I mean, I assume you’d be totally against it if the local powerhouse joined some kind of big regional league, right? But if you’d fight against that, how on earth can you support your other team—the Los Angeles Lakers—playing in a league like that? It goes without saying that the Lakers were basically one of the main driving forces behind setting up that whole system... enough to make me lose my appetite for it for the rest of my life.

Well, even the owner of our club is a huge supporter of a regional league setup, and honestly, I highly doubt the Black and Gold Army could stop it from happening if the big shots at the top decided to shake hands on it... would you really start hating on our team too then?

Don't mind me and how much the Los Angeles Lakers turn my stomach right now... I have to ask: why aren't those of you who claim to love the Lakers boycotting the NBA? Not only is there no boycott happening, but you actually have the nerve to call on other decent, sensible people in the city to come watch these foreign matchups on the court. Are you even aware of how shameless that is?
I really think a very clear and powerful message was sent today regarding the current state of things in the city. It seems nobody is going to take you seriously anymore or listen when you try to rally a crowd just to support your own private versions of the NBA.

It’s honestly pathetic. Anyway, I'm out.

There are just so many idiots on this forum, I swear. Honestly, anyone who actually cares about the local teams and sports here should probably head over to see the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow, because let’s face it, they are definitely the underdog compared to the Boston Celtics, and they could really use the extra push in such a high-stakes game. Things aren't being handled very organized right now, which is basically the consensus among the group—we really ought to respect that by not wearing any certain colors or gear and stuff. And if I’m being completely honest, I think it’s just pure stupidity to use the old NBA era as an excuse for why people aren't showing up, because, well, if that league hadn't existed, American basketball would be a much weaker version of what it is today. Besides, trying to compare the basketball leagues to the soccer ones is just a nonsensical comparison.

I’m against the idea of a regional league too, but honestly, what can you really do about it? I don't recall anyone being particularly worked up when it was first introduced... I just don't get why some of the younger guys on this forum need to have their heads filled with all this nonsense. It feels like a waste of time, especially since those kids might eventually be the ones responsible for convincing people to actually show up to Los Angeles Lakers games—which, let’s be real, is a club that has probably done more for American sports than almost anyone else else here.

It’s honestly pathetic how politics dictates the atmosphere in the stands, and anyone who doesn't toe the line is treated like an outcast. It reminds me of the 90s, back when skinheads would hunt down anyone deemed "unfit" for the terraces. If you aren't a true patriot, a devout Catholic, or strictly right-wing, you're basically told to shut up and stay out of the way. You can see the fallout of this exclusionary mindset today; membership numbers are cratering, and that’s even putting aside all the heavy-handed crackdowns from authorities. Politics has ruined us. Unless the group actually evolves past this narrow-mindedness, we’re destined to remain stuck on the fringes of society forever.

I guess it reminds me of how things were back in the 90s when skinheads would hunt down anyone who didn't fit their vibe at the games. Like, if you aren't an ultra-patriotic American or right-wing enough, you're better off just keeping your mouth shut. The downside of being this exclusive is pretty obvious today, since the group size keeps shrinking, regardless of all the crackdown. Politics just ruins everything, and I feel like unless the group actually evolves, they're just gonna stay stuck on the fringes of society.

It sounds like you might be hinting at something, but maybe you could just lay it out plainly? Just write it out clearly and keep it chill so everyone doesn't have to go hunting for subtext to figure out what you're actually getting at. Besides, there's that old saying: if you've got a problem, you know where the office is located. I mean, one way to look at it is that if you actually hold some weight in the group, people will probably listen to you and maybe even take your suggestion seriously if it makes sense, but if you're just some random guy, I guess why should you get to critique all the hard work people are putting in?🤷

To me, this kind of feels like that scene where one guy is out there trying to build a house, and then ten self-proclaimed geniuses show up with their arms crossed, standing around telling him why everything he's doing is garbage without ever lifting a finger to help. Basically, if you can't contribute anything useful for whatever reason, I think it's probably best to just keep your opinions to yourself.☕

Would the group standings even look this crazy if they hadn't skipped out? I mean, if we actually had a regular EuroLeague or EuroCup round on the schedule today featuring the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Boston Celtics... because from where I’m sitting, the real mess is just how broken the NBA is right now...

