Jeremy Thomas5, I’m actually about to tear up here. Of course they’re freaking out. It’s totally normal. My folks practically tried to pay for a chauffeur when I told them I was driving myself around town. It was constant 🙂, but honestly? I don't give a damn. 🤷 Once my husband finally said "enough is enough," I just hung my keys up on a hook and now everyone else is breathing down my neck. 😳 Look, we just do what we agree on. Period. Other people can talk all they want. Take my father-in-law, for example. He had this one massive, stubborn vision for our wedding that would have completely hijacked the whole thing. He refused to budge. So, we gave him an answer: fine, if you don't like it, you don't have to come. And just like that—peace and quiet. Now he’s barely even in the picture.

But I am not shifting my plans just because someone starts whining. Let it all go south for all I care. Good grief, you just get in the car and drive. It’s not like you’re going to be pushing him down the street manually. 🤦

Thanks! I really needed to hear that from someone like you...
Honestly, I’m not even going to be the one driving. I'll just happily sit in the passenger seat. We'll just head out whenever we feel like it, grab some food, have a few drinks, maybe some cookies... I am genuinely looking forward to this summer getaway. And hey, I'm hoping I don't go into labor while we're down there, but then again, if it happens, it happens.

Look, if heaven forbid the baby comes early, you just pick up some mid-tier sedan or whatever and deal with it later. I get the logic behind everything, really, I do, but acting like we need to go into full panic mode—as if she’s out there hiking the Rocky Mountains on foot or something—is just 🙄.

..mm, well, we’re actually heading to the coast this Saturday! We were originally aiming for June, but life just kind of got in the way and things piled up, you know? So, we'll be there for ten days... and I'm five months along now. Everything was fine until this morning when my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and both my husband's uncle and aunt basically cornered me to give me the "talk." I can't really say anything to my husband about it, so I guess they figured they could just try to scare me off... but honestly, I think I'm even more stubborn than he is! 🤣... ..they're all telling us to be so careful, suggesting we leave a day early so we can stay overnight somewhere first (as if we're trekking all the way to China instead of just driving to Martha's Vineyard!), warning me not to bump into anything, saying I should sit in the back seat so I can lie down (and what, throw up??), and then they had the nerve to suggest I shouldn't swim in the ocean because of bacteria. I mean, seriously, bacteria in the ocean? 🙄 As if! I wouldn't step foot in a swimming pool if someone paid me, gross! Then there's the whole "what are we going to eat?" and "what if you feel sick, where will you find a doctor?" (like we're living in the middle of nowhere, right?), and then the classic line that first-time moms have to be super cautious because once you have one, everything just settles back into place and you can do whatever you want... wtf???.... 😠😠 ..give me a break! My blood pressure was through the roof, but I just laughed in their faces and told them: "okay, sounds good..." 👋 he he
..so, Jeremy Thomas5, I totally get where you're coming from, but I'd say just ignore the noise and stick to your own plans, provided your doctor gives you the green light! 👍

Honestly, it drives me absolutely nuts when everyone starts acting like they’ve got a PhD in my life...
They walk around acting like they're some kind of geniuses, sticking their noses into stuff that has zero to do with them.

I don't see any damn reason why a pregnant woman can't hit the beach. People keep treating pregnant women like they're incapacitated—and I mean that in the loosest sense of the word—like we're all suddenly bedridden or something. It’s obviously better to be by the ocean where you can actually cool off instead of melting on some scorching hot pavement. Plus, relaxation and downtime is exactly what we need most right now...
My take? If you're staying near a major city (like NYC, Chicago, or LA...), there shouldn't be any issues at all. If God forbid something goes sideways, we can always just head home to get checked out.
And let's be real, we aren't kids anymore. Our parents—or even worse, our in-laws—don't get to pull the strings on our decisions.
This is *our* pregnancy and *our* baby, period. We are the ones responsible for them.

I'm due at the end of June, so I'm really hoping to squeeze in a weekend at the coast during my ninth month. I know, I know, it might not be the smartest move once I'm that far along, but still...
I just live for the ocean, and right now, I would give anything just to spend a weekend by the water.
I already told Jason Lee2 that he can spend the whole day grabbing beers with his best man (we've actually done beach trips with them before), while I'll just chill in the rental. Honestly, if I manage to jump in the water even once, I'll be happy as hell. 👍
He’s been teasing me lately, saying he's going to the beach without me. He's clearly just trying to get a rise out of me, but I have to admit, being pregnant makes me pretty hard to rattle. 😕

Green light from me too...
We aren't hitting the coast this year—specifically, we usually head to Key West, which always happens to clash right with my due date. Honestly, I wouldn't dare go down there in July, even a month before the baby arrives. It’s a total wasteland out there—no major hospitals, just some tiny little clinic (and while the doctor there is great, still... hm). Plus, if the weather turns, the ferries just stop running entirely. But Miami? That's a completely different story!

