Windows Media Maker

Hey,
I’ve been messing around with this little software lately (we’re both having a laugh), and I have to admit, it’s pretty straightforward to use.
But there's a massive issue: the thing is incredibly unstable. It freezes constantly, forcing me to kill the process and restart it over and over again.
Is anyone else dealing with this mess? Any way to actually fix it?

Back when I used it (a long time ago), I ran into those same issues. I eventually dealt with them by just uninstalling Windows Media Maker 😁

Adobe Premiere Elements.. it's decent, and I guess it's pretty simple.

Adobe Premiere Pro is fantastic, and honestly, so is Adobe Premiere Elements
I haven't personally messed around with Adobe Premiere Elements yet, so I can't say for sure, but I think I'll download it sometime in the next few days. 😁

I guess Adobe and Sony are good enough (I use Premiere and After Effects myself), but they’re complicated. He was looking for something more like Windows Media Maker, so I suggested Adobe Premiere Elements since it doesn't get any easier than that.

I've put together a few videos using Windows Media Maker, and I've never run into any issues. It gets the job done for me.

Nah, I just didn't have any reason to make more. And when I do get back into it, I'll be using WMM. Believe it or not, some people actually find certain software works just fine for them.

It’s always the exact same pattern—as soon as anyone mentions Windows Movie Maker or those other straightforward alternatives, people immediately start pivoting toward heavyweights like Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas.

I really wish more folks could just give iMovie a fair shake (it’s free, after all) since I use it on my Mac. It truly is quite a marvel how effortless video editing can be while still offering such solid features.

Camtasia. Honestly, my go-to when I want things simple. The interface feels familiar, and it actually works—unlike that WMM garbage (my bad).
Comparing this to stuff from Adobe, Sony, or whatever else is just a waste of time.

Camtasia is a completely different beast compared to Windows Movie Maker.

The program works fine for me. It gets a bit finicky with segment timing sometimes, but it’s straightforward and it gets the job done. I'll definitely look into trying some other options down the road.

Camtasia isn't even in the same league as Windows Movie Maker.

Obviously they aren't similar—different devs, different worlds. Let's skip the software wars for a second.

I don't get how you're seeing any connection between Camstasia and WMM.

Go ahead, try comparing them—I'd love to hear what you come up with.
Camtasia is top-tier compared to WMM, which is basically garbage.
If someone mentioned Adobe Premiere or something like that, man, forget it.
Someone please name something closer to or better than C.Studio.
I'm talking about what I actually use, not some stuff I saw while browsing.

They feel worlds apart to me—it's almost like comparing a high-end professional workstation to a basic handheld calculator. The feature sets between Camtasia and Windows Movie Maker aren't even in the same universe, so I honestly can't wrap my head around how you even came up with the idea to put them in the same conversation!!