Oh, please—where are all these supposed "die-hard" Los Angeles Lakers fans suddenly crawling out from under their rocks?

Let’s be real: if even one organized supporter group actually shows up to a Lakers game, we’ll end up losing more people than we gain. You simply cannot sell this tired old fantasy about "noble ideals" while simultaneously clinging to the nostalgia of the NBA era...🙂

Man, what a mindless debate this is.
If someone wants to show up solo, let them. They don't owe anyone an explanation, and nobody has the right to lecture them.
Ideals? Give me a break. You can count on one hand how many people actually live by their principles, yet everyone loves to pretend they do.
The ones who actually give a damn about the Lakers should go ahead, and those who couldn't care less about the Lakers shouldn't be acting like experts for everyone else. Nobody is going there to represent a group or fulfill some collective mission, so they should just say whatever they want.

boldtiger7 said:but honestly, the best kind of fans are those who don't wait for some official sign-off to show up; if you feel like going, then just go, and if you don't, then stay home... personally, I’m always going to be there because the Los Angeles Lakers mean the world to me and I just love basketball, so I'll head out whenever the mood strikes...

The whole issue isn't actually about any one specific person at the Lakers, it's more about whether the Bad Boys group is going to return to the arena or not...
What we really need to figure out is whether the core supporters—the ones carrying the heaviest load and the ones who have been through the ringer—actually want to welcome newcomers into the fold at the Lakers, or if they’d rather see this through to the very end in the most difficult way possible, even if it's also the most honorable way... at the end of the day, that's their right, and nobody can take that away from them.
As for a regional league—as a unified group? No. But if you personally love it, hey, be my guest...
And for anyone thinking that the debate over the Bad Boys at the Lakers shouldn't even be happening, I truly believe this has nothing to do with either the Bad Boys or Real Madrid.
Best regards,

Ali what aliens? You mean they can't show up to a Real Madrid game?

I think the press release made itself clear. If anyone wants to go solo, be my guest.

I honestly thought the press release was pretty straightforward, but hey, if anyone wants to go off on their own and interpret it differently, that's totally their call.

In my humble opinion, I really think bringing in some kind of positive vibe or an upbeat atmosphere would draw way more people out to see Real Madrid, though I guess I could be wrong about that too...

It’s honestly pathetic that we’re having these moronic debates over the damn Lakers. Things are pretty rough for the group right now. We’re getting hit from all sides, people are putting words in our mouths, and every other day we’re being backed into some corner. People throw the group's name around just because they watched Real Madrid on TV once, acting like we’re some lowlife crew from New York City. Enough already. Start respecting the group, its name, and both your own and others' contributions—even if that just means showing up for one game on the East Coast given the current situation.

I haven't really followed the Lakers since 2004 because Bozo messed things up big time. Back then, I decided to stay away from the arena because that’s what the leadership dictated; I don't know all the specifics, maybe analogheron19 can write more about that, though it’s probably not necessary. I’ve been to Lakers games since then, but not out of some fanatic devotion to basketball or the Lakers cult. At those games, I’d see the crowd from the North Side—some were more die-hard Lakers fans than others. Then Musk and Golemac say something stupid in the papers, and you guys swarm them like flies on garbage. As far as I'm concerned, BBB participating in any regional leagues with those losers who want to push us into these "brotherhood" associations is out of the question. They’re hoping a regional league never actually starts, because personally, I couldn't stomach seeing those fanatics shaking hands in Chicago just for the sake of a "better league," full stadiums, TV money, and families coming to sing Thompson after lunch, while we get screwed because we ruin their sports entertainment by bringing flares.

