So, whenever I’m trying to crash and I’m like, super exhausted—every single time—my head just twitches or jerks. It’s totally involuntary, I can't even help it. This hasn't happened before, it just started recently... and only when I'm lying down. Does anyone actually know why this happens? 🤷

Well.....😕
I don't know... maybe someone with more actual expertise can weigh in here... back when I was grinding through neurology, we were taught to classify these things as hyperkinesia... whereas tics are those quick, involuntary, purposeless muscle spasms that just keep repeating in the same spot on the body over and over again.

yeah, even that's just a tiny bit—it’s basically the same thing happening to me while I’m lying there, in the exact same spot, until I finally pass out. and honestly? it never used to be like this before

Myoclonic jerks might be possible
If this only happens right before you drift off, especially if you're exhausted, it’s likely nothing to worry about. However, if it becomes a regular occurrence, you should definitely get a mineral panel done and check in with a neurologist for an EMG; I doubt they'll need to order neuroimaging...

My leg gets these weird little twitches right before I drift off and honestly—does anyone else feel like as soon as that twitch happens, they just... pass out immediately??????

ps.—it doesn't happen every single night, but it happens enough to be annoying
I actually had an EEG done about three years ago when I was dealing with some other health stuff, and everything came back totally normal

That’s just standard practice...
