Yeah, Yehane, you just reminded me of something... He literally scans me from head to toe every single time we hang out. It’s like he’s constantly calculating if I’ve gained weight or something. And then, of course, he drops one of those "little jokes" about my weight. Like, seriously? Isn't that just incredibly rude, even if I'm not pregnant or anything? Ugh!

I think you’ve put on like 45 pounds—you can't just say it like that. Maybe once the pregnancy is over, you'll end up even thinner than you were before
It’s only like 5 pounds and she’s out here talking this much trash, so what the hell is her problem?! 😠
She's being totally moronic (sorry for insulting your mother-in-law) but honestly, if you weren't pregnant, I bet if you gained 5 pounds she wouldn't even notice it.
God, stuff like this drives me absolutely insane

Hey 🙂

I don't even feel like a "real" pregnant woman yet since I'm only six weeks along. This week or next, I'm just praying to hear a heartbeat, but I have to vent to someone or I’m actually going to explode...

So, last Friday, I had some spotting. After overthinking it for ages, I ended up at the ER. Luckily, it stopped. The doctor didn't even see any actual blood—just this yellowish discharge and a tiny little speck, 5+6. So, fine. Whatever.

Today, I had more of that gross pink discharge again. Not red, not brown, just straight-up pink. It lasted a few seconds and then stopped instantly—like a capillary burst or something. But whatever, I just curl up on the couch and call my mom to tell her I won't be coming over this afternoon.

And her response? She basically calls me crazy if I think I need to rest. She claims she bled through her entire first trimester with me and I still turned out perfectly normal. She says I shouldn't even worry about it, that every other woman has a miscarriage these days, and honestly, thank God if it happens to me too because I can just have another one. 😠😢😠😢😠
She even had the nerve to insist it's because I sit and write too much. As if my urine somehow travels from my urethra directly into the gestational sac and causes chaos in there.😠

Nobody on this planet hates resting more than I do. The only reason I still go to work is because it’s mostly a desk job and my coworkers are being easy on me. Plus, I work at a hospital, so I feel safer knowing the OB-GYN department is right there. If I didn't feel the need to calm down, I wouldn't be doing this. But I'm an idiot—I don't have the mental strength to snap back at her that she had the right to decide her pregnancy, and I have the right to decide mine. Instead, I just feel guilty for disappointing her. I feel like I'm not "strong" enough because I can't just bleed, walk to her house, maybe drive her to the mall, and handle it all while delivering a perfect daughter who will struggle to meet my expectations just like I'm struggling to meet hers.

Then she starts lecturing me about how one of my colleagues decided to prioritize her scientific career first and have kids only after she becomes a big name. How she works non-stop, bought a massive 1,000-square-foot condo (while my husband and I are stuck in a studio apartment), and how her husband does all the laundry and cooking so she can just focus on her research and stack up cash...

Well, I'm thirty fucking years old, and I just passed my boards and started my PhD, damn it...🙂 what else does she want from me?🙂

Sorry for this massive shit dump, but I feel so pathetic, like absolutely no one on this planet understands me. To top it off, my husband is talking crap, telling me I'm stressing for no reason and that my nerves will hurt the little one... as if I have an On/Off switch for my emotions! And he keeps nagging me that my heart is racing too much.

Sorry again. 🙂

Don't even bother apologizing; you're talking about a serious issue here, so feel free to vent to Paul Diaz602 as much as you need.

I honestly cannot believe that bolded part.😲 Look, I'm sorry, but I wouldn't say something like that to my worst enemy, let alone my own daughter.😢
As for the blue part...😂
Look, I know she's your mom, but Biserka is being pretty intense here too.🙄

Just focus on resting and listening to your own body. Right now, YOU are the mother to that little one, and you need to do whatever you feel is best to take care of them! 😘

Hang in there, dear...
Just focus on staying relaxed so everything goes smoothly... stay off your feet and get some rest...

