frozenseal37 said:I was honestly thinking about picking up a cake from Vincennes, but I’m kind of stressing out that it might be way too greasy—I feel like every single wedding cake I’ve ever had lately has been super heavy and oily... Does anyone have a solid recommendation for somewhere else?

Well, I actually went down to that Small town, USA, spot to do some digging, and I have to say, they really caught me off guard—they are true professionals. I sampled two different varieties (having tried their other offerings quite some time ago), and I can tell you with absolute certainty that those walnut-heavy ones or anything with that sort of dense, rich profile... well, they're frankly unpalatable. But the parfait? Simply exquisite. If I had to pick favorites from their menu, I'd lean toward the Sachertorte, the Black Forest, or the Dobos. _And, if I may offer one small, practical tip—do opt for a square-shaped cake if you can; if you go with a three-layer square, you can actually fit six different flavors inside, whereas a three-layer round cake limits you to just three!

I have to give a shout-out to Emma’s cookies from Malešnica because they are seriously delicious. I didn't handle the cake order myself, though, so I can't speak for that part.
I heard some of my friends ended up with a cake that was a bit too small for the group, which was a bummer, but hey... you really have to nail down those details ahead of time. Even Anne wasn't thrilled with her cake, so maybe it's worth being extra firm with them during planning. At least they didn't charge her for it, so that's a win. 👍
The cookies were honestly amazing and I was super happy with them...

Parfait is the absolute best... when you're eating classic desserts (the dry, super sweet kind), something light and airy like this is exactly what you need. 🙂

A quick question for our Midwest girls...

I was just out in Indianapolis this past weekend for a wedding, and I am still thinking about those desserts. I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews about Midwestern baking my whole life, but this was actually my first time tasting the real deal...🙏

So now I'm wondering: what are the odds of me ordering my wedding treats from someone out in the Midwest? Would it even make sense financially to have them shipped or brought in? And more importantly, does anyone have a specific baker they’d recommend?

Thanks...😘

Hey, Dana Wright4. What exactly made them different from your usual cookies? Honestly, you might want to look into ordering from a local bakery nearby—it’s much more convenient, and maybe someone could even swing by to pick them up. I’ve lost all faith in delivery services lately, especially when we're talking about food. Ideally, if you had someone visiting the day before, they could just bring the treats along, though I do worry about how they’d hold up after a few hours in the car. Do you think any of the local pastry shops offer their own delivery service?
Sorry for the rambling post,

I just had to share this wedding cake from my friends' big day a few weeks back. Honestly, I can't stop thinking about it—it was absolutely stunning...

Well, they taste better because they finally don't feel artificial in your mouth...
That's how all the stuff here in NYC is...

Which is why I was wondering what the chances were of ordering something from the Midwest...

I'm actually pretty picky about sweets since I bake high-quality stuff myself, though only for special occasions (for example, I make about 15 different types of mini cookies for 😛 )

Do you happen to know where they picked this up? I'm dying to know what the flavor is on the inside...

My Godfather's wife actually surprised us by gifting a cake, though she was being incredibly mysterious about where on earth she picked it up or how much she ended up shelling out for it—which, quite frankly, was exactly what I wanted to know! She gave me a call just three days before the wedding to reassure me that the bride shouldn't stress about the dessert at all, promising she’d handle everything because she knew precisely what kind of cake the bride was dreaming of. Now, she's originally from Washington, D.C., but since the wedding took place near Indianapolis, I can't help but wonder: if she did indeed grab it in D.C., how on earth did she manage to transport it all the way to Indianapolis without a single scratch? Of course, there's also the possibility she found it locally in Indy, perhaps even over at Vigus, but that is purely my own speculation.
To be perfectly honest, I haven't the slightest clue what the filling was—I didn't even get a chance to taste it! I spent all my energy just snapping photos of the exterior, as the frosting looked absolutely divine and had this incredible shimmer that you can clearly see in the picture...

Looks great to me.
Personally, I'm not a fan of all those fresh flowers and satin ribbons people seem to insist on putting on cakes—maybe I'm just weird. 😁
I feel like everything on a cake should actually be edible, and this looks like it totally is. 😉

Ryan Morales, everything on the cake was perfectly edible. The little roses were made of marzipan or some similar confection, so essentially everything could have been eaten, though quite a bit was left over—but then again, that’s just how it goes with any wedding cake! And word on the street is that it was absolutely delicious.

Why didn't you give it a taste?

Well, you see, I suppose I’m a bit of an oddball myself, as I’ve always harbored this nagging suspicion that wedding cake just isn't all that delicious. It seems I’m certainly not alone in that sentiment, though; looking at what other girls say about how much they dream of having a truly spectacular cake, it's clear we’re all sharing very similar disappointments. When I was little, I used to feel this absolute, overwhelming NEED to try a slice of wedding cake—it was like this grand, shimmering dream of mine—but I never actually managed to get my hands on one that tasted good. Because those early expectations were never met, I eventually just gave up on the whole idea and stopped seeking it out altogether. 😍 Looking back now, though, I can't help but feel a twinge of regret that I didn't persist.

Dana Wright4, can you please find out who they ordered those cookies from? I’ll handle everything else—what’s good and what it costs—since I already know most of the women who bake for weddings.

They made those treats themselves with some help from the neighbors... so they aren't much help to me in terms of finding a vendor...

However, I did spot a small bakery business on the main road heading out of the city toward the Suburban town... I think the name was Amanda or maybe Maggie...
Does that ring a bell for you? 🤷

I was wondering if any of you folks have actually held a wedding ceremony at the Globe Convention Center out by the fairgrounds? Apparently, they throw in a complimentary cake as part of the package, so I’m curious about what they actually look like—and honestly, I have my doubts that anyone there will even bother asking what kind of flavor I prefer or what ingredients I’m looking for...😁 because I wouldn't want just some random...🙂

That cake is gorgeous—looks totally delicious. Honestly, what caught my eye right away was how sharp the bride and groom look, even if you can barely see them through the shot👍 🙂

My brother actually had his wedding there just a few months back—maybe two or three? Anyway, they were given an address to visit where they could pick out the cake themselves, deciding everything from the flavors to the colors and style... I assume that's still how they handle things. It would be such a shame if they tried to surprise you with some mediocre, uninspired cake, wouldn't it?

I had my wedding at the Globe. They provide a cake for 120 guests, which comes from Vincent's (and let me tell you, their stuff is delicious). The process is simple: you go down to Vincent's, pick out the specific cake shape you want, jot down the item code, and then just give that number to the coordinator at the Globe who handles all the arrangements.
If you want something specific or a larger cake, they offered to cover the cost of $333, and we just paid the difference... it ends up being cheaper for them than if you were to order it separately on your own.👍

Look, the absolute best treats around here come from this one lady in a Suburban town and her shop, Sweetie. They're doing my cake, and my coworkers and cousins—who I actually baked for at their weddings—are handling the cookies.
