Sorry to barge in out of nowhere, but I just had to ask...
Do you guys actually double-check what goes into these cakes? Like, if there’s someone with an allergy in the room, do you give them a heads-up about the ingredients before they dig in?
😬

I haven't really given it much thought, honestly—all I know is that there won't be any walnut cakes on any floor, because I can't stand them. In my opinion, sticking with fruit-based cakes is probably the happiest way to go!

I guess there’s no such thing as a perfect solution, unfortunately. There’s always at least one person who won't be happy. My partner just scowls whenever fruit cakes are served. As for me, I'll eat pretty much anything sweet—it's all good in my book (though, I suppose, it shows, if you look closely enough). 😬

To be honest, I haven't given much thought to allergies. I once hosted a guest with a gluten intolerance, and naturally, he couldn't touch any of our traditional baked goods. I simply adjusted his menu slightly—avoiding breaded items, pasta, or croquettes, and swapping noodle soup for a vegetable broth instead. I've also had guests with diabetes, but I didn't bother placing any special orders for them.

Yeah, okay, I get it, diabetics have their own set of issues...
but what I was actually getting at were more like food allergies....
you know, stuff like almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, and things like that.😳

I caught on, though I certainly went on a bit of a tangent. No, allergies didn't cross my mind—not even for a second. And I already knew they were walnuts because I can't stand the taste.

A friend of mine deals with diabetes, so she’s getting her slice of cake at my wedding, no exceptions. I'll make sure one layer is sugar-free 😍

We had two vegetarians attending our event, and we simply provided them with their own dedicated menu. Regarding guests with allergies, if you happen to know they'll be there, offering a thoughtful alternative is a nice touch, though it’s difficult to account for everyone if you aren't aware of their specific needs. Most people will just take care of themselves by asking the server if any peanuts or tree nuts were used in the preparation.

Lawrence Wilson77, I am genuinely at a loss for where to shop. Have you checked everything out yet? I’m going to go take a look...

I hear you, Benjamin Edwards9... they're nowhere to be found... I was just hoping someone online might have stumbled upon one... but clearly not... well, what can you do? It doesn't matter...
I know for a fact there aren't any here in Chicago... I've already checked everywhere...
Thanks for the help...

I have a walnut allergy. When I was at a wedding out in the Midwest, I asked what kind of desserts were nut-free (for the two days leading up to it, I had been bugging my husband to try things for me so he could give me half of whatever didn't have walnuts in it 🤣), and people looked at me like I was practically insane 😬 Eventually, they found a few options for me, but even then, they seemed totally shocked, as if they’d never heard of someone having an allergy like that before. 🤣 🤣

Lawrence Wilson77, you might want to give eBay a quick search; I have a feeling you'll find exactly what you're looking for there. Just be sure to look under the cake toppers category!

I’m going to say this and take the heat if I have to—laugh all you want—but wouldn't it be possible to mold a little figure out of that fondant?

I honestly had a feeling that a few things on this list might be right up your alley! If you do end up ordering anything at all, please, please do send over a photo—I’m just dying to see what you pick out! 😘

Ladies, has anyone around here picked up any of those cookies from Bond in Columbus lately?

I’m planning on heading down there next week to hammer out an agreement, so I’m looking for some fresh, firsthand accounts from anyone who's dealt with them lately.
I’m going to need about 150 pounds of cake just to make sure I don't overdo it...

😘

Could someone actually make something out of that kind of material?? Hmm.. interesting idea.. does anyone know where specifically one could find it?😘

It absolutely could be done... honestly, that high-end confectionery shop over on Jefferson always has a window display packed with these incredible little figurines made from marzipan.😍