But this... sorry... but this is even more ridiculous than that local idiot in my neighborhood who didn't even finish high school, claiming she went to her OB-GYN and a condom got stuck in her—so she just ended up pooping it out.😲

Man, seriously... instead of actually being there for you, your mom is acting like... well, she’s just totally out of line right now.
If you're bleeding even a little bit, just slow down and for the love of god, stay still. You have to listen to what your body is telling you. Just drop everything and rest.

And about this whole "success" thing... honestly? You're 30 and finishing up a PhD. Medical school is (if I'm remembering correctly) an absolute beast on its own. In my book—and honestly, most people's too—you've already made it. Period.

Sending a huge hug your way.

Rebecca Vaughn7, hang in there... and don't listen to any of that nonsense—not even from your own mother. I know it sucks, but just try to tune everything out as much as you can. Besides, you can always come here to vent! It actually helps, trust me...
I just happily crossed off another workday; didn't talk to a single soul from my husband's side of the family, so it was a win in my book. Meanwhile, my poor mother-in-law is probably sitting there hoping I'll end up looking like a tank after pregnancy, just like she did. And who knows, I'll probably lose half my teeth too—women in their forties are already losing half their gums... damn, if they actually brushed them once in a while, maybe they wouldn't be falling out... ☕

😂😂
you're out of your mind!!!!

but just remember how that mother-in-law treats you when you eventually become a mother-in-law yourself, so you don't end up acting just like her.

This was basically my mantra during the ultrasound... 🤦
I’m gonna start putting money into a college fund the second they're born, then once they move out, they can figure out their own life and who they want to hang with. I’m staying out of it... (someone please remind me of this later)

I actually feel a little better now... thanks, ladies 🙂

My mom just called to offer her "support" again 😬 and here’s the kicker: she genuinely believes that telling me how she worked through four months of bleeding without resting is somehow encouraging. She really thinks that helps...
Then she had the nerve to mention she heard about two other women who recently had miscarriages. As if hearing that I'm not the only one makes this any less of a nightmare. 🤦

And of course, we get the classic lecture about how women used to work the fields while bleeding and still popped out ten kids like it was nothing...🙄

So, tell me—am I losing my mind if I actually prefer working at a slower pace right now? 🤷 I felt great at the office today. My coworkers have been incredibly supportive; I mostly just sit, and they bring me coffee or soda...😍 As crazy as it sounds, I feel better there than I do at home. At least there, I can distract myself from the absolute worst-case scenarios constantly looping in my head.

😘 Thanks again, everyone. I really do feel a bit lighter now 😘

Rebecca Vaughn7 look, I’ve already told you, you’re the absolute expert on your own body and what it can handle, so if you feel fine at work—and your doctor hasn't gone out of their way to order strict bed rest or anything crazy like that—then honestly, I don't see why you shouldn't just keep going 😉
. Especially since your job isn't exactly a high-stress nightmare.

Lately, I’ve just been feeling so incredibly down and frustrated because:
1. My body started dilating at 28 weeks, so now I'm stuck on strict bed rest
2. I’ve already put on 26 pounds, even though I promised myself I’d watch my weight this time around
3. I’ve already spotted two stretch marks popping up on my belly
4. This random rash showed up on my face
5. Dealing with brutal constipation was a nightmare—I actually ended up needing a catheter for a few days because I couldn't go
6. I missed the deadline for filing my paperwork, so my disability benefits won't kick in until next month instead of this one
7. Since I’m stuck in bed and both grandmas are still working full-time, I had to enroll my oldest into preschool
8. I’m spiraling thinking about how she'll adjust... I'm terrified she'll cry for me, and my conscience is just eating me alive
9. My husband is working crazy hours all day, so I really can't count on him for much help right now
11. Since I'm stuck in bed all day, I notice every single speck of dust, but I'm not allowed to clean and nobody else can get here to help
12. My hormones are totally wrecking me; I can't stop crying
13. The weather is finally getting beautiful and sunny, but me and my little girl are trapped inside
14. I haven't bought a single thing or even started prepping for the baby yet, and I have no clue when I'll actually be allowed to move around
15. I am honestly terrified that my cervix will keep dilating and they'll end up admitting me to the hospital for the next two months until I deliver

I am so incredibly sorry you're going through all of this—really, I am. But please, try not to beat yourself up over having to put your little girl in daycare. You aren't doing this by choice; it's just the reality of your situation right now, and you have to prioritize your health.

