For a group of 120, we usually stick to about 7 kilos. That works out to roughly half a kilo per table, and since there are about 30 to 35 little treats in a kilo, it seems sufficient for a table of 8 to 10 people. Besides, we also have various desserts laid out on the buffet; these small bites are really just meant to be an extra option.

I had one of their cakes at a birthday party once and it was killer. Have you ever tried any of their stuff specifically for weddings?
I was actually thinking about heading out toward the suburbs to check out that Chocolate cake place—supposedly they're just as good, right? ??????
Any chance you remember what the price per pound is over at Monica?
Thanks! 🙂

The cookies are actually pretty good, but they're charging $27/kg

I haven't tried her cakes personally, nor have I asked about pricing. I assume it's around $27/lb, based on what the girls are saying. 🙂

Honestly, I think that’s more than enough. At least, based on what other girls are saying about having pounds of cake left over at the end of the night.

The word I heard was more like 0.5 pounds per person. For 120 guests, that’s basically 50 some odd pounds of cookies... 😲 So, yeah, $640just the cookies, not counting any cake...
And that’s strictly for the venue—not including anything brought from home or extra treats to hand out later... 👎
If anyone knows a spot with better prices (maybe around $1.50-$20/lb) that actually delivers, let me know! I'd really appreciate it. 😉

Honestly, all these different regulations and guidelines are driving me absolutely bonkers... I feel like I'm losing my mind just trying to keep up! In one bakery, they told me everyone should have about a third of a pound of dessert, but then another shop suggested closer to half a pound per person. To top it all off, I was chatting with a woman at a wedding expo over at Madison Square Garden, and she told me that if I'm hosting 250 people, I should be looking at roughly 130 to 150 pounds of sweets—and that's without even counting any extra I might want to serve! I was just standing there completely stunned by that last suggestion. Can anyone please give me some real-world advice on how much dessert I should actually order for the reception hall and for our place? Plus, we’re having a big lunch the very next day, so I’ll need enough treats for that too...

You definitely don't need a quarter pound of cake per person—I mean, that’s basically a massive serving if you think about it...
Well, I’ll certainly be eating my share, but let's just say I'm not exactly following the rules here...🤣
You really should aim for an average instead—personally, I'd say a maximum of about half a pound per person is plenty...

I can easily polish off half a pound myself, so I probably shouldn't judge based on my own appetite😁 but honestly, I feel like bakeries just overstuff those poor little treats just to jack up the price. Let's be real—with a full spread of food on the table, who's actually going to gorge themselves on dessert?
Plus, spending $50 or more just on sweets... personally, I'd rather save every cent for home renovations instead of blowing it on overpriced cake... 😕
I don't even know what else to say... 🤷

I’m honestly struggling with these portion guidelines too... I’m just hosting a small wedding for about 25 people, so if I grab 25 ounces per person, there’s no way that much food is going to sit around without going bad. Besides, my crowd is the type where I’m better off making the desserts thicker and cutting back on the meat. Let’s be real: when there's a massive spread of sweets sitting right there, who’s actually going to want to eat steak? 😂

Hey ladies, let’s be real—we all tend to go overboard on dessert when we're at a birthday party and have a nice two or three-hour gap after lunch... 😉 naturally, that gives us plenty of room to indulge... at least it does for me! 😬

But at a wedding, where there's constant food being served and most guests aren't even thinking about dessert until much later, I honestly don't think you need to overdo it. In my opinion, providing about one pound of cake for every five or six people is more than enough... 😉

I’d say about a third of a pound of cake per person should be plenty for the reception—so we're looking at roughly 35 to 45 pounds total if there are 150 guests attending.
Now, if you're planning on sending people home with treats, you'll need to adjust your math. For instance, if you're doing little gift boxes for couples—say, a 12-ounce box for a friend and her husband—you'd need an extra 45 pounds of cake just to cover 75 pairs.
Of course, I'm not planning on handing the wedding party a measly 12-ounce box; I'll be picking up much larger containers for them, probably around two pounds each, to make sure they feel properly appreciated.

Honestly, 10-15 lbs is definitely enough for you guys... I’ve already mentioned that when I was catering for 120 people, I went with about 45 lbs, and half of it just sat there... And that was for a winter wedding—you'd think people would be craving sweets more when it's freezing out compared to some summer heatwave—but yeah, there was just way too much food left over.

it’s all just melodies...

I’ve been gathering all these stories from people who actually went through with a wedding this past year... honestly, if I had my way, I’d just head to the courthouse with my best man and call it a day. But instead, here I am, watching the love of my life plan out some massive wedding production...😁😁

So, we're looking at 10-15 ounces per person, and if we're doing little favor boxes for guests, maybe another 10 ounces per box? 😉

So, my aunt told us about 33 to 35 pounds should cover us for roughly 60 people—and that’s assuming we’re bringing enough to share at the office, plus feeding my in-laws and my own folks too. We’re planning on portioning it out to everyone and just letting people grab what they want at the tables. We aren't doing any big fancy reception or anything at home. But honestly? My mother-in-law is already stressing me out, telling me that it's way too little grrr 😠

I wouldn't count on that—it probably depends on how big those containers actually are.

Drew Wells, honestly, you'll have plenty.
We had so much left over from our 45lb batch that my mom ended up handing out treats to 40 people the next day, and then my partner and I brought enough to share at work, and we still had leftovers sitting in the pantry.

Has anyone picked up any cakes or pies from Whole Foods lately?
