Shoes... yeah. Their UK 8 is basically an American 10. Good luck hunting down a 11. 😢 Unless you're somewhere between a 10 and an 11, because some of their styles feel a little roomy for me—not enough to drop down to a 9, though.

To be honest, I'm not huge on their footwear either—I usually only grab things on sale when the original price wasn't too crazy to begin with (like, under $83 $50). I had two pairs where the soles literally peeled off within a week. Total junk. But, I do have some sneakers from them that have actually held up pretty well.

So, most of what I get from ASOS isn't even "ASOS" branded. Though, if you check the other threads, people seem to really like their boots—but those are in a higher price bracket, so maybe quality just scales with the price tag. 🤷

Anyway, I'm pretty picky about shoes, so I might not be the best judge here. 😳

Huh, thanks.

Lately, it's been hard to fit into anything that's a 10, so whenever I order online, I aim for an 11—maybe even wide if it's for work or something. Dorothy Perkins has some cute stuff in a 9 (which is like a 10), but right now I'm eyeing some patent leather pieces that won't really work with this dress. 😢 I'll wait a bit longer; looks like the fall collection is just arriving. And yeah, site reviews are total lifesavers.

Shipping is a little pricey—about $13—but they have this killer feature where you just plug in your measurements and it tells you exactly which size to grab. 😍 I tested it out for non-stretch dresses, since that’s always my biggest headache—and honestly, it gives a great breakdown of how the size will actually feel (like whether it'll be a close fit, a suggested fit, or a loose fit). I wish more shops had this. 😍 Plus, it even gives you a visual of how it might look on your frame. 😲

They go up to a US 36.

So, what’s the word on this site? What are people actually thinking about it:

They're lovely.😉

Are their size charts actually accurate when the clothes arrive, based on those centimeter measurements on the site? Or do they run large? I've never ordered anything online before, so I'm asking.

🙂

It really depends. I always look for reviews to see if they are "true to size," small, or large before I buy. For example, at H&M, I wear a 12 or 14, but sometimes I can't even button a 14, so it totally depends on the cut and the fabric. I'll let you know when they arrive. 🙂

Also, Target has cotton undershirts on sale—Jolinesse, $10.00. Super comfy, 95% cotton. I grabbed a Medium; it says 12/14 but it's actually much bigger, more like a 14/16.

We should just start our own forum marketplace for stuff that ends up being too small or too big after we order. 😁

Man, I’ve got this whole pile of stuff just hanging there on the rack—and some shoes too—that I haven't even touched. Mostly just things where I totally botched the sizing...
I have this one Marina Rinaldi dress that cost me like a grand, and I think I’ve worn it maybe, what, three times? Max. How do you even put a price tag on stuff like that? Since it actually looks good on me, I guess it's better than letting it rot in the closet... Oh, and I also messed up my shoe size with a couple of pairs from Next. Either their sizing runs tiny or my feet have just decided to expand on me lately. 🤷

Anyway, back to the point 😁 I treated myself to a little blazer and some shoes from River Island 🙂
Then I was browsing Castaluna and found some really solid "basics" in the sale section, though I noticed most of it is La Redoute.
There's also plenty of good basic stuff over here (most of it is pretty old-school/dad-core, but you can definitely find gems if you look):

Thanks a lot. I ordered denim jeans and some fabric trousers in about 20 different sizes, totaling $83, excluding shipping. Now I just have to wait the 8 working days to see if I actually made the right call. 🤷

So, if I'm grabbing some overalls from them, what size am I looking at if I usually rock a 46-48?

Those pants are great, Charles Gomez4. 😍

Regarding those Dorothy Perkins sizes—well, usually a UK 18 is an American 14/16. I have a pair of their skinny jeans in an 18 and they fit okay, but I’m typically a 14 or 16, and these were cut *really* skinny with a super low rise 🤷. My main gripe is that everything is just so short—not exactly the best move for tall girls, especially when looking for winter gear. Everything feels short to me—sleeves, legs, even jacket hems that should hit my hips end up sitting just below my waist; I'm about 5'11".

I’ve got some light transitional jackets in a UK 18 and there's still plenty of room in the bust 😲. Probably because the average American woman carries a bit more curves in the chest area than you'd expect, so the bust isn't totally flat. 😂

Honestly, those customer reviews on the website are the most helpful thing when you're actually placing an order.

Just shop them like you would H&M, though DP tends to run a bit larger and shorter—unless the comments say otherwise.

Generally speaking, American brands tend to have a bit more generous sizing. For instance, the La Redoute jackets I own are a US 14 and fit perfectly—they aren't even tight in the chest anymore (yay! I actually lost about an inch since my last measurement 😳) and those feel like true-to-size numbers. I'd say I'm a solid US 14 (as mentioned before). Dorothy Perkins in a UK 18 is way more comfortable for me than stuff from La Redoute, and don't even get me started on ASOS—from now on, I'm ordering my tops there in a UK 14. 🙄

So, here is the answer to that:

ASOS is definitely an 18—maybe even a 16 if you're closer to a 14 and it's not a super skinny fit. For Dorothy Perkins, go with an 18 or a 20, depending on the cut (and what people are saying in the reviews).

