Linda Adams8 said:I had my wedding at the Globe. They provide a cake for 120 guests, which comes from Vincent's (and let me tell you, their stuff is delicious). The process is simple: you go down to Vincent's, pick out the specific cake shape you want, jot down the item code, and then just give that number to the coordinator at the Globe who handles all the arrangements.
If you want something specific or a larger cake, they offered to cover the cost of $333, and we just paid the difference... it ends up being cheaper for them than if you were to order it separately on your own.👍

Thanks so much 😍

I wonder if anyone might happen to have any information on where one could actually track down some decent fondant in Washington, D.C.?

I don't really get what you mean by self-promotion? I'm just sharing my own experience, I guess. ☕

I can’t quite remember the exact name of that little bakery over in Arlington—it was something like M&M—but I’ve actually ordered a cake from them twice now, and honestly, it’s been a bit of a weird experience. The first time around, I was expecting one of those classic fruit cakes, but instead, they sent me a parfait, and then the second time, I specifically asked for chocolate, yet somehow ended up with another parfait again

Does anyone happen to know where I can find someone who makes custom marzipan cake toppers for weddings?

My partner and I really want the little bride and groom figures on top of our cake to look exactly how we pictured them. If you know of any local artists or bakeries that handle custom orders like this, it would be a huge help if you could point me in the right direction...

Check out the thread about wedding cakes and desserts (I can't remember the exact title off the top of my head).
Alternatively, just send a private message to night_train; she knows a great local bakery that handles those kinds of orders.

A friend’s mother made the cookies for us—they were absolutely wonderful. It wasn't just a matter of bias, either; she puts the same level of care into every batch she bakes for everyone. She prepares her creams using a traditional bain-marie method—very meticulous, really—so you can actually taste the effort. Unlike those mass-produced desserts you often find at weddings where ten different treats all taste identical, hers are unique. So, if anyone is interested, please reach out.

There's this sweet little shop over in Naperville that has their own website 🙂

I figured I’d jump into this thread since everything was actually a bit easier to manage before I got married. For my big day, I ended up ordering all the sweets from a lovely lady over in Springfield. She charges $22 per pound, and she handles everything—arranging them on trays or packing them into boxes—and then her husband even delivers them right to the restaurant for us. Honestly, the cookies are incredible; we’re going to have about 20 different varieties. As for the cake, I went with something from Vincennes... a square chocolate one. Yum!

I was going to grab some pastries at Emma’s, but I changed my mind after seeing how much they hiked up the price per pound on $30!😠 It's getting a bit ridiculous...
. . .so if anyone knows of a decent bakery around here, let me know!

Sarah Clark24;11847034 said:Oh, one more thing... we actually ordered our desserts from this wonderful lady over in Springfield. She runs a small home bakery, and honestly, her stuff is top-tier. We had about thirty different kinds! Her husband personally delivered everything to the restaurant and then brought the rest straight to our house already arranged on platters. They were absolutely stunning to look at and tasted even better. If anyone is interested in her contact info, I’m happy to pass it along—just keep in mind she can only handle about two weddings a month, otherwise she simply wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand. For what it's worth, the whole lot ended up costing us roughly $10 per pound, which included the delivery and all the packaging!

Mom brought over two beautifully prepared trays to my place, and then she's heading straight to the restaurant with another sixteen... honestly, it’s pretty incredible!