I am actually going to lose my mind. It’s been 19 weeks—full 19—and I still don't feel a single thing. Nothing. I’m losing it. I’m convinced I should’ve felt movement by now; all I can think about is whether something is wrong, and honestly? I just eat everything in sight. My next ultrasound isn't until April 4th, and I'm about ready to jump out of my skin waiting.
Then there’s my husband, who makes it even better by telling me I’m worrying over nothing. 🤦
I was venting about all this today to a friend—she’s only at 7 weeks and has her scan tomorrow. Last time they checked, they could only see the yolk sac, and she’s already spiraling, terrified that tomorrow they won't see anything else, that everything just vanished, and there's no baby... 😢
The bottom line? We’ve both completely lost our minds. 😢

My back is absolutely killing me right now; the pain is just relentless, and I can’t seem to find a single comfortable position to sit or lie in. On top of that, my hip is starting to ache too,

I honestly just want this baby out already. Carrying them around is becoming such a struggle these days.

It drives me absolutely insane when people tell me not to worry for no reason... what am I supposed to be, her freaking therapist?😠

Tell your friend that just last week I only had a tiny yellow sac, and today it’s a pathetic 4 mm speck that’s barely pulsing... and I’m just as pregnant as she is, only seven weeks along😉 I'm crossing my fingers for her😍

To make matters worse, I’ve had fresh bleeding, which is incredibly frustrating.😠 And don't even get me started on these progesterone pills I'm popping like candy; now I have to deal with them clogging up everything down in the basement laundry room.😠

It isn’t that I’m trying to shout or make a scene... it’s more that I have this nagging desire to ensure someone actually takes this to heart. I’m speaking from a professional background here, and believe me when I say this is for your own good. It specifically concerns expectant mothers; I just happened to stumble upon this forum and couldn't help but notice certain patterns... there's quite a lot of them, actually. If you aren't aware of these things, you can't be blamed, but in this day and age, there are so many ways to truly educate yourself if you just look.
No hard feelings intended, but if you found my comments offensive, it’s likely because of a lack of information or perhaps you simply disagree with what’s been stated—but we are talking about scientific facts here...

Honestly, this kind of mindless nonsense is starting to get under my skin.
If we’re going by those ridiculous standards, these people should probably just live under a literal glass dome, eating nothing but organic, non-GMO, farm-to-table produce grown in some pristine backyard.

It’s almost as if they think our mothers or grandmothers were somehow superhumanly careful about every single ingredient, as if we all miraculously turned out perfectly healthy despite everything.

Look, I’m truly sorry if I’ve rubbed anyone the wrong way; my intention was never to lecture you all or turn this thread into some endless debate that ruins anyone's night... though, if even one person actually grasped the point I was trying to make, then I suppose it wasn't all for nothing. It’s just a frustrating reality that many expectant mothers seem either unaware of or perhaps simply unwilling to acknowledge... I can't say for sure why. Everyone is entitled to follow their own instincts and do what they feel is best, but I didn't invent these facts, so why is there such intense pushback against information that is objectively true and ultimately meant for your own benefit?

@Ryan Nguyen4 you just come flying in here like a parachute without a cord, image no "good evening," no "hello," just immediate yelling at everyone. What's the actual issue?
There is already a specific thread dedicated to alcohol consumption during pregnancy; if you had an opinion you were dying to share, you could have posted it there. 🤷Why did you feel the need to latch onto this particular topic instead? 🤣
