Wireless mouse through concrete?

Hey there!

A buddy of mine is asking for a solid wireless mouse recommendation, specifically one with insane range. Here’s the catch: his PC is on the ground floor, but he wants to use the mouse from the basement. We're talking through concrete and about 30 feet of distance. He says his current setup actually works down there, but he needs just another 10 feet of reach to hit the spot where he wants to sit.

I don't know the first thing about mice, so does anyone have any suggestions?

I think he’s just incredibly lucky that it even works at all. These things are short-range gadgets; they aren't built for long distances. There’s zero guarantee any random guy you pick up is going to have success with this—it's trial and error. He could try using a USB extension cable to get the transmitter closer, though. And he needs to realize that pushing the range will absolutely murder his battery life. He'll be stuck charging it or swapping batteries constantly.

Just Google 'long range Bluetooth mouse.' You could probably walk into the next room at a Target and test the range right there. Honestly, I’m just baffled that his signal is actually penetrating through walls like that; personally, my Bluetooth tends to cut out the second I step behind a door.

Thanks for the input. Generally speaking, do Bluetooth or Wi-Fi mice actually have better range?

WiFi, obviously, but let’s not forget Bluetooth is strictly short-range communication.
