The biggest mistake parents make—and I'm not talking about abuse here—is neglect. It’s easy to dismiss a kid who acts out as just being needy or difficult, but that's a huge oversight

Harold Anderson3 said:Oh, Nicholas Bailey3... it’s far too early to be talking about Christmas. Life is moving along fast enough as it is, but seriously...

If you ask any shopping mall, Christmas starts the day after tomorrow.☕
The holiday season is creeping up—it’s never easy when you're left to handle those first few years on your own.
You eventually figure life out, but for now, you just need patience. It certainly took me a while...

@ Carol Barrett2, there isn't really much I can buy right now. I could technically pay off all my loans, but honestly, I'd end up homeless and without an address in the process.

I had that dream again recently—the one where I take my own life. In the dream, I swallowed a massive amount of pills and caused total chaos throughout the city. My mom was there, too.

Work hasn't been easy lately either; I'm out in the field, far from home, and I probably won't be back by Christmas. For now, I'm just taking it as it comes. Once things grind to a halt, we'll see what happens next...

Just stay stateside for Christmas. Honestly, what would you even do back home during the holidays? It’s going to be miserable..

Harold Anderson3 said:Honestly, I actually asked for a permanent ban at one point—I can't even remember why anymore—yet here I am, still scrolling through everything, mostly just digging through that PDF and following this specific thread...

Well, looks like you got completely distracted by that one guy's nonsense 🤣
This PDF is basically the whole story ☕

I've been working construction out on Maui.
The work is actually decent, and we managed to negotiate a pretty good hourly rate, though there's a catch—I'm not officially on the payroll. Out of our four-man crew, only one guy is actually registered with the state; the rest of us aren't.
To be honest, I think it might actually be for the best, because before you can get officially signed on, you have to pass a medical exam, and I already have a feeling that’s going to be a major hurdle for me.

It honestly feels like they won't let me work, and they won't let me live, either. I just can't sustain my life solely on medication. If I could just have a pension that allows me to live a normal life like some people do, I wouldn't dream of picking up a shovel or climbing a scaffold ever again.

Anyway, I don't want to bore everyone, but until I clear these loans—which should take another two and a half years—I am going to fight with everything I've got to keep working. And maybe even after that, too. I have no intention of settling for disability or social assistance; I am capable of working and I truly want to work, which is something I've proven many times over.

Thanks, man—don't disappear on us again.☕

Donna White85 said:I don't know—maybe you're referring to those suggestions from a literal century ago, given how carefully you're choosing your words.

Fine, let's just wipe everything clean—act like nothing ever happened and let things bloom until the next inevitable meltdown.

That’s what "moderating" looks like, apparently.

Of course you're being picky. You aren't even posting on the main boards; you just saw a mention of abortion somewhere and decided to come over here and lose it.
And now you're doing the exact same thing right here.

Outbursts are a daily occurrence and the moderation is questionable—sure—but you're still hysterical over people sharing unpopular opinions. If it were up to me, she'd be banned along with that troll.

So, this guy was basically threatening me with physical violence earlier—not exactly the most reasonable approach—and now suddenly he’s being crucified just because he shared an unpopular opinion about having unpopular opinions. ☕

I honestly have no clue what I was supposed to do with all that hysteria of yours

Glad you got your status sorted out—it’s not exactly rocket science to change it later if things shift 👍

I can't find that post, at least not from this year.
What does this whole debate about NYC waste even have to do with anything?

Seems like everyone ran out of things to say, so now they're just hanging out here.

That was before the elections. I even left comments on the trash bags themselves. Good stuff. 👍

Got a three-day ban for "aggressive trolling"—not because of what I actually said, but because of the specific questions I asked about their campaign platform.

Now I’m reading (not commenting, just observing) this stuff about the NYC trash bags. Honestly, it's laughably bad.
Religion again in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I spent a little time poking fun at religion with the atheists—it was like watching kids throw a tantrum because someone took their candy. 😁
Funny people, honestly.