Waiting in line at the local clinic in downtown Chicago for blood work today:
It was basically the same mess as a few months back, though the waiting room was actually half-empty this time, which made me think I’d get seen way faster. They had these two separate drop boxes for referrals: one specifically for pregnant women and one for everyone else.
But man, I still ended up sitting there for fifty fucking minutes! 😠 There were a couple of other pregnant ladies there too, just grumbling and looking confused about the whole setup. And don't even get me started on how they were letting all the non-pregnant people cut right in front of us without a second thought.
It happened exactly the same way a few months ago when my husband came with me; he got his blood drawn and then just breezed through the line about thirty minutes before I even got close. 😲
I honestly don't get why they need a special little box just for pregnancy referrals anyway?!? 😠

It drives me absolutely insane how my aunt constantly lectures me every single time we talk or see each other. She just keeps repeating, "You have to be careful!" over and over again.

I mean, seriously, do I really look that brainless? Does she think I don't realize there are things you just shouldn't do while pregnant, or like I’m actually going to go out of my way to be reckless?!

Today, she calls up, my husband picks up, she asks what I'm doing, he says I'm just cleaning out the fridge... and of course, there it is: "You've got to be careful!" Careful of what, exactly? What am I supposed to be protecting myself from inside a refrigerator? Polar bears? 😠😠😠😠

Bought a mountain of vegetables today, thinking I’d actually force myself to eat healthy. Big mistake. At this rate, a whole new ecosystem is going to evolve in my crisper drawer before any of this hits my plate. My passion for nutritious food has officially evaporated; honestly, the only thing keeping me going right now is beef . And all the processed junk that comes with it. 🤦
It’s infuriating, too 😠

The only silver lining is that I can at least drag myself to the stove to cook this damn meat properly, instead of just eating it rare like I usually prefer...😢

🤮

I’m a huge meat eater too, and I’m genuinely curious about what my cravings will be like once I’m pregnant 🤔 I bet I’ll be absolutely obsessed with some kind of junk food 🤦

but I'll make sure to eat plenty of veggies 🙂

Just my two cents.
If I could just hook myself up to a natural gas tank, I'd have our heating sorted for the entire winter.

Don't you worry, that phase will end the moment you have a baby—and once you do, you'll spend at least a year hearing nothing but "Watch over my grandbaby!" at the end of every conversation. I suppose they wouldn't be so worried otherwise... 🤣

Call me a grouch, but seeing people openly begging for "sales and discounts" in these threads... 🙄
it just gets under my skin.

To be perfectly honest, that sentiment struck a bit of a nerve with me as well...🙄

And seriously, it’s the same thing every two posts... threads about donations and all that... I mean, just start a new thread if you need help, right? If I were in one of my usual moods, I’d probably write a whole manifesto on what—and I mean what, not some miracle 🙄—actually causes pregnancy, plus a little something about teen moms or being unemployed and pregnant... But yeah, better to just keep my mouth shut 🙂

I’m probably just as cynical as you are 😬, but this is actually getting under my skin... Maybe it's because I'm not exactly a religious person, but I can't shake the feeling that if there is a God, He looks out for those who look out for themselves... He doesn't just let pregnancies slip through pills and condoms that easily. And let's be real, those are way cheaper than baby gear...

I'm terrible... but there's no point pretending I'm any better than I am...🤦🤷

bolded 😂🤣😂🤣
I'm 😍 😍 😍
you. Look, this one is actually pretty dark. Imagine she's 16, out of school, jobless, and blessed with a baby? It could always be worse.
I rarely jump on this topic because I don't really relate to most of what was said, but after reading your post, I spent a few seconds wondering if I should report it to the mods for being off-topic. 😈

You aren't terrible—you’re just honest and grounded.
Look, pregnancy is either the result of unprotected sex or IVF. In this case, we know it's definitely not the latter. So, like you said, contraception is cheaper in every possible scenario. Honestly, whenever people start bringing up "divine plans," I lose it. 🙄 If you a) aren't having sex, or b) you're using reliable birth control, then God can try getting pregnant all he wants—the chances of him sending down some "miracle" or "blessing" are basically zero 🙄 . Unless you think you're some holy candidate for conception, but if that's the case, there are other medical departments for that kind of thing... 🙄
It just bugs me. I KNOW the kid isn't at fault. But damn, before they're even born, they're already being judged—simply because people don't think. I really feel like the world would be a much better place if there was just a little more actual responsibility involved...
Madness, love ya 😍 (even more than yesterday, ever since I picked up those Bell Labs glitters 🤣)

I’ve taken a bit of a deep dive into the posts made by this individual over on the discount thread, and frankly, it seems she’s looking to stock up on everything under the sun—from high-end skincare to baby gear. It feels less like genuine necessity and more like she’s trying to run a side hustle out of her living room. At any rate, I find her approach just as aggravating as everyone else does...

Look, maybe I look like a total idiot, but unlike the rest of you, I just couldn't keep my mouth shut when it comes to this person 😛
I just hope the same God who sent her that kid doesn't come after me too 🙄
Seems like there are a few more of us who have been driven absolutely insane by her 😉
