Yeah—that’s always such a tough call to make... honestly, I’d much rather overdo it and have plenty left over to share than end up running short...

Plus, there's always someone who'd love a piece—I'll just bring some into my office, then maybe drop some off at his workplace too—they eat everything you bring through those doors, no matter what it is... 🤣

One bakery told me that enough salad for eight people would just be a few pounds, which feels a bit light to me...
While another shop suggested about 7 ounces per person for the salad, but that actually seems like quite a lot to me....

So, what’s the move here—how far in advance do you think I actually need to get these cookies on the books?

It really depends on where you go, maybe at one of those more popular spots about three or four months out.

I'm thinking Monday will be my absolute deadline, since I still have two months left.

It just occurred to me now... at my last gathering, we had about three pounds spread across the table for eight guests...

Are you feeling full yet? I’m expecting about 190 people, which means roughly 75 lbs plus another 65 lbs for the gift boxes, and then an extra bit for the local community center... Uuuuugh, I’m gonna need 150 pounds total!

It was plenty, and honestly, we still had leftovers... though I suppose it really just depends on the specific wedding...

Wait, why 65 lbs just for the favor boxes? You aren't planning on handing out a separate box to every single guest, right?

Girls, I’ve got a cake tasting scheduled at Sugarland the day after tomorrow—wish me luck so I can actually make up my mind right away, because if I don't... I'll probably end up gaining a hundred pounds... 😂

We are all waiting for the report on Cukeraj, because I am genuinely curious to hear how it goes.🙂🙂🙂

🙂

My husband actually brought home eight different cakes and six varieties of pastries today... 🙂

I'm saving the full cakes to try tonight with the rest of the family, but I'll admit—I already polished off most of the pastries because, well, self-control isn't really my thing when things look this good... and they are honestly spectacular...
You can tell right away that these use real homemade doughs and actual authentic creams...
The Canadian chocolate cake is 🙏 absolutely perfect, with that deep, dark chocolate cream that you just expect from a quality bakery...
The poppy seed squares are so moist, too, all covered in this gorgeous, thick layer of chocolate...
They also had some walnut ones with walnut cream—just incredible—and they aren't overly greasy either, just perfectly creamy...
And there was one chocolate one that was just wonderful—chocolate sponge, then a cherry cream filling, topped off with a chocolate frosting that feels just like mousse...
There were coconut treats too, plus a nut bar—which, mind you, I usually find everywhere else is way too dry, but theirs was lovely... and oh, those walnut crescents... so good... 🙂

I'll give an update on the larger cakes later tonight... we’re going to have to take pictures of all of them, otherwise, we won't be able to remember which one was which when we want seconds! 🤣

I told you 😉
the cakes are actually superior; occasionally they improve by the following day once the texture settles and the sponge becomes more moist. My personal favorites are the chocolate icebox cake and cheesecake, though you really ought to sample the cream puffs 🤣 because they are phenomenal.

I sampled them just moments ago, and they are quite delicious 😍 I shall wait until this evening to allow my mother to provide her assessment, which will ensure a more expert verdict. They are notably moist and tender—a relief, as I have little patience for dry pastries—offering both creamy varieties and miniature jelly donuts. Truly delightful. 🙂

Jacob White37 - I’ve actually tried those cream puffs before—they were absolutely perfect... they didn't have that weird, silly foam texture you find at some local bakeries in Connecticut, but they weren't overly stiff like those stuffy pastry shops that load everything with gelatin... they had just the right amount of softness 😉

As for the ones from the bakery near my place—totally delicious... 🙂 I’m a sucker for the smaller creamy pastries myself, so I think I’ll grab a box of the mini Princesses and those little fruit tarts too—though I might ask them to top mine specifically with just wild berries and strawberries... just to get a better color palette going 😉

How many pounds of cookies are we talking about at Sugarland?
Also, does anyone happen to know where the hearty spot is located?

I pay for those cream pies by the slice... honestly, I haven't the slightest clue how many pieces one person actually eats 😕

I’m pretty sure it was at Sugar Land $43... though I didn't actually ask, to be honest 😢 I completely blanked out on that part...

The cake report: absolutely stunning... well, except for one that just wasn't it...

There were quite a few similar options, so for now, we've narrowed it down to four contenders:
1. The bottom layer is this dark, rich, slightly bitter crust—then comes a dark chocolate cream followed by whipped cream—that one is my favorite because he's such a sucker for dark chocolate
2. An Ice Wind cake, naturally 🙂
3. A fruit one—honestly, just divine—this one had kiwi and banana, but I think we could probably swap in different fruits if we wanted to...
4. Some sort of version with a firmer parfait cream, featuring a meringue-style pastry inside, plus there's this little tangy filling that gives it such a unique kick...

Options 2 and 3 are definitely in, and for the third slot, we're still deciding between 1 and 4...

There were also:
- A triple chocolate one—dark, milk, and white—it looks gorgeous
- Something like a classic hazelnut cake with toasted hazelnuts inside—really tasty, but maybe a bit too traditional
- A cheesecake—which I personally love, but it doesn't feel quite right for a wedding setting
- And one that nobody liked—just a really strange flavor that I can't even put my finger on...

I just worked it out with my local bakery—they suggested 4 pastries per person if we're doing it at a restaurant, and maybe 2 per person if it's a casual thing at my place. That’s their math, though; they always handle the calculations for me.

Hey everyone, so since April 18th is creeping up on us... and we still haven't settled on the cakes or dessert situation... what do you all think about getting treats from Emma’s Bakery? I’ve ordered from them a few times before and they were honestly incredible... they just have that authentic, homemade vibe.

Has anyone else worked with them? And more importantly—how many pounds should I actually order? 🤷(I know, I know, every baker asks that the second you call them up!) We have 100 people coming, and we need enough to serve at home, have plenty at the restaurant, and even some to hand out as parting gifts when people leave. Please, help a girl out!

Thanks! 😍

I’d say if you’re looking at feeding about 100 people, maybe 22 pounds of treats would be plenty. We were actually told that 33 pounds would be more than enough for our group of 170, and honestly, if my past experience is any indication, there's always going to be some leftovers anyway. It's kind of like when you buy a big bag of chips for a party—you think you've got enough, but then you realize you've got extra tucked away in the pantry.
As far as Emma is concerned, they have some really lovely pastries over there, and I’m actually planning on picking up a cake from them too, but for me, $30the difference of a couple of pounds of sweets isn't even worth the hassle.
