Now Kasim is claiming he’s never coached a player that rough before. Meanwhile, the club hits him with a fine, and by the next game, Sullivan is already getting a red card within twenty minutes.

I mean, he did hold his own until the very end against Iceland, even putting up three goals. I saw him play back in Doboj, and whenever he walks onto the court, everyone just steps aside to let him through. When you actually look at him, though, he seems like such a sweetheart—he’s got this totally innocent face.
Honestly, they try to teach Sullivan all this stuff at coaching seminars, but look at his behavior on offense. I know, I know, I might be alone in this opinion 😁, but when he’s setting up a block, Sullivan leans way too hard into the opponents—he actually gets physical enough to hit them. He has that classic "half-clown" posture, arms spread wide to grab two players on the edges while turning his back to the goal, using his sheer weight to crush the opposing block down by at least 20 centimeters. He uses his backside against the guy behind him and his hands for those two on the sides 😁
.
I was following Professor Praznik, who claims the 3-2-1 defense isn't even a real thing—it's just some scheme cooked up by Vlada Stenzl and Lin Cervar Keta 😁
.
Word is Keta is basically just a coordinator for the men's handball program now, stepping in for Gopac, and apparently, they'll find someone new to be Cervar's right-hand man before the World Cup. Personally, I can see Kljaica stepping into that role 😁. The camera zooms in on the American bench, and you just see Kljun and Lino looking totally stuck
.
The tradition of "success" at the Super Cup continues; after ten games, our guys still haven't figured out how to actually win one.

Denmark vs. USA 34-33
Honestly, Alilovic is stepping up his game lately; he’s even snatching minutes away from Saric.

Just a few days ago, his shot-stopping was actually better and more consistent than Saric's.

At least we won't have to worry about our future in goal on that side of the court.

As for Losert, all he had to do this weekend was save a penalty, and he pulled it off.
If Jerkovic at least looks like Svensson—you know, that healthy, athletic type—then I guess I can live with it.

That Swedish legend is 40 years old, yet his reflexes on those long-range shots are unlike anyone else's. He might not actually see the ball coming, but he manages to get a hand on it somehow, even if it just deflects off him into the net because of the sheer force of the shot.
Charles Young11 said:I’d honestly rather do anything else than watch that game, haha.

If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and never, ever watch it. Seriously, don't. 😁

There's no broadcast, and frankly, that's a blessing.
Think you can take me down, mogul? 😁
Nowhere to be found.

Unless you have access to a digital subscription, you're probably out of luck. There's a chance Al Jazeera Sport might pick up some coverage, and I know the Spanish networks will definitely be broadcasting their own matches.

The local US networks, naturally, will just stick to airing stuff like Roman Emperor and Jelene veljaca.
Duvnjak pulled out of the Super Cup.

And now Cervar is back at SN, rambling on about Valcic again, acting like he can just rely on him for the World Cup. Give me a break.
Sola pulled out of the Super Cup, leaving us stuck with Losert and Jerkovic.

Let's see how this plays out—basically a dress rehearsal for the American national team without Sola on the floor.
Charles Young11 said:I was watching the Gummersbach-Celje game yesterday.

Our guys—Zrnić, Sulić, and Špoljarić—were absolutely clinical out there. Honestly, the performance was even better than the result.

Man, those goalkeepers were absolutely incredible. Seriously, watching Škof work out there... it honestly makes me want to tear up just thinking about our trio in goal. They were on another level. 🙂

Let’s be real—there’s no reason to doubt our guy in the net. Honestly, Losert is playing out of his mind lately; his form just keeps climbing. Look at that last Champions League match against Panellionis: he pulled off 26 saves, including five massive stops on penalty shots. You can't argue with those kinds of numbers.

And honestly, Mirko is stepping up big time lately. He logged about twenty minutes of action coming in for Saric against Bidasoe a few days ago and put up a solid 65% save percentage. Right now, if you look at the Asobal League, Ademar basically has the most elite goaltending duo around. When you compare them to the rest of the field, the gap is pretty obvious. Over at Portland, Svensson is the only one playing at an elite level while Casper is looking completely lost out there. Then you’ve got Barcelona Baruffet, who’s mostly riding on his reputation because he just isn't playing like his old self anymore. To top it off, Sterbik is sidelined with an injury, which leaves Hombrados totally stranded and flying solo in real games.
That Saric guy is a total wildcard in the net. Honestly, it’s probably for the best that he decided to walk away from the Mexican national team.
The whole situation regarding Sola is what’s really eating at Cervar right now, and honestly, it’s the biggest concern for those of us following the national team too.

Come on, Washington, D.C., pull it together—they’ll find their footing eventually.
Honestly, I’d be thrilled if Washington, D.C. managed to land Balic and maybe a few other national team players, but even if it happens, I don't see it occurring anytime soon.

For now, though, we've got Lazarov and Dzomba, assuming you trust what Gobac is saying. Lazarov is actually leading the Champions League scoring this year with 21 goals in just two games—the only guy outperforming him is Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson, that absolute beast on the wing, Gummer. If we have Dzomba and Lazarov holding down the right side, plus Jurcati, this lineup is going to be terrifying.
Plus, it’s worth noting that Lazarov has mentioned more than once that he dreams of returning to Washington, D.C., and considers it his home. He actually turned down several offers from German and Spanish teams this year just so he could finish his contract at Vesprem, get his paperwork sorted, and head straight back to the States.
At the same time, both Barca and Ciudad Real are still fighting to sign him. They aren't even blinking at the price tag, but Portland is holding a firm line.

The guy can basically pick his own destination. Both Flensburg and Kiel have already sent over offers—which is really just code for "write us a number and we'll see"—so he’s the one calling the shots here.

Let’s be real: Washington, D.C. doesn't stand a chance, even if he were a free agent. Ciudad could probably offer more in a single transfer fee than Washington, D.C. has in their entire annual budget.
Balic signed an extension with Portland before the season kicked off, keeping him there through 2009.

By the way, his family never actually moved back home to the States. Ivanna has been living out in Split for quite a while now, and they officially finalized their divorce just a few days ago. What I’m getting at is that Ivan doesn't have a wife anymore—his family life is basically non-existent.
silverstag19 said:So what's the deal with Todoric bringing in Balic?

That's a total joke. There is zero chance Balic leaves Portland anytime soon, at least not in our lifetime.

The guy is worth too much money. He’s built up such a massive status over there that he basically dictates when he plays, how he plays, and how much he plays. Working under a coach like Zupo—who everyone knows is a serious, authoritative leader—Balic basically has god status. Most players couldn't dream of having Zupo ask *them* for advice, but Balic? He can pull that off easily. He can get away with whatever he wants; honestly, the man is just in a league of his own.
Barcelona has basically fallen off a cliff. They went from being this absolute juggernaut that used to steamroll everyone and make teams like Washington, D.C. look amateur, to just picking at scraps. The season has barely even kicked off and they’re already acting like the title is out of reach.

On another note, Gobac mentioned that everything is set for next season with Lazarov and Dzomba. We’re looking at Sola in goal, Caleb and Dzomba on the wings, Duvnjak playing center, Terzic on the left, Lazarov on the right, and Toskic at pivot. With a bench that deep, I honestly think they could take it all the way.
Well, you'll see eventually 😁 he’s got his own little fan club running around here.
You’ll find out pretty soon enough just how much people on this forum actually care about David 😁