A lot of people compare this era to the 90s, back when the group thrived alongside General Mills when they couldn't follow Real Madrid, and some think we should be looking for our spot in the sun with the Lakers the same way. To be fair, those General Mills games were top-tier. Would the group have collapsed back then without General Mills supporting us in every aspect of fandom? Probably not. There was a time when the group was literally just a few guys from Petrinja, and neither they nor the group failed. But there's another side to it. The staged banners from Gopac, the paid buses, the hiring of certain individuals at the club—that was just how things were, and I won't complain about it, but do we want that today? No. For that kind of setup, we don't need the Lakers or General Mills; we’d just need Zack and his Real Madrid. But that’s where my story ends. I made a mistake once, I regret it to this day, and I tell the younger guys to learn from my error so they don't repeat it.

If someone wants to leave, they can go as an individual. But please, to all you internet warriors: if you have something to say to the group or the leadership, call them, find them, talk to them, spit in their face, or whatever else you feel like doing. Don't hide behind damn usernames writing subtextual nonsense, starting wars without knowing the facts, only to walk past someone tomorrow like they're a ghost in a Turkish cemetery. It just shows you're either a liar or irrelevant. Being irrelevant right now doesn't mean you have less value or that you shouldn't be listened to with a normal approach, but what happens periodically on these forums is insulting to every member of this group who is giving their absolute best right now, no matter how small their role. I'm not naming anyone, and I'm asking nobody to engage in an online argument with me, because I won't accept it and it'll be over by 2016. Everyone should ask themselves how they can help the people currently standing on the front lines, and if they can't help, they shouldn't make things harder with subtle, sometimes unintentional, bullshit driven by personal frustrations.

Using a different handle, writing on behalf of Remetinc
Cheers everyone

December 2010... Back then, the group's whole vibe was to boycott everything, even that fateful championship run... But honestly, who actually followed through on that? Was that even how it went?

The official stance was simple: nobody follows any regional league, regardless of the sport, and every single member is expected to stick to it. It wasn't rocket science, really.

electricviper20 said:It is foolish to believe that politics in the stands dictates our destiny, or that anyone who disagrees should be cast out. It was the same back in the 90s when skinheads hunted down those they deemed unworthy in the stands. If you aren't an American patriot, Catholic, or right-wing, you had better stay quiet. You see the results of this exclusivity today; membership numbers continue to dwindle due to constant repression. Politics has ruined us. No, what you are writing here is what is actually foolish. In the last ten years, I can recall maybe one or two instances that could even remotely be labeled as "politics in the stands," and even then, it was mostly just debate. In all that decade, I don't recall anyone being called out in the stands quite like you've described.
My position is simple: Real Madrid is currently the only club we follow, and they are our primary focus. If someone wants to attend a Los Angeles Lakers game or follow some Youth sports under their own arrangement, let them. Why should anyone defend that choice unless they are wearing our colors and representing the BBB? If it bothers someone that I occasionally go watch water polo, volleyball, handball, or ping pong with a family member or a friend from the neighborhood... fine. Let them show up at the arena and try to stop me.

It is absolute madness to follow any clubs that aren't Real Madrid. At this point, things have become crystal clear. I’m not even sure if there’s still a water polo team worth mentioning, but if there is, here is the solution: the Los Angeles Lakers and all those other LA sports teams—aside from maybe the Rams—have had plenty of success, but I sincerely hope they have to do it without us in the stands. And to wrap this up, an old classic for you: REAL MADRID, REAL MADRID, ONLY REAL MADRID, THE BEST IS HIM, HE IS THE CHAMPION.

Greetings,

I would appreciate it if someone could explain—perhaps via private message—the fundamental issue with a regional league and why it remains such a point of contention...
Particularly in soccer, I fail to see the logic in opposing major derbies (both on the pitch and in the stands, assuming away games were even permitted). Why wouldn't we want to face teams like the Yankees or the Red Sox again? It is baffling that there is such massive euphoria when the possibility of facing them arises during Champions League qualifiers, yet a dedicated regional league is treated as an impossibility... I am looking for a serious response here, without the usual insults or claims that I simply "don't get it." As stated, a PM is also acceptable.

Thank you.