Harold Anderson3 said:The truth is, they don't even know I have schizophrenia. The doctor who evaluated my ability to work obviously knows, but all she officially noted was that I'm "fit for work, except for point 4 (operating a forklift in the warehouse)." Honestly, the management there is such a mess that I've grown to dislike them. It's incredibly grueling work there, and I'd honestly take it just to have something to do, but everything feels so uncertain right now...

Actually, nothing is uncertain about it.
A new job and—potentially—a new environment; there's no mystery or deep philosophy involved. The only real question left is "when."

Carol Barrett2 said:Maybe they think I've got schizophrenia—and honestly, why would they want someone like that on the payroll? That’s straight-up discrimination right there. Personally, I’ve been declared unfit for work and I'm just sitting around waiting for the Social Security Administration to approve my disability pension. If they reject me, we'll have to file an appeal regarding the disability rating. I'm currently at Category II, though it really should be Category I since I can barely handle basic daily tasks on my own without help.

Right now, I'm on a cocktail of Modafinil, Aripiprazole, Prazosin, and Ativan—doses are roughly 1-0.5; 1; 1-0.5; 1; then 1, 25, 25, and 5 mg. The only downside is the sleep. I've been sleeping for years, even before these pills started, just drifting off for 12 to 20 hours a day—sometimes hitting the 20-hour mark, easily.

I’ve been telling people for years that I might actually have narcolepsy.

It's been about a year and a half since I was last hospitalized.

But yeah, I'm still mostly living in my own little world, almost constantly.

@DR handles this illness pretty well—I haven't lectured him on it, and besides, I'm currently 🎉

Besides, people discriminate based on skin tone—why wouldn't they judge something they don't understand?
Maybe they're just afraid of the medical leave paperwork?
Who knows. Usually, it's just because it's foreign to them and, frankly, terrifying.

Patrick Patel4 said:I get these acute episodes, mostly paranoid stuff. It eventually passes, but man, it hits. I don't really deal with the heavy-duty psychotic breaks that people with more serious issues go through, but I definitely have those moments where I'm just spacing out in the hallways because the meds have completely wrecked me. Like, if I pop a few Sanval, maybe 20, 30, or even 50 at once... everything starts looking weird. Every corner of the room looks rounded, and my phone ends up looking like a Nintendo 3DS with a physical keyboard. But the paranoia? That’s the real kicker. I’m constantly spinning around, checking over my shoulder because I feel like someone is staring at me, whispering about me, or laughing at me. Even though, honestly, nobody gives a damn about me, and I couldn't care less about them anyway.

🤦

When paranoia kicks in, it just adds a few extra items to his "nobody gives a damn" checklist.
About unknown 🤣

It's actually pretty fascinating reading about how the brain tries to communicate with itself during an illness.

What a joke

It’s not like you actually applied for that forklift operator gig...

Harold Anderson3 said:I wanted to follow up and let you know that, unfortunately, we won't be able to catch up. I actually ended up landing a job out here in the Midwest, working at a chip factory—it's the biggest one in the area and easily one of the most established companies in my town. I passed all the medical screenings, though the downside is that the pay is relatively low, even if it's decent enough for starting out, and the shifts can be pretty demanding. I was given an initial month-long contract, so now it's really just about proving myself as a reliable worker.

And please, don't go trying to lift 110 pounds over there!

quietangler47 said:According to her story, nothing actually happened between them, but they were trying to use gifts to change her mind, which honestly makes zero sense to me. She mentioned she can't bring herself to be physically intimate with a man after everything she's been through, and she just wants some peace and quiet without anyone bothering her. Out of all the guys who were crowding her, there was only one around her age, and he’s the one I called a "softie." He’s actually a really good guy—caring, sweet, and pretty sharp for his age... he isn't pushing her at all, and I actually respect that about him.

"Sharp," you say. 🤣
