!), once I realize I need at least 140 of them, the cost just becomes too much... 😢

We will probably get the cookies from Mel's. Sorry, I know I should be reading the previous posts, but I just haven't had the time. So please—where is Kašner?