I’ve been lurking in this thread for a while now, and I have to say, it’s actually been pretty helpful for finding new online shops.🙂 Well, I finally decided to just jump in and actually participate properly...
My weight tends to fluctuate quite a bit, so my closet is basically a mix of everything from a US size 6 to a 16. (I still haven't figured out how to make the weight stay off once it's gone, I guess.🙂) Right now, I’m in one of my heavier phases—maybe a 14 or 16 up top, and a 16 or 18 on the bottom.🙂
Anyway, back to the point... about two weeks ago when Dorothy Perkins had free shipping, I picked up these pants:http://www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpu...5d&bi=21&ps=20 I ordered a size 20. The fabric and look are great, and since I'm about 5'10", the length is perfect. Though, if I had tried them on first, I probably would've gone a size down. They're loose in the waist, but they fit my hips—which is my widest part—just right, so I'm actually happy because I can just wear a belt and call it a day. Honestly, when I put my measurements into their size guide, it told me I was a 22, but I figured the guide was just wrong, and I was right.😉
I ended up ordering again yesterday since they have free shipping again.🙂
http://www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp...atalogId=33053
I went with the 20 again since the 18 was out of stock, and I grabbed an L because I was worried the R might be too short. I guess we'll see how this goes.🙂

Just letting you guys know that my top—it’s like one of those zip-up sweatshirts from SD—came in a size 20, which actually fits me perfectly 😁.
Nimbleheron47, thanks for the tip 😉.
If I’d gone with the 22, it would’ve been way too baggy.
Usually, when looking at European sizing for tops, I’m a 52.
My closet is basically overflowing with Old Navy stuff, so I just use their sizing as my main benchmark to stay sane 😁.

Honestly, man, these sizing charts? Forget about it. Back in the day, like when our moms were young, there used to be this thing called a "standardization book." You could actually measure a nation by it! They had average numbers that worked for everyone. If someone said you were a 44, then you were a 44. Period. But now? You can try everything under the sun and still have no clue if you're actually going to fit. 😁.

Oh, and uh... my leggings arrived too (totally random tangent, I know), but I totally messed up on those. It’s wild how inconsistent everything is. I thought I was being smart by picking a size halfway between the ones from Next that were too small, but these turned out to be huge... 🤷.
Seriously, I should probably just open an Etsy shop or something and document all this madness with photos 🙂.

Man, I am so glad this thread actually took off! 🙂

Just wanted to mention this one more time—I'm noticing a lot of you guys are around a size 14 or 16. Just a heads-up: the ASOS Curve line in an 18 fits way differently than the standard sizing. The cuts are much roomier, and they don't taper at the waist nearly as much.

I didn't actually order it—just read enough blogs that I decided to clone this style instead. Honestly, anything less than unformatted is the last thing I need right now.

So, who’s hitting that 46-48 range? 18 is pretty standard for the regular line—nothing crazy there. But if we're looking at who's closer to 50... I'd say the Asos 18-20 from the Curve line is getting there.

Oh, by the way—I totally forgot to mention that DP summer dress from that last free shipping deal. It was listed as number 20 for some ridiculous price—like, maybe six or seven bucks—so I figured, why not? Let's see what happens. The dress itself is actually pretty cute, and the length is decent—not too short, just hits right around the knee for me, which is perfect—but... it’s way too loose in the chest area. 😲 🤣It’s got plenty of length—which is great—but I really wish it were a bit slimmer through the body instead of being so flared out. I knew it would be wide, but it’s that maternity style that sits right under the bust. I thought it’d be perfect for just lounging around the beach or walking along the coast, but... yeah. I’ll probably have to take it in a bit and figure out a way to tie it under the ribs. Not looking to sell it or anything, though—the length is actually lovely. 😬 😍

So—for a 47-inch bust, a UK 20 at Debenhams is actually running way too big.

No problem at all.
Lee Cooper's cuts are just a bit too narrow in the chest for me—definitely going to steer clear of them. If anyone’s planning on placing an order, let me know though—they actually have some really nice stuff. 😍.

Based on their own sizing chart for a 47-inch bust, you'd actually need a UK 22. 😉

Or maybe just "manageably" big. 🙂

(My band size is UK 12... don't ask—found out on Wikipedia while looking up bra measurements 😬, so maybe that’s part of it. Though, with these kinds of maternity dresses, honestly, bust size is pretty much the only measurement that matters. 🤷.)

Honestly, I’m just stoked this thread finally popped off 😍.
It would be even better if everyone actually posted pics of their hauls... or hey, doesn't even have to be new stuff, maybe just a quick snap of an outfit before you head out for the night 🙂.
